Literally, idk why people are reacting so hard to this. If the guy who made that server sees this thread, he’s just gonna be encouraged to make other “offensive” ones??
Hey I think you’re getting it. Much better to avoid all that trickiness and ‘report’ it elsewhere, then you can feel good about your morals without the hard part.
what “hard” part? - sry for asking, but it reads like sarcasm(to me /“internet txt be like”)
“if you engage directly you feed them”, this is a known thing
it’s not hard to go bash a troll or racist, but it’s often exactly what they want, while your efforts are always entirely wasted and were from the start even before beginning.
Because it’s borderline impossible to talk sense into an actual racist in a single chat convo, let alone a troll that thrives on it.
So a simple poke to Crate, “hey if word filters are possible might want to consider doing it/if these lobbies are controllable on your end”, is probably a million times more effective, and not giving the culprit (direct) attention has nothing to do with ease or lazy
I’m just being sarcastic mostly, referring to the drama following the ‘callout’ rather than what is really just a simple feature question/answer.
Please, everyone, in an online game where you don’t have the means to locate racists/offenders/… can’t we just ignore them, pay no attention to these (bc its what such people want)? Silencing is what hurts them the most. Thanks ….
Don’t worry, just ignore idiots, especially on the internet.
You’re simply looking at the freedom of peer-to-peer environment with all it’s ups and downs. Get over it.
As soon as Crate starts blocking some words, a policy would need to be introduced and maintained. Should the words be blocked in characters’ names too even if they’re never taken online? How about LAN games? You can also bet players will come up with creative ways of circumventing the measures. And if maintenance stops, we’re stuck with whatever was on the list of naughty words last.
Perhaps you can devise a mod which hides some servers for you.
I would rather add a warning similar to what some other games carried: “Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB.”
