Just curious of anyone has tried or might have some free back on a vitality/chaos melee Witch Hunter builds.
Also, considering that neither Oculist or Nightblade has a default melee ability like Commando (FS) does the + elemental damage count towards the melee attacks?
I’m busy working on something like this, but any feed back would be great. Cheers.
I’m running one right now, and I’ve sprinted through everything so far (now at act 3 ultimate). It’s really not a big deal not having savage strike or fire strike.
I skipped shears because it’s attack animation is definitely too slow, and the AOE affect isn’t needed with the other AOE damage in the build.
When it comes to single-target weapon damage, chaos strike, shadow strike, and execution are MORE than enough to rip through single targets.
The key defining feature of a chaos/vitality witch hunter is its life steal. The more damage you do with your weapons, and the more damage you do with your spells, the more healing you do. This means that it’s one of the few builds that can skip out on Giant’s blood/Wayward soul/etc, and actually get MORE healing building up your damage. Even more so after the 1.0.0.2
Sweet. Mine is similar to your build. I’m itching to try out my double Deat Omens at lvl 50. But I think a Death Omen/Damnation set up should be decent. Man, can’t wait to get home and finish leveling to try it out
Is Elemental Damage added to auto attacks? Anyone that could explain to me how it works? Say i have 800% Chaos damage and 600% Vitality damage. Is that added to my auto attacks, or is there some kind of modifier that adds it?
I could be wrong but iirc elemental damage increases will increase auto attack damage if your weapons have elemental damage already on them. This needs confirmation though. Also keep in mind that chaos and vitality and chaos are not elemental damage types
Well, at the moment i’m using http://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/8090-Death-Omen x 2. So would love to know how magic damage effects auto attack. I use Haunted Steel and Symbol of Solael on my weapons which changes 15% of my physical damage to Chaos/Vit.
Death omens do no elemental damage at all if you just auto attack. Now if you used the auto attack replaced from shard of beronath that does elemental damage but you are looking to stack chaos and vitality damage… I think ideally you want to find weapons that innately do chaos or vitality damage, there are plenty of good ones

When you say elemental damage on auto attack, do you mean % physical damage converted to % elemental damage? Sorry for the questions, trying to work out what weapons would be best for my Witch Hunter.
Thanks for the feed back:)
P.S. If what you are saying is true, then this build as a melee Vit/Chaos build is worthless…Not a single 1 handed weapon out there with Chaos/Vit as elemental damage.
Let me try make this a little clearer. Elemental damage in grim Dawn is specifically classified as fire, cold and lightning. Death omen has no elemental damage component listed or else it would say fire damage, cold damage etc. A melee chaos/but witch hunter is far from worthless however. Let’s say you have two fangs of chthon which deal exclusively base chaos damage. If you just use the auto attack it will then deal chaos damage and that damage will be increased by any %chassis damage increases and flat chaos damage increases. Your attack damage to health will also increase because you are increasing the damage of your chaos attacks. That make a bit more sense?
Take a look at mistborn talisman, at least for early levels. It’s a great auto attack replacer. Also take a look at the riftstone materia. Chaos strike is a very powerful skill.
Must thank you for this info. You literaly opened up the whole game for me with that explanation:D I had no idea about how the elemental/weapon damage multipliers worked. Thank you very much for this info.
hey sjihaat, could you maybe help me with your attribute allocation ? where should i put my points for the build that you listed, physique, cunning or spirit ?
