[1.0.0.7] Craftable cold/frostburn spellbreaker

Somewhat quick answer! Thanks OP.

Just for curiosity sake, what would you say would be Best in slot for this build?

I’m kinda curious here. :stuck_out_tongue:

For this build specifically? The items I use are best in slot :stuck_out_tongue:

OP - I’m level 16 in Act 1 (Veteran). When I come up to monsters like the uniques for Harmond’s questline, I seriously become a marshmellow and can’t complete the objective. All trash is handled readily by OFF, but I have nearly zero single-target DPS.

Here’s my build: http://grimcalc.com/build/1007-7xWvpc

Not sure what to do as I level.

Thanks!

Also: Who do you pick during the game in terms of Angrim/Duncan and Kymon/Death’s Vigil?

Thanks!

Pick whoever you like imo :stuck_out_tongue:

Outcast is the only you need to save since her augment is BiS for cold weapons

I guess Amarasta’s Blade Burst + Tsunami would help you against bosses.

You can pick both blacksmiths, one in Normal and the other in Elite for example. I like Angrim better though.

And I went with Death’s Vigil, because 1- you need their helm and 2- if you are given the choice you might as well fight Kymon’s guys who aren’t cold resistance.

Which augment? I use the health regen augment from the Rovers!

Lol, it’s called Outcast’s Frostbite.

It’s your wish whether you want to use it or not though

is this the same build that smh666 is using? I can’t see his builds nor ask him about because language…

Who’s that?

Looks like hes streaming on twitch right now…

I’m glad I found this build, after reading that 1.0.0.7 wasn’t super kind to spellbreakers I started a witchblade but you mentioned that after 1.0.0.7 your build benefited because of the buff to frostburn.

Anyway, hopefully someone can help me with a question I have about my current spellbreaker. My attribute point allocation is almost all in spirt, I did this before reading that physique was the best way to go for most characters. I’m level 49 with 30 points in spirt and 5 in physique, should I remake my spellbreaker?

Or should I just focus on physique from now on? If I do that would I weaken my character in some other way because I would need gear with higher physique and miss out on another stat?

I have no clue who that is, but no that’s my personal build.

You should be ok, the gear doesn’t require that much physique.

Thanks for the quick reply

Will I need to increase my survivability using other methods since I’m lacking in physique and by doing that weaken my character in another way?

Like for example if I need to choose constellations that increase defense/health regen/physique because of my lack of points in the physique attribute instead of picking ones that would otherwise add to my damage output and there for handicap my character.

I guess I just restated my first question but I just wanted to be clear, I’m not as worried about gear atm as I am about my damage/survivability balance moving forward. This game is certainly not lacking in build flexibly and I’m probably over thinking this but these forums are a great resource to figure out questions that I would otherwise continue to struggle with.

Just started using the build and the difference between my old thrown together build and this one is really awesome. My damage output seems higher and I’m much tougher to kill. Still using my old gear and I wasn’t able to max out all the listed skills in the nightblade tree and I don’t have enough skill points for the last few arcanist skills but so far I like playing the build. I’m missing points in devotions too but I tried to focus on health increase with the points I currently have.

Sorry if this is obvious, but I’m new to the game.

I’m wondering what that new build would look like:

  • What would you remove from Arcanist to get 27(?) points freed up for ABB/Lethal Assault?
  • How would the devotions change to get Leviathan/Whirlpool?
  • And… is it not possible to change this build instead of levelling up a new toon? I’d have thought the increase to monster OA would mean fewer crits, meaning Blizzard procs less, so changing that might be a good idea anyway?

EDIT: Noob question: you say all the gear is craftable, do I just wait for the blueprints / recipes to drop or is there some way to go get them myself? Factions/vendors perhaps?
If it will take time then is there some recommended gear I could use in the meantime that is ‘gettable’?

Glad you’re enjoying the build! Honestly going all the way into the Arcanist Mastery for Star Pact is not key to the build, Nightfall and all the procs are our main damage dealer. Star Pact is just a bit of extra frostburn.

  • Less points in the mastery bar and no investment in Star Pact I guess.

  • No clue, I haven’t figured it what I want to do with the devotion yet.

  • What do you mean by changing the build? I want to have several characters, not just respec one when it reaches 85. Also Blizzard procs a lot because it’s bound to Shadow Strike and Nightfall so there are a lot of targets.

Boots and Helm are buyable from Homestead and Death’s Vigil faction vendors, but yes the rest comes from recipes that would will find on bosses mostly.

For the gear just take anything that’s good, including yellow items with high resistances. There are also some good cold epics.

KoalaeiO - What do I use for attacks until I can get the items that have the primary skills?

Ok good to know, and yeah the build is kicking ass so far. I just made it to ultimate last night and having a much easier time with the game compared to before.

Good question, I didn’t realise there were so many item-based skills in the build until I saw that post. Maybe you just level as something else? Seems you have to do that in a lot of the forum stickied builds.

One idea on levelling is using the possible new build KoalaeiO suggested using ABB, losing points from Arcanist. If you don’t go for Star Pact then you only need 20 points in Arcanist (not sure if it’s a good idea to go that far, might need the attributes?!)…

But it would be easy enough to free up the points for the ABB skill set. Then you level using OFF, SS, ABB and VoS? Could be fun.
My breaker ahs 50 in Arcanist mastery so I’ll probably have to start a new char for this build.
