Why won't they fix crucible for 1st level?

I wonder why they make crucible suicidal for 1st level toons. The final boss on the 10th wave is just too hard. It CAN be done, but it is just seriously not worth it.

It makes a terrible first impression, wondering why the heck it exists like that.

Unless you want a ridiculous challenge, you have to start the campaign mode first, grab a different weapon, then start crucible mode.

Why not just fix it? Do they want people to hate their game?

Why can’t you just sell something from your stash and buy a weapon before starting?
I do this every time I start crucible from lvl1

Because it requires trial and error first before you realize that you aren’t meant to win with default equipment. You die a few times first, THEN realize that you are required to do something different.

Sure, now that I know it is broke I can do something different to avoid the problem, but why not get it fixed?

Actually, enemies are severely nerfed at player level 1-8 in the Crucible and the wave 10 golem boss is replaced with a much weaker non-boss version already.

I just did this 10 minutes ago, my game is fully updated (steam). The problem you described is still there.

My game version says 1.0.0.7 in the bottom right. Steam thinks my game is up to date. Does my client have a problem? Golem boss just slaughtered me again, lol.

Something is hard is must be broken?

That just make no freaking sense.

I can’t kill the Warden at level 1 the game must be broken.

Man I got my ass handed to me the first time I went into that cavern with Salazaar and never wondered hummm that part of the game is broken nah man it is just an higher level section

You aren’t supposed to fight the warden at first level.

As far as I can tell, you are supposed to fight the Golem boss at first level. Its not impossible, but very, very challenging. I find it hard to believe that is intended.

Well considering the fact that Crucidle read something along the line

Were even the mightiest meet their end

I kinda expect Crucible to kill people…even max level character and thus I expect it to kill low level character and laugh doing it

Or you can hit a few zombies in LC for a minute until you hit level 2 and start with a skill. The Crucible isn’t meant to be easy, and I can assure you that it is a hell of a lot easier than it used to be, even surviving to wave 5 was a miracle back then and if you actually met the golem, not a hope in hell of surviving.

Yeah, I finally did it on my 5th try, lol. The secret was to hide behind a pillar after you get in 2 or 3 attacks. You won’t get accidentally hit by the blast wave.

I found this level of difficulty starting off bizzare because in the entire regular game, there is nothing this hard (except on veteran of course).

Was the crate employee implying that the golem boss isn’t supposed to be here?

Ok, The first match is extremely challenging, and the subsequent ones are much, much easier.

The difficulty is messed up. To fix the problem, the first corpse when you start at first level should contain a couple of basic weapons in addition to the existing heal potions, that would go a long way towards evening things out.

The game mode should work ok starting out at first level and it really doesn’t. At least, unless my client is just messed up, lol.

No, just that the current golem is a hell of a lot easier than the previous golem boss, as in you can actually kill this one :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit, your client isn’t messed up, in my view it’s meant to be challenging and if you want to run in there with no skills and a basic starter weapon, then I don’t think you should be surprised that it’s hard to survive.

Went and tried Crucible with starting items only. Have to acknowledge that it’s hard (and very boring too). I realized there’s no way I’d make it on wave 6 and ragequit.

That said, I don’t think that Crucible was ever meant for players who haven’t played main campaign yet. All you need to make it smooth is to buy a rifle.

Yes, this is the point that I didn’t get. Its fine if you play the campaign first for 45 seconds.

Usually I just sell a blue item I don’t need. Typically stash is cluttered with them after you play for a while. It’s not like you have to get level 2 with each character before going crucible.

From my experience the crucible is never worth the time and effort. I’ve soloed on aspirant 1-104 several times to get nothing, on challenger I did 1-32 did get one purple hardly worth the time. Multiplayer on gladiator waves 100-150 so laggy takes forever and only 2 purples.

You other option people would say nemesis troves- also worthless save for maybe Fabious. His chest drops 99 times more legendaries than the others.

I don’t use crucible to level nor as end game mainly cause I don’t like it. I’d rather they put in a “secret cave” (right from there books TQ) have a chest as a reward that drop rates are awesome, just like TQ. Even though hundreds of runs and I never saw the Ainios shield, make level 100 more like level 75 in tqit and level 99 in d2. Really levels 86-100 should be end game where most builds are complete by 85 and true grinders see it through till 99.

Anyway my advice dont run crucible you arent missing anything.

  • just ran crucible again with a better build that just hit 85 aspirant levels 1-150 = 1 blue a dynamite and a blood of cthon. Challenger 1-79 = nothing but mats, searing embers, polished emeralds etc.

Your high level character can “retire” some level 1 items to the shared stash and I believe you can access it in the Crucible. Better yet, attach Polished Emerald (attributes + 8), Scavenged Plating (armor + 15) and maybe Roiling Blood to your items. You need to store only one set of level 1 items to serve all your new characters – after all, level 1 characters aren’t that diverse…

You get this now as of the new patch .

Added Archon’s Warmaul lvl1 item to Crucible loot tables .

I wonder if that drops off the body on the floor , seems a waste of time if you have to do the 10 levels to get a lvl 1 weapon .

Oh and just saw this :
The starter chest now drops some Iron Bits in addition to potions for level 1 characters, for the purpose of purchasing some basic gear , so maybe the maul is in the shop ??

Not to get all “git gud” on you, but…git gud.

Just about every character I’ve created since the Crucible DLC came out has been started in there to get 5-10 devotion points. I don’t level them up in the main game first or pull stuff from my stash or anything (although I really should because it would make the first time through much faster). I honestly think wave 6 is significantly worse than 10, or at least it takes more time and is harder to avoid damage on.

It might not be completely trivial to beat it with a half naked character and no skills, but it becomes far from hard once you get used to the attack patterns and can avoid just about all of them.

Not sure you’re playing crucible right. You supposed to play it after you played some campaign, not from 1st level. If you farm devotions - don’t, that’s not interesting to have all of them too early
