Hello I have problem with my build. Before I start, this is my first character and I have no clue how to make a good build. My problem is that my char make insane damage, like 4208 DPS on lvl 43 with buffs (solalel’s witchfire, empowered piercing aura), but the problem is my char can die pretty fast. I feel like I wasted some skill points, so please tell me what will be the best choice of skills for build based on stealing life from the enemies and high DPS. On the first chamber in Steps of Torment I died after like third boss, so I fell like I fucked up my char. Please give me some good advice what skills I should choose, and how to improve my char.
Since I’m immensely enjoying my one-trick Witch Hunter that steals some life, I’ll share that even though it’s very different from what you’ve done. It’ll get you somewhere at least if you don’t mind respeccing. Make a copy of your character if you just want to try it out.
You don’t have to max out Nightblade mastery or allocate core stats like I did, I’m just particular and set my personal rule that all my alts are maxed and divide points along base class ratios. (it does let me respec into basically anything without worry even if it’s not optimal for any one particular build).
Basically, maxed Phantasmal Blades supported by Possession and Curse of Frailty (could do Blood of Dreeg instead). It’s ranged and runs away and dodges to stay healthy, so maxed Shadow Dance. Devotions are a straight run for Aeon’s Hourglass and Dying God, with Wendigo’s Mark on Phantasmal Blades. Doom Bolt thrown in for fun and it’s synergistic with the vitality/chaos focus. Downside is it’s energy hungry. I chug potions constantly.
Start with maxing Phantasmal Blades, and slowly work the other stuff in. BTW, sheet DPS looks low, but I assure you it is crazy high in reality.
If you want to just be more survivable with what you’ve got and still focus on lifesteal, you can reclaim some points in your passives, invest in Veil of Shadow and Shadow Dance, possibly Blade Barrier. Devotions you can do the same thing I suggest above but maybe ignore Dying God. Put Wendigo’s Mark or Bat on Execution, and get to Aeon’s Hourglass with some life leech and nice Primordial dodge/resist constellations.
Also, don’t ignore your Nightblade passives on the bottom. As you gear, you’ll get bonuses for even having one point invested.
