When I go in to put down a new building, it is hard to tell if I already have that specific building or not. Maybe a simple highlight to show if I’ve already put a specific one down might help?

Indeed: a little counter under the icon telling you how many you already have completed (and non-completed!) would be great.

The professions window tells you so.
No it doesn’t. It tell you a building of that type is short a worker. It doesn’t tell you which one at all.
Each job is listed. If the line of the cheese maker is greyed out, it means that you have no cheese factory.
Please read more attentively. The exact phrase was “it is hard to tell if I already have that specific building or not” tow which you replied “The professions window tells you so.”
This is simply false.
I’m not going to argue with you since you deny the reality.
Er, I think they mean that it’s hard to tell, if you have say, 6 firewood splitters working, if you have three buildings working with two people in each, or six with one person each. You can see the number of workers, but not the number of buildings they’re spread out over.
