Now, while I agree that elemental battlemage is in a rough place as it lacks in terms of RR, but when your suggestion for my question of “how do we make the Discord transmuter of Cadence more compelling” is “switch to phys or aether instead lul” you’re absolutely proving my point that it’s a badly-supported transmuter.

I love my aether battlemages, but before the Krieg set was introduced aether bama was similarly struggling along. It’d be nice to toss Elemental bama some love as well via a dedicated item set.

Discord is compelling. Just not for Battlemages. In fact, I guess the whole discussion is derailing because you named your tread incorrectly. The problem is not Elemental damage. The problem is Elemental Battlemage. This is what the scope of this discussion should be. And I do agree that Elemental Battlemage is not supported and severly lacks RR. But this is what we should discuss, not Tacticians, not Warlocks, not any other mastery combination, because you want to discuss about Discord in conjunction with Iskandra Elemental Exchange, and that is Elemental Battlemage.

Now that it is (hopefully) settled, it made me think…about Ze Battlemage set, a set so specific to Battlemage that no other mastery combination can really use it : Spellscourge. Thing is, Spellscourge is Physical, there’s no way around it. And one super cool about Spellscourge, unique to it, is the fact that its shield is considered as an Off-hand. This opens some cool intercations, namely the possibility to use Devastation or AAE…And it made me think…Iskandra’s set is considered as kinda weak, atm…one problem is that it incentivize a melee playstyle with an Off-hand, which is a bit…iffy.

Hence my suggestion : why not make Iskandra’s text be considered as a Shield? While it doesn’t solve the RR problem, it could allow to use Menhir’s Will, Overguard (not for the Block recovery, of course, but there are other bonuses that could be interesting), and Menhir’s Bulwark for Battlemages. It could even work for Templars, since a lot of Oathkeeper skills do benefit from wielding a Shield.

Edit : just to be clear, what I’m saying about Iskandra’s set is not just hearsay, this is the set I used for my Elemental/Aether DW Battlemage.

Jokes are good and all unless you realize that Z. is in no joking mood and half of the builds you loved are nerfed into the ground. Maybe post it in a different section, it’s a real effort to communicate something to Z., but sometimes it works. If we dilute Ideas and Feedback with threads like this he will start thinking every serious thread is a joke and will start reducing CDR on Star Pact by 2% every patch.

I agree that turning this part of the forum into damage type complaints and joke threads is a Really Bad Idea. Hence why I suggested a new topic for this thread in my second post to it. I am of the mindset that Discord on the whole could use some dedicated support, much as aether battlemage got a huge boost from the Krieg set once AoM hit.

Your assumption that crate will nerf “half of the builds you loved” into the ground just because Zantai is in a bad mood is pretty perplexing though.

elemental battlemage is bad.

soldier only has little elemental rr from warcry tree and arcanist has no elemental rr.

battlemage are designed to deal physical/aether damage anyway. if you want
melee elemental warriors, inquisitor give the biggest boost to elemental damage.

about discord though… it seems this discord skill sows discord within itself… iirc
discord at first convert physical to chaos. then it becomes elemental. then it
becomes lightning. then it becomes elemental again.

why not make discord gives bonus flat and percentage damage on elemental,
chaos, and aether altogether?
