I don’t know if it is right to put up a thread like this, but don’t you find it weird that he/ Crate is totally ignoring these types of questions in the dev stream?

From what i’ve seen, he doesn’t like to talk or even hint about thinks that have not taken proper shape yet.
He said that he is hoping for a Whirlwind skill too like D2 barb when asked in the last stream so something is definitely up

Was he serious or just teasing you? Four masteries is a lot of work.

Four Masteries is unnecessary and will make balancing a bigger headache. It will also most likely shit on the meta considerably.

In Grim Dawn II if they want to do 10+ masteries I’d be fine as long as the number of damage types are less. They also should consider not separating Flat Damage and DoT damage of the same type i.e Acid and Poison shouldn’t be separate damage types.
I’d laugh my ass off if medierra actually makes a slingshot mastery

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If they weren’t adding masteries they would have already said as much. The fact that he’s being so tight-lipped but not denying it conveys that something is going on with it and they clearly regard it as “top-secret”. I wouldn’t be particularly surprised, if their current behavior is any indication, that they may not say anything on the subject til right around release.
I have no opinion about whether there will be a new mastery or not, but if there is, push powbam’s logic even further and don’t tell anyone. At all. Imagine the huge surprise.
And by doing that, gain…what?
If it/they arent done yet better not promise something that cant be delivered due to things like balancing issues appearing in closed “beta” which is fine, but if they are more or less finished then give us something, like numbers and general damage types.

I’d probably cry for months if they decide not to add any mastery. But if they add at least one mastery I’d go crazy happy that I’d end up buying people copies.
Best to not say anything that’s not 100% certain or can be miss-quoted and cause confusion… and as can be seen here, even not saying anything causes all sorts of guesses and “what’s the deeper meaning?”

I highly doubt any unannounced masteries aren’t going to be delivered due to “balancing issues”. I can’t even begin to tell you how laughable that is to me.
It isn’t about being a jerk move, it’s about keeping some things as a surprise. Last expac we all “knew” for the longest time what we were getting with the masteries, for the most part. It was a given.
Notice how in the very first FG announcement mention of masteries is conspicuously absent. I noticed it immediately. Completely intentional. And clear as a bell. And even clearer with the following Misadventure release and the streams where all questions concerning masteries were pointedly ignored and deflected.
This is the big secret for FG and it isn’t about being a jerk or because they are somehow worried that they can’t deliver (ludicrous). They’ve managed to make 8 masteries to date. I get the feeling they know what they are doing. It’s simply about keeping something as a surprise. Easy as that and it has Zantai’s fingerprints all over it and he’s sitting on it like a fat kid guarding his candy stash. His mouth is moving, saying “What candy? What are you talking about?” You know it’s there, you can see the chocolate smears all over his face and on his fat lil grubby fingers and is that a wrapper peeking out from under his ginormous assssss?
Alternatively they could put a bunch of Shaman items in the game before even teasing the Shaman…

What I said was Im perfectly fine with them NOT mentioning anything about masteries UNTILL they are properly done, NOT some fantasy youre cooking up about NOT beign able to deliver or deliver something, that ain`t done right.
