That was a joke…
(Insert another EDI joke here)
maybe crate should use corrosive resistance? borderlands use corrosive term on both instant corrosive damage and corrosive dot.
If we get corrosion damage, we’ll have to farm maybe even ten times as hard. Corrosion will eat like 99% of the items our characters use. If that happened, I’d go full GDStash and mods mode.
I prefer caustic personally. Also, while we’re griping about damage types and terminology: Internal Trauma (the skill modifier) does Internal Trauma (the damage type) but also Bleeding. Something about this slightly bothers me, but I’m not sure exactly why.
gd shall never have repair equip feature like D2! even though gd is themed around survival by using makeshift scrap equipments that never broke or rust!
that also makes me wonder why corrosive damage in borderlands never damage equips.
what’s the difference between caustic and corrosive? aren’t they similar?
that internal trauma skill modifier does internal trauma and bleeding damage at the same time. yet general internal trauma damage has no interaction with bleeding damage…(though they do often present together in some skills and gears).
here’s the analogy about internal trauma & bleeding damage irl and in gd:
irl: ARGH! someone just punched me hard! i’m suffering from internal trauma and internal bleeding!
in gd: ARGH! someone just hit me with skill that causes so much internal trauma yet does no bleeding damage! my organs are crumpled! yet they’re not leaking at all!
Caustic is the opposite of acid, it’s high pH (near more d LMm than 8).
Corrosive is all damage possible on surface, acid, basic, burn…
Chemical note : 0 < acid < 7 (neutral) < basic < 14
i’ve found this from wikidiff:
Acidic is a synonym of caustic
As adjectives the difference between acidic and caustic is that acidic is (chemistry) having a ph less than 7, or being sour, or having the strength to neutralize alkalis, or turning a litmus paper red while caustic is capable of burning, corroding or destroying organic tissue.
As a noun caustic is any substance or means which, applied to animal or other organic tissue, burns, corrodes, or destroys it by chemical action; an escharotic.
a bit of a chemical lesson here. but in general, both acidic and caustic substance can corrode stuff. so i think corrosive damage is still the appropriate replacement term.
a little note here, there’s a caustic item prefix in gd. it gives:
1.+% Acid Damage
2.+% Poison Damage
3.+ Spirit
4.+ Offensive Ability
5.% Vitality Resistance
Oh boy, you guys really seems to have way to much free time and not knowing what to do with it.
Sorry in French is different, I was meaning it’s same in English (fake twins we say)
looking at this thread wholesomely, now i can imagine how hard it is to provide detailed and consistent tooltip text while making sure it won’t lead to mistranslation for localization. i do think crate does an impressive job in providing tootip details for players, considering their small team size.
