Why am I suck???

Thank you for your attention as the title is clearly a click bait

TL;DR - When new player died they dont know what they did wrong so I suggest you death recap like this so they can improve themselves.

While we already have almost every details we need on our character panel, new player on the other hand will still be new player.

There are those who learn fast and there are those inexperience who never play a game of this genre before, and the latter died unknowingly why.

In the first character I play after I hit elite I died to skeleton knights a lot until I realized that they reflected damages I dealt back to me.

Having Death Recap like this could reduce newbie’s corpses by allowing them to correct themselves thus make them enjoy the game more and rage quit less.

Also I really think that we have too few seconds to look at debuffs that enemies throw at us, only way for me to see those is pausing the game while my mouse on that inflicted status - and this is the reason why I thought of death recap in the first place.

Ps. I dont believe that this is hand holding

Has been suggested before. Not sure what the devs may or may not do about it. If they do it’s probably a long way down the “things to do” list.

Death recap isn’t as easy to make as you think. You have to store every hit you receive and store it somehow. This requires much, much effort, maybe hours of work for a minimal effect that would not even work as it should. Even though you see death recaps in other games, they’re not bug-free. There are always bugs, it’s very hard to implement it so it works as intended. It basically won’t change anything. Why? A new player will try to study wtf happened, but it might show wrong informations anyway, because it’s hard to store millisecond-by-millisecond hits. What I mean by that, the system will have check every millisecond what happened and store it to then show the player what killed them and how. This might be even achieved by a per-frame factor, but then the player might receive informations that are totally bullshit, like he got killed by a fire ball, which dealt 754 damage, while in reality he only takes 120 damage from these fireballs. So basically, Crate would need to use the millisecond idea, but they will not do that because it might delay the game in general (game might just run slower, on weaker PCs it might be unplayable). The ending results will also be bad, as a new player will study what happened, while most of players that already know the game won’t give a damn about that, because they’ll know they messed up or weren’t fast enough to press a defensive skill or potion.

I personally think that death recap is the worst idea ever. It’s almost always wrong, because it’s not implemented how it should be. In many games people don’t even care about that feature because they know it’s wrong, but can only give us an idea of what happened (which again might not be a proper information, but a system mess-up).

The closest thing you can do right now to death recap is to look up on GT database the monster which killed you.
