Chthon, you mention that the Pierce Shield BM build you made it easier to gear, more newbie friendly than most of your other builds. How much harder is a build like this in terms of gearing etc? Thanks in advance.
[1.0.0.6] Markovian/Warborn Commando - Juggernaut - high physical dmg shield build + Crucible farmer
Hey guys,
havent played GD in a while as ive been busy with some other things, but i got the itch to fire it up and pickup where i left off with my Commando using this build as a guide.
So im 53, wearing perdition armor set i think its called? as it gives a ton of retaliation, i have some Golemborn Greaves which are required for this build i think? and im slowly filling out the skill points and devotion tree, overall the going is fairly easy but my resists need a bit of work, that can be sorted by some faction farming i am sure though.
My question is, should i look at breaking my full perdition set and start replacing bits with random greens / blues / purples etc while levelling now? or should i keep the retaliation dmg going with the set? if so what kind of level does this start to diminish to the point of not being worth using?
Currently im 53 on the 2nd playthrough (epic?) and just about to enter the Burrwitch cellars to find the apprentice and head on to Warden to complete Act1 i guess.
Because the build is not heavily set on retaliation, i will answer you that there are no real good reasons to keep perdition set ⌠and if i remember well, perdition set is based on acid retaliation damages and the build doesnât give any augment to it. But, at the stage you are, there are no real or crucial needs in any set or combination of items. Just watch out your resists and wear good green items, leveling is pretty easy.
For my leveling times i have used epic items âpraetorianâ and âguardmanâsâ sets for the Armor pieces, âRoyal Exeburanceâ (2 rings and 1 amulet - ⌠of the Crown. +1 all skills) for the jewelry, âAdornments of Valianceâ is also a very good alternative (2rings, 1 amulet, 1 medal).
By the way, there are good lvl50-58 legendary items that you can wear in order to make your leveling safe or better : amulet Avatar of Mercy makes your leveling very safe. Legs : âDemonplate legplatesâ (lvl50 - +2 overguard) and after âHellforged Legplatesâ (lvl58 / +2 Cadence) that you should keep till you get a good green Dreeg sect ; Hands : âVoidsteel gauntletsâ (lvl50 / +2 Cadence) that you should keep till you can wear âColossal Graspsâ. For the chest, you can either wear âDevilâs cage Hauberkâ (more offensive) or âShroud of Illusionâ (more defensive). For the shield âMeat shieldâ for HP and proc or âthe final stopâ are good lvl 50 shields before Siegebreaker.
Youâre lucky i happen to stop by to read this, otherwise itâs easy to miss questions directed to me in someone elseâs build thread
Well both Pierce and Physical are easy to gear. Pierce is like the younger brother of Physical in this game
A build like this is the easiest to gear because Shield + Soldier = GG
Fluffâs Commando works well w/o too much end game gear and i am sure itâd perform well w/o end game items. Same thing for the Pierce Shield BM i posted
Thanks for the tips, currently im looking like this
Level 56
Weapon - Death Omen
Shield - Templars Faith
Chest - Obsidian Plate Curass
Legs - Legplates of Valor
Helm - Face of Perdition (need to change this asap)
Shoulders - Divinesteel Shoulderguards
Hands - Handguards of Perdition
Feet - Golemborn Greaves
Ring 1 - Goliath Signet
Ring 2 - Devil War Seal
Neck - Lapis Lupus
Belt - Chains of Anguish
Medal - Combat Medic Mark
Relic - Rampage
Any tips for anything immediate that may better those for this build around the 45-58 level?
Do NOT use Deathâs omen. Any superior mace even, will do far better. Omen turns part of your phys dmg to vitality dmg. The % convert to health part is not life steal but conversion to vitality.
If you canât find a good physical mace buy one from legion faction;)
Also do not use chains of anguish. that debuff is too much
Thanks for the response. These Shield and Soldier builds are quite fun I think. Iâm currently 79 in early Ult difficulty and other than red names, everything is face-tankable. Itâs fun to Blitz around and take so much punishment while dishing it out at the same time.
Am looking for commando tank build. What I did by my own - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/a2EodjZd
This is a lazy build through Fire Strike. Want to try it, and please any suggestions about devotions and skills? Didnât take Overguard, Blastshield and Warcry because of a strong lazyness. One-button-build.
Swapped the Chains for an Empowered Warchiefs belt, cant find a decent 1h yet tho, tried to make one but ran out of mats, not enough black legion faction yet either so will keep on grinding in the hope something suitable drops
You wonât do any damage with 1h fire strike+ such defensive devotion combo. I tried with Justicar set, and other stuff:p
I have been gone for a few months and itâs a real shame to see all the changes made to this build, only at the end of Normal though so should be easy enough to go Warborn instead of Markovian I guess. Although I do like the more tanky sets in ARPGâs.
To make sense of the changes to Markovian I made a Markovian super tank. Basically unkillable, and good for HC players too. It also makes use of the new MArkovianâs defense transmuter and has CS 26/26 instead of Blitz.
I havent released the video yet. Iâm not sure people are really interested in such a build and iâve also worked a lot on all the changes
Well I would love to see more about this Markovian Super Tank, and your insightâs on this offshoot version of the build. But understandable if you donât want to release something if not finished/untested.
Itâs tested + video made. just didnât make a guide on it:) It is a brick wall in crucible.
Was also debating whether I should make a new thread with it or add it to this guide which is getting a bit too big and people will be like:undecided:
Just take a look into the Cadence Witchblade-Thread⌠a new thread would be the best way I guess.
Iâm excited to see this build, even if Iâm leveling the mentioned Cadence Witchblade atm. I wonder which one does better in crucible.
Depends on what better is for you. Being an unkillable brick wall means you trade off damage. Cadence Witchblade and the offensive Warborn comando will kill faster. The tank build i made is for 100% chance of success and for HC players (although the character was conceived in HC)
A new thread sounds good yes.
Had an old warder that i didnt like the performance of. So i took this build and put points in shaman mastery that i thought would be nice. Result is that it doesnt suck anymore thanks to Superfluff
Love the Commando more though.
Any updates on this, looking forward to the new build.
One problem with that build is that although made for markovian, Warborn can do it better in many respects.
Markovian is supposed to be better at tanking yet Warborn had extra 90 armor total from set bonuses, 5% phys resist from shoulders, 20% phys resist from sigebreaker which blocks more damage than Mark Bulwark and denies that 50% more damage blocked mark has. On top of that Warborn has more damage and + skills.
What you are left with Markovian is 3k extra hp and the proc that is slightly synergistic with Markovian defense transmuter.
So. Iâm still debating this.
Also, as a fun thing, Markovian also has some %bleed damage on it. Would you believe me if i told yo that bleed hybrid based Makovian Witchblade with butcher of burrwitch as weapon can work better than both physical versions of commando and witchblade? Itâs silly good. The nerf to 1h phys dmg was far too aggresive.
Iâm considering posting this build instead just to make the point.
Sounds interesting! Can you post a grimtools link for the build if you have a moment?
