[1.0.0.5][Ranged][v1.0](u)(vid)(g4) Fire Lucky Luck (Fire Elementalist)

First of all, sorry for my english.

This was my first character. I tried to make an hybrid pet/shooter build, but I realized it wasn’t possible, so I stopped playing this character for a long time. I started to play it again and made several changed. Some players advised me in the forum and I made some changes in skills and gear. Now it’s a good character with a fair survivability thanks to the lifesteal and a lot of damage. Shaman skills are used only for defensive purposes.

Barrelsmith’s set is underrated by most of the people, but it gives us 3 passives. That means 4 procs (3 passives and 1 for fire strike). I tried to maximize the autoattack damage and now it can clean enemies quite well as you can see in the videos. Don’t play dual pistols at the beggining. Use 2H shotguns untill you have a powerful autoattack because it’s easier to kite using a 2H weapon than using 2 guns.

Thanks to the high lifesteal level of the iteams, we can tank some bosses in elite, but take care in ultimate. Try to kite as much as possible and don’t let them stun you. Try to get all ulzuin set, except the weapon. I put the weapon in the guide, but if you are planning to get it, you’ll have to modify skills and devotions.

Some skills of the items goes to WPS and other don’t. Let’s see the passives and their damage:

Skills
This build uses few skills, so it’s very comfortable and easy to play it.

Grim Dawn Calc: http://grimcalc.com/build/UeSdrxH
Grim Dawn Calc with item buffs: http://grimcalc.com/build/2SX7Z6y

Lets comment the skills:

Offensive Skills
Fire Strike
Our main attack. Maximize the skill as much as possible. Take care about mana. Using 2 guns and shooting quickly will make our mana decrease quickly. This skill has area damage too.
Thermite Mine
Very important skill against bosses to decrease their fire resistance. It’s not easy to use at the beggining, but as soon as you know where to place the mines, the game will be easier.

Defensive Skills
Canister Bomb
Use it for crowd control. It has a big area stun.
Flashband
Reduce enemy DA and can confuse them. It has a big area effect.
Blooddrinker
Gives us a lot of lifesteal. Usefull against lifesteal resistant bosses or in panic situations. 25% lifesteal for 8 seconds is a good skills.

Auras and Passives
Vindicative Flames
Speed, damage (close combat), stun (close combat) and health regen. No need to expend more than 1 point because we have items to increase points.
Flame Toucher
Damage booster.
Mogdrogen’s Pact
Increase our health points.
Aether-Ward Aura
+20 Aether Resistance.

Devotions
These are the selected devotions. Lets the the points:

  • Green Crossroads: 1 point
  • Purple Crossroads: 1 point
  • Jackal: 3 points
  • Akeron’s Skorpion: 5 points => Thermite Mine
  • Falcon: 5 points => Duelist (Barrelsmith’s set)
  • Ghoul: 5 points => Flame Touched
  • Rhowan’s Crown: 5 points => Blazing Fury (medal)
  • Solael’s Witchblade: 5 points => Crossfire (left hand)
  • Hydra: 6 points
  • Magi: 7 points => Salvo (right hand)
  • Ulzuin’s Torch: 7 points => Fire Strike

These procs have a percente to be activated by the skill. Let’s see the result:

Leveling Guide

Use a 2H gun at the beggining. Dual guns aren’t good if you have to kite and you don’t have a lot of damage. You can use a Hollowed Fang component in the weapon to get some lifesteal and destroy the weapon as soon as you get a better one, so you only need 1 component at the end.

Use the atribute points into physics untill you need mana, but this will only happen at the time we switch from 2H to dual wielding, so be prepared for the increase mana consumption at that monen (reserv some atributte points for that).

At level 50-60, you can switch to dual wielding. I recomend 2 Hollowed Fangs, so you can make elite quite easy and tank many bossed (take care about stuns).

I used 47 points in physics, 7 points in cunning and 37 in spirit (can’t change them now!!). I think it would be better to expend the 7 cunning points in physics. We need some spitir because of the mana. I had to expend more points in spirit because I used to expend all the mana, active the elixir and be out of mana before the elixir were ready again.

Conclusions
The build is consistent. You can farm ultimate quite quickly. You don’t need to have three hands to use this character, but it needs particular gear, so try to get some pieces before trying the character, or prepare to suffer.

This character can play crucible too. I beat aspirant dying once (Iron Maiden deleted me in less than 1 second thanks to the crit mutators) but I did it again and it was quite easy. I didn’t try it in challenger yet.

Added 3 tables with the skills/items effects and the devotion procs.

thanks will try this out :slight_smile: but you don’t use grenado? seems +skills of the pistols are wasted…

Grenado is a very weak skills for ultimate. You have to expending a lot of points to max its damage, but it isn’t still to high and has low área, so I preferencia to expending these points in other skills.

Grenado is usefull for veteran and elite, but after getting two good pistols, it has no sense to use it, at last in my opinion.

Dont bother posting builds that cant even do 150 challenger… Any build can do aspirant

I didn’t test the character in other levels of the crucible. Don’t forget crucible is a DLC. You can see how good/bad the character can do it againt diferentes bosses and runs.

Looks fun, but I’m wondering about your devotion choices and the skills they are assigned to. I can understand taking Falcon Swoop for the affinity even though it does very little damage for you, but why Scorpion? You are kiting half the time so the proc is pointless. How do you find the damage on the Magi and Fissure? I’ve always found it to be incredibly underwhelming for a 7 point devotion. Elemental Storm should be on Fire Strike instead of Meteor Shower. You also realize that some of these devotions have incredibly low chances to proc. For instance, both Fissure and Falcon Swoop have a 15% chance to proc on a wps that has a 10% chance to proc.

Out of curiosity, why an Elementalist instead of a Commando? You have so many skills in Demolitionist that you can drop that could be put to better use elsewhere if there was anywhere else to put them.

Also, if we didn’t post builds that couldn’t consistently do level 150 on challenger/gladiator, then there would only be a few builds on this forum.

The thing is atm clearing 150 challenger or glad asap is the best farming method by like a 300% efficiency factor. And people are usually looking for builds they can farm with.

It’s a long story. This was my first character. I wanted a ranged + pet to shoot fron the distance and use the pet as my tank. That wasn’t a good idea. I realized it was not working, so I changed and made a 2H build. I stopped playing that character for a long time and I read the forum and made some changes. Finally, I asked for help and got some good advices to change the build. I was amazed by some changes. Thermite mines are awesome against fire resistant enemies (like tyrants). I saved a lot of time in some runs.

About the devotions, I usually focus on getting one of the most powerful devotions. In this case, I chose Ulzuin’s Torch. I can maybe change any of the devotions.

Scorpion can be changed for Spider with probably better results. I chose Falcon because even it does small amount of damage, it gives me 3 purple points and one extra skill to add to my autoattacks (can use 5 procs with autoattacks). About fisure, it’s a fair skill and the devotion adds fire/burn damage to the build.

As I said before, I needed 5 skills to add to my autoattack. That’s the reason I don’t need other skills except defensive skills or Thermite Mines to reduce enemy resistances.

As I said before, this is Grim Dawn game, not crucible game. Most characters that play gladiator at high level are tanks or tanky builds. I don’t like melee and tank builds. I have 4 level 85 characters and I have a new one at level 66 (Ranged Pyromancer). I will make a tank in the future (probably), but not a character just to play crucible. I think it’s one of the most boring things to do in this game, play crucible all de day. I prefer to die.

Been trying this with sorcerer build it seems decent. Cannot kill fabius and valdaran though so will do some more tweaking. It’s not super strong but it’s decent, at least different from the usual dual wield ranged pyro/deviltongue sorc…

I forgot to upload the Valdaran video (i’m uploading it at this moment). I found him but it wasn’t a big problem. The lifesteal and hp is enought to deal with him. This was the first time I found him with this character: https://youtu.be/7p0Je-f1d8w

Hello ACBelMutie,

I’m playing Grim Dawn using your build and I don’t understand how you spent your devotion points.
I mean, how can you have Jackal without puting any points in Red crossroad (chaos) ?

Thanks for your answer :wink:

In order to get Jackal, you will need to put a point on red crossroad but since Jackal give you more than one chaos point, you can remove the point from crossroad as soon as you have finished Jackal

the constellation becomes “self-sufficient”

His devotion guide shows only the final state, not the intermediary steps :slight_smile:

Please, while to the Augments are enchanted powders, what and what items you used.

I’d use Kymon’s Will or Survivor’s Ingenuity in jewelry, anything to cap aether and other resistances in armor. Don’t know about weapons, i use rifle with Potent Creed’s Cunning.

Thank you Seemann !

Is this build still available in 1.0.0.7 ?

Hello, I think there is an error in the grimcalc.

How can you have 12 points in “Shattering blast” without puting any point in “grenado” ?

It was done with grimcalc 1.0.0.5, so now it is messed up.
Probably, it should be something like this: grimcalc.com/build/1007-LcfKSI
Well, it doesn’t work. Those 12 points are from flashbang or blast shield.

What do you mean ?
