Veilwalker Utaro
Ancestors guide you, lowlander.
Are wights a common problem here?
Sadly, centuries of conflicts have denied many fallen heroes their final rites.{^n}{^n}In my younger years, I traveled the land to release the spirits of our ancestors to the mists beyond, but time has caught up with these old bones.
I see.
Farewell.
Ancestors guide you, lowlander.
Farewell.
The torrent of unrest emanating from Scarfell feels more tamed.{^n}{^n}Is it finished?
It is done.
We who are gifted with sight beyond the veil are laid with a terrible understanding.{^n}{^n}It falls upon us to right these wrongs. I thank you, lowlander, for playing your part.{^n}{^n}I cannot offer much. Perhaps this draught will help you forget some past ills.
It was...educational.
Just trying to help.
I thank you, lowlander, for aiding me in this. Time is finally catching up with me.{^n}{^n}I cannot offer much in thanks. Perhaps this draught will help you forget some past ills.
Thank you. Farewell.
I'll be right back.
I know what I ask is no trivial matter.{^n}{^n}You have my thanks, lowlander.
Where is Scarfell?
It is not far from here. Look for a tomb entrance within the Ruins of Utak Kunar.{^n}{^n}Most of the wights are beyond redemption, but the three I spoke of, Gund, Hassia and Maruda, could still be spared an eternity of torment.
Understood.
Nothing I can't handle.
I will settle this soon.
You! You are no mere traveler, are you, lowlander?{^n}{^n}I can see that you bind spirits to your will. As playthings? Or are they worthy companions?{^n}{^n}As one who has tested the limits of the veil between life and death, I do not judge. That is for the gods to decide.{^n}{^n}Spare a moment of your time, necromancer. I could use your expertise.
Go on.
Our land is rife with the remnants of past conflicts. The ruins we stand in are just another grisly reminder of the wars of old.{^n}{^n}Countless brave heroes lost their lives in the defense of Utak Kunar, but many never received their proper burial rites. Their spirits now languish were they fell, becoming bitter and twisted.{^n}{^n}I hoped to deliver them beyond the veil, but I see that the dead have reclaimed their remains and now roam as wights. I was getting ready to return to Kurnhold when you arrived, but you may be exactly what is needed.
You want me to deal with the fallen?
As these fallen heroes have turned into wights, there is little recourse beyond banishing them by force, something you seem well equipped to handle. If you are bold, you can try speaking with them, but wights rarely, if ever, respond to such tactics. They are trapped in the memories of their deaths and pursue only a violent reprieve.{^n}{^n}Please seek out the remains of Gund, Hassia and Maruda in Scarfell, beneath the Ruins of Utak Kunar. They were cherished heroes in their day. I hate to see them reduced to such a state.
I'll put these heroes to rest.
Of course, I will...handle this.
I'm sorry. I cannot do this.
I've already dealt with your spirits.

What is a wight?
A spirit denied its final rest will roam the land of the living in search of purpose. Left to languish like this, they become twisted by the poison of resentment and past grudges, turning once noble heroes into violent revenants. If they should return to their dessicated remains, they will awaken as a vengeful entity known as a wight.{^n}{^n}These undead creatures are driven only by anger and can rarely be reasoned with. I lack the combat prowess to handle them, so I am afraid my mission will end in failure.
I could deal with them for you.
I'm sorry to hear that.
This is not my problem.
I'm sorry. I cannot help you.
You presume too much.
I don't have time right now.
You are a curious sight to this veilwalker, lowlander.{^n}{^n}Spirits move about you. Many are at peace, but others screech for vengeance.{^n}{^n}You are as the Spring wind, a bringer of change.
What are you going on about?

You would do that for the Kurn?{^n}{^n}As we are now dealing with wights and not spirits, I'm afraid there is little to be done beyond banishing them with steel or sorcery. If you are bold, you can try speaking with them, but wights rarely, if ever, respond to such tactics. They are trapped in the memories of their deaths and pursue only a violent reprieve.{^n}{^n}If you are still willing, then seek out the remains of Gund, Hassia and Maruda in Scarfell, beneath the Ruins of Utak Kunar.
