So assuming there isn’t any hidden mechanics involving spirituality I think the Eternal Ice of Amatok is actively making my food problems worse rather than better.
Long story short, I made a temple early and pulled the Eternal Ice from an excavation site, but I was under the assumption that it said/meant “Food Spoils 25% Slower”. Then I looked again and saw it said “-25%”. So instead it makes my food spoil quicker? Is it due to a lack of spirituality? Eternal Ice Permafrost ?
It works now, but it also affects non food items. For example, flax goes from 48month to 60month lifetime when the relic is in the temple. There’s nothing wrong with that per se, but the text of the ice specifically mentions food, so there’s some inconsistency here.
Really? I worked in meat related industries. At room temperature, you should be able to store it for 12 months. When in a root cellar, it should have an extreme low decay; 12-18 months. RL you would freeze it, after which you can use it an easy 2-3 years. So, if you would go FIFO in FF, you should almost never have it expire.
Since I noticed it a lot, I thought so. The wiki says 60 months though, so, it seems I have been misinformed. Assuming that data is correct, its a nice period.
Same issue here, although this one actually works afaik. It is a bit weird though, my soldier upkeep went from 288 without the relic to 240 with the relic
These are the only soldiers I have. Based on my calculator’s calculations it should’ve gone down to 230.4, so either 230 or 231, not sure which way the game rounds in this case.
Important to note: I was playing with mods on this save, and I logged on it today on vanilla. So while
the two screenshots here are taken in vanilla, the 99.9% rest of this playthrough was modded. Would appreciate if someone can use this (rather useless) relic to see if their numbers are correct in a 100% vanilla game
Maybe It’s a rounding error, if the 20% discount is applied to each soldier one at a time, rather than to the total? For example, if you have 48 soldiers that cost 6 gold upkeep each, that’s 288 in total. A 20% discount means that they each cost 5 gold each (4.8, rounded up). And 5 * 48 = 240. This is different to applying the 20% to the total 288 and only applying a rounding error once (from 230.4 to 231).
Hard to say that that’s definitely a bug, but it’s probably fair to say that it’s not the expected outcome of most players.
