I have finished literally everything in the game apart from the “Allies Among the Ashes” quest (don’t feel like siding with either the Chosen or Vigil) and want to get the final shine which apparently is in the afore mentioned tomb, yet the gate appears locked with no clear reason as to why or no indication of what to do.
Any help?
Pick a faction. That dungeon is populated with whichever faction you don’t pick, so it’s locked if you don’t pick a side.
Damn, I am playing HC and since RP-wise I wasn’t too inclined to choose either of those guys, I at least wanted to delay it until Ultimate where I’d better know what would benefit me the most.

You can look at all the faction gear on gracefuldusk or the gd wiki to see what they have to offer so you can see what you get out of each
You want to choose one or the other for sure as you can always swap on later difficulties. Their quests are mostly along the same path as they main story line so it’s pretty free exp plus some extra loot and boss encounters.
Ask the two reps what kind of equipment they offer, they’ll give you an overview.
If you can’t decide any other way, the Kymons nemesis is much deadlier than the Vigil one, so picking Kymons is a little bit of a safety play.
Uhh Zantarin can still one shot you, but yeah it’s relatively easier than Iron Maiden.
