When balancing pets remember summoners ALWAYS get aggro

Is it possible to take that AGRO behavior to your advantage and make a build that does not sustain or tank and instead runs around casting various things while the boss chases him? I can’t say from experience as I’m still experimenting in Normal/Epic and don’t play much per month or year.

so you found a boss that doesn’t auto-aggro the summoner. which boss are we talking about?

Normal is an entirely different game, and i feel like devs look at overpowered pets in Normal (which they most certainly are) and end up nerfing them for Ultimate. That’s the issue imo

Levelling through Ultimate and up to the Necropolis, haven’t found a single boss I’ve had aggro issues with. Some enemies like I mentioned above but they die to Poison ticks. What bosses do you have issues with aggro on?

lol. Can’t tell you how many people asked me why I didn’t include that item. I’m like “same reason I didn’t include whirling blades procs”.

Everything with a purple name chases me. Are you sure you’re not body blocking them with pets? if you body block them they’ll fight your pets, if not they come straight for me :stuck_out_tongue:

I am actually starting to wonder if this is partly a two player issue- my friend runs with me a lot too, he is Tactician with nearly 4k OA and insane damage, and when he’s around he gets almost zero aggro- it all goes for me, which he loves because he has free reign to destroy bosses. Maybe there’s a bug in there somewhere…

I mean I’m not saying I can’t kill bosses when I have aggro- just saying I always have aggro. Again, this is on bosses; the trash mobs are too dumb to know what aggro is. I cast Curse of Frailty and Bloody Pox (level 1) for devotion procs, that’s all I’m casting on the mobs. Sometimes reaper but that spell is purely cosmetic.

Just did a quick Twin Falls Hive run (closest purple-named boss I could think of) and the wasp was definitely going for my pets. I was next to her with 2 Fiends on the other side and she had her back turned to me, again this is while I was spamming Curse of Frailty and transmuted DEE on cooldown.

I remember reading that aggro generates the more ticks someone does (which is why skills like High Potency BWC or Stun Jacks have a tendency to draw aggro) so maybe my Fiend’s alongside their threat generation from Rotting Fumes/Blight Burst are just doing more ticks than I am, who knows.

I’ve read (on a different thread in forum here) that ‘agro’ in GD is called ‘anger’ and it develops not only from damage to self but also to nearby allies. So a zero damage AoE debuff might generate more anger than your Taction friend if he is dealing lots of damage with less AoE. The reason being that affecting many allies generates more ‘anger’ than damage to a smaller number but more OA and damage/second.

I don’t know?

That wouldn’t account for blawsonhull’s experience with Alkamos, though.

oh roguelikes you don’t have to cast a single spell. they ignore my pets completely. anyone ever seen Valbury, BoC, or SoT bosses aggro pets?

Not saying it’s the end of the world, but it certainly reminds me pet class is a poor choice for farming those areas.
