Vanessa Margraves
Let's talk with Lesaunt, hopefully he can point us in the right direction.
Let's go.

Daylight is burning, stranger, you've gotta kill the Twin Omens once and for all.
The Twin Omens can wait... We need to go talk to Lesaunt together.
As you can see, I'm still in chains...
I will have the captain untie you, you have given us more than enough trustworthy information. Let's go to Lesaunt right away. (Have the captain untie her)
Hold on, you're still a captive of the Black Legion. You are going nowhere.
I'll be on my way to stop the Omens.
The Twin Omens are no more.
Hot Damn... you really did it. Cairn is a little bit warmer thanks to you, stranger.
Now that your sleep has been taken care of, let's go talk to Lesaunt together.

I really do feel relieved, but also at unease... I must have lost something in the crypt.
You've returned, and with a shiny new key! I would love nothing more than to bury a shiv right between those enormous bastard's eyes, but these guards won't take their eyes off me. I'm sure you got it covered, stranger.
The Twin Omens can wait... I found something far more disturbing in the crypt leading towards the Omens.
Is that... ? *GROANS IN AGONY* (Vanessa grips either side of her head, her knuckles white with tension)
Vanessa, what's wrong?!
It's like the nightmares I had before, but even stronger. I saw a shadow standing before a massive gate, I felt the fabric between the world of the living and the world of the dead shudder. Listen stranger, we're not done here. I know I've asked too much from you already, but if we don't find where this gate is and stop whatever that thing is, I'm afraid it's curtains for the living.
Nightmares? Like the ones Lesaunt had?
Lesaunt had nightmares, too? It's not much to go on, but it's a start at the very least. Let's talk with Lesaunt, hopefully he can point us in the right direction.

Hold on, what about the Twin Omens?
They are of secondary importance, but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't sleep better at night without them being alive.
Healthy sleep is very important, I will deal with the Twin Omens before we move any further.
They can wait for now.
The Twin Omens are already dead, but...
Hot Damn... you really did it. Cairn is a little bit warmer thanks to you, stranger.
I also found something far more disturbing than the Twin Omens.

It's like the nightmares I had before, but even stronger. I saw a shadow standing before a massive gate, I felt the fabric between the world of the living and the world of the dead shudder. Listen stranger, we're not done here. I don't think those things you killed were The Omen, they were just holding the real Omen back. I know I've asked too much from you already, but if we don't find where this gate is and stop whatever that thing is, I'm afraid it's curtains for the living.

I'll deal with the Twin Omens.
No way I'm going down that crypt.
Hang on I found something, but I lost it...
Have you tracked down Adrian Lesaunt yet?
Where do I have to go again?
Venture through the cave below the Darkvale Customs until you get to an exit leading to the other side of this mountain range and continue until you come across the Valley of No Wind. I have a hunch that the smith there, Adrian, knows more than he pretends to do. He might be able to back my story and repair the Luminari key.
Ok, I'll be on my way.
Not yet, I'll keep looking.
I have, but I still need to gain his trust to repair me the key.
Get the lead out stranger. If you can't stop the omens soon, then we're in deep trouble.
I'll hurry.
I'm afraid I lost the key.
You what?!? How? ... Good thing I keep some spare parts with me otherwise this questline would be broken forever.
Thank you, I'll be more careful in the future.

Have you tracked down Adrian Lesaunt yet?
I have, but I'm afraid I lost the key.

I think Captain Thistle wants to have a word with you. Get a move on! You need to act quickly before calamity strikes!
You risked your life for this key and yet it broke? What happened?

Alright
Did you come back to listen to more "fairy tales"?
Maybe they are more than that after all, where do I need to take the key again?

Oh, you seem the capable sort and, gods willing, you're more reasonable than that commander. I'd like to parlay.
I don't negotiate with murderers.
That's rather strange coming from the person drenched in the blood of my friends, but that's neither here nor there. You're going to want to hear what I have to say.
Go on then, start with why you're here.
Would you believe me if I told you that I'm here to save the world?
Not at all.
I thought not, and yet, it's the truth. You see, hundreds of years ago, my great ancestor, Harold Margraves, was the most brilliant scientist in all of Cairn. Much of the technology for firearms, runes, and arcane foci come directly from his research. Oftentimes, however, brilliance comes paired with ambition. Tell me, stranger, have you ever heard of the Eldritch Realm?
I have...
Why am I not surprised? Most people remain oblivious to the wiles of the Witch Gods, but then again, you don't strike me as "most people". We know that the witch gods have divided their realm into three domains; Bysmiel controls that of Will, Dreeg controls Knowledge, and Solael Power. But what if I told you that there's a fourth, yet unclaimed domain - Life.
That's a cute story, but does it have a point?
Patience, sweet stranger! We're just now getting to the good part. In all of his brilliance, grand poppy Margraves saw it fit to open a portal to the eldritch realm so that he may claim that power, but what he found on the other side was not providence, but death, namely, the Twin Omens who would freeze all of Cairn. The Luminari interrupted the ritual which encased the Twin Omens in their own black ice, but over time that ice thaws and those big bastards get right back to their grim work. I don't know about you, but I'm rather fond of the sun and I'd hate to see it blotted out.
This sounds like a convenient excuse to buy you more time. How can I be sure you're telling the truth?
Tell you what, why don't you just humor me. If you follow down this rabbit hole and none of it is true, then you can execute me, no harm no foul! But if I'm right, then we're both heroes. What do you say, stranger? Want to save the world with me?
I wouldn't mind looking into this. However... I doubt I can convince Captain Thistle to let you go.
You are not wrong. Fine. Here. Take this broken key. I am not offering this up lightly! I risked my life to get my hands on it. However, I'd rather pass it on to someone who can use it, than to have it burn a hole in my pocket while being stuck in the Black Legion's custody. Take it to the people in the Valley of No Wind. I have a hunch they will be able to confirm my story and help you deal with the situation.
Give me the key, I know where to go.
I'll take the key with me and investigate. How do I get there?
Venture through the cave below the Darkvale Customs until you get to an exit leading to the other side of this mountain range. There, you will come across the Valley of no Wind. There is a village in the valley. Go talk to their people! Like I said... I believe they will be able to back up my story and will hopefully be both willing and able to help deal with the threat of the Twin Omens! I believe their smith, Adrian, might even be able to repair the key I gave you.
Alright. I'll look into this.
This key... it's broken. What happened?
Broken by the ignorance of the outlaws that helped me get to this place. Damn those Grabowski brothers... always blinded by greed. They tried to swipe the key for themselves. Unaware of the dangerous magics within, they touched it with their bare hands... The key resonated to their touch and shattered. The ensuing explosion knocked everyone off of their feet.
Oh...
Not only did this alarm the guards... when the brothers came back to their senses, it was immediately obvious they weren't themselves anymore. Their eyes glowing with a deathly greenish tinge. Siegfried's bodily demeanor was off. An unsettling grin was stuck on his face. Gottfried went utterly insane. He started to speak in a tongue I have only heard of in the family tales. It shot cold chills down my spine.
Sounds very disturbing. What happened afterwards?
I quickly snatched the broken key pieces from the ground and ran. I ducked and dodged my way past the soldiers that were rushing towards the commotion. It was surprisingly easy to escape because... Whatever Siegfried turned into caused quite the scene. Our infiltration mission had turned into a bloodbath. Cries of Anguish echoed through the halls as I high-tailed out of there.
That story is quite the nightmare.
So... Do you want to take the key or not?
Alright. I'll look into this.
I'm getting chills from your fairy tales.
That story is quite the nightmare.
I don't believe a thing from your fairy tales.
I don't believe a thing from your fairy tales.
