Why not Medal Augments?

I asked (and proposed) this in other forums, but didn’t have any impact at all, so i guess it was the wrong approach.

I would like to know why is it that we can’t augment medals, given that we can put components on them. Seems odd, or inconsistent at least, so, i would like to know the reason behind it, if possible.

You want to keep your medal clean and shiny , that’s for showing. Augments are dirty and oily.

My medal has a piece of a dead animal stick to it… you don’t get much dirty than that.

You like it filth uh?

Absolutely

Get a room.

ill rather get Medal augments, thank you

Yeah I never understood why they cannot get the jewelry augments… Without additional information, it sounds as arbitrary as deciding that shoulders cannot receive components.

Patch 1.0.4.0 spoilers :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

one coulded argued that was for balance purposes, but since AoM, that no longer aplies. Given the buff most builds got, plus all the new components and augment options we have now, it makes no sense at all.

I honestly think they just never noticed. Is the only reason i can imagine for this to remain as it is.

Probably because of balance reasons. 3 or 4 augments makes more of a difference than you might think at first.

Given the tremendous variance in power levels already extant among augments, as well as the fact that all resists and many stats are capped, I can’t accept “balance” as an answer. What build isn’t broken now, but would be with 1 more jewelry augment?

this is exactly what i said. In Vanilla, MAYBE coulded been an issue (and i don’t think it woulded be). But now… It just makes no sense. The extra devotion and skill points from lvls and quest are far more powerfull than that single extra augment. Not even considering all the extra powercreep from mythical sets.

What difference does it make? 15% resistance / 4% health / 2% OA?

Yeah, this bothers me as well. Feeld really arbitrary

The difference would probably end up being fairly minor but it might give us an opportunity and reason to use an augment we’d normally pass over for not being important to the bottom line of a build. More than anything it’s just the inconsistency that puzzles me.

I opened a similar topic in the No-Reply Feedback Section not long ago. Although there were half a dozen views, there was no feedback as to why medals are not augmentable and what the thought process behind this design decision is. As a player I find it hard to find valid reasons for this decision.

Balance? As mentioned by others before, I don’t think it would cause imbalances. The strong builds won’t get stronger. However, it could help weak builds to get that little extra boost needed for ultimate. Versatility should be promoted.

Not possible from a technical point of view? Doubtful.

Personally, since every other item with components can also be augmented, I feel artificially limited in building my character. More choices, more possibilites and less builds not making it pass the theorycrafting table.

I find even this doubtful, though it’s certainly more plausible than the contention that augmenting medals is going to unbalance anything. I just can’t see one extra augment making the final difference in any build. It wouldn’t matter at all, compared to the enormous heap of other bonuses players pile up by level 40, let alone 100 - which is why it’s so weird that it’s not possible to augment medals in the first place.

In any case, I think jewelry augments on medals would rather add to the fun of itemization than take some of it away. Even if it’s just for consistency.

The reason is balance, thats in the vanilla. But now that the expansion is out, and enemies die so quickly. There is no reason for medals to not be able to put augments, but there are some augments that cant be put. For example augments that give more armor, or damage, or defense. Only the augments that give resistance can be put, logic.

And I have been saying that the hardness should be buffed, way way before the expansion came out. Way before and it hasn’t, now that enemies die so quickly. They should be buffed around 30% more.

When I host a multiplayer and just one person joins, the enemies die with no challenge. That is just one, some builds its a little bit of a challenge but not by much. So there is no point in having more then one other person in a group.
