Why would you ever chose Kymon's Chosen instead of the Order?

I can’t see how a group of fanatics can be better than a group of mages who study a specific practice and will save countless soldiers against the aetherial and cthonic forces by using undead instead of people.

Cause I like fire+lightning+physical damage bonuses more than pet and vitality+cold damage stuff.

In a world of psychopaths, which psychopath I side with really has little impact on me.

Like, were this reality I would absolutely team up with the necromancers, but I’d also quite clearly be a conjurer so it would be to my benefit from a career perspective as well as a theological one.

Wow this thread is not about balance.

I dislike KC myself for aesthetical reasons but if you need something from them why not roleplay that side too? Its a game.

Lore-wise, I would always choose KC because following a primordial god beats following some dude who doesn’t really know what he’s doing (e.g. letting his own bodyguard turn on him). Remember guys, DV aren’t the only ones who can control undead.

empyrion may be dead :stuck_out_tongue: uroboruuk may also be dead but at least he left a lot of teachings, like how to use a horde of skeletons to fight by your side

Empyrion’s a coward. But he makes a good figurehead.

That horde of skeletons won’t do you much good if the enemy can turn them against you. Uroboruuk learned this the hard way.

But quite clearly survived it, since he wrote about the experience. And we can also quite clearly still control undead, as seen around the DV. So really the lesson to learn is “never create anything without a kill switch.”

And what other lessons does that ignoramus Uroboruuk have yet to learn? He left Arkovia a ghost of its former self…literally. Such were the failures of Uroboruukare.

It’s time to Make Cairn Great Again. Vote Korvaak for Cult Leader. We’ll build a wall around the Ch’thonians and make them pay for it!

One is a group of people caught up in the endless pursuit of knowledge who take actions based on reasonable and logical rationale (why send human soldiers and risk lives when you can send the undead?).

The other is a group of religious fanatics following the orders of a figurehead who slaughter those who don’t align with their world views.

I think my choice is clear

I decided to sidwe with KC at Ultimate because I’ve never choosen them before.

I choose fractions because of items, not because of lore, so both of My 85 lvl chars are with the Kymon’s.

I prefer DV too but… THE IRON MAIDEN… The pain… the pain… ouch!

Uh, primordial God who is very clearly using Kymon and those fanatics as a pawn to meet this own goals.

Yes Uro lost control of his Guardian. But he still survived it. He is old very old, and most importantly human. He isn’t manipulating his followers into doing his dirty work like Kymon. He is tackling the toughest matters personally (whatever mystery he’s tackling)
Kymon is naive and has no idea what or he has unleashed, Uro is smart and logical

I don’t see how calling spirits into decaying bodies/skeletons and binding them to the caster’s will is any better than sending living soldiers to fight

at least the second is doing it at his own free will

Exactly that! I don’t see why would you go with Kymon’s Chosen. Maybe if you’re role-playing a templar commando but in my “good guys” I always go with the Order.

Yeah, that’s more of a moral question, but I still think it’s better to summon undead than sending soldiers to almost certain death. I would imagine a skeleton not feeling any kind of pain nor physical suffering.

yeah, they probably feels things far more worse than physical pain, like five steps of torment

If you pay attention then most of the spirits they call are doing it by their own will.

And in their master’s case the spirits want to serve him (Source: Laruka’s Jorunal)

In Kymon’s case that isn’t free will, that’s called deception

" Tomorrow, I will drag a soul back from beyond the veil of death and force it into skeletal remains."
very nice of this laruka fella, you suppose he said please before “dragging” the soul back or before he “forced” it into a skeleton? =P

they don’t know it, it’s still free will in their own right
