For leveling, I think you could start with maxing out Olexra’s Flash Freeze, then Night’s Chill and Veil of Shadow. By level 18 you can have all three skills at max rank which provides a good cold AoE.
Then maybe ABB and Lethal Assault? That could help against bosses. And 1 point in Shadow Strike + 12 points in Nightfall for some extra frostburn damage and AoE.
For Devotion, I would take Tsunami + Amatok + Hawk + Crossroads blue and green. That gives you two new sources of cold/frostburn for only 14 devotion points (about the end of act II).
I think that covers Normal mode pretty much

Now that Amarasta’s Blade Burst has been buffed, I think I’m going to level up a similar build but using two Empowered Reaper’s Touch instead. More points into ABB+Lethal Assault and less points into Arcanist. Maybe less devotions related to health regen and a good old Whirlpool instead.
Edit: two cold exalted daggers “of Fury” would work well too Loxmere’s daggers if you are rich.

Been Rocking this build so far, and I am right now 79 (thanks by the way).
While I can identify each component by the visual alone, I cannot with augment. Could you give me your insight of what to put in each equipment? Also are those gear in the Screen shot the Best in Slot?

For the augments, we have:
- Armor: 5x Mankind’s Vigil (Legion), 1x Spellward Powder (Death’s Vigil), 1x Bladeward Powder (Devil’s Crossing).
- Jewelry: 3x Mogdrogen’s Sanctity (Rovers).
- Weapons: 2x Troll Wart Powder (Rovers).
Don’t underestimate this build. Using Scourge Strike as LMB Nuke is not very common. The build’s pretty creative. If anyone wants to use a different weapon then use Lox’s daggers (good luck getting them though :))
KoalaeiO: Would you be able to provide a early-game leveling guide. I think this build will break me out of my, “Gee, what can I put with Soldier?” doldrums.
I am not gear rich, but if this can be hobbled together with self-found, I’d love to give it a shot.

You can there’s nice chap in Plains of Strife who goes by the name Loxmere Nightmage. Go and politely ask him for his daggers. That’d be a start.
Also, if you notice Kal’s isn’t using BIS setup he’s using faction gear to prove how easy it’s put this setup together.

For leveling (I’ve never played an Arcanist), I’ve always heard max OFF and steamroll through Veteran into Elite? Is that the case here, or should I be shooting for some Nightblade skills earlier (like Pneumatic Burst, VoS, and SS)?

It definitely works with self-found and faction items but procs from unique items are so satisfying.
For the leveling guide I’m not exactly sure since I had this character since B25 or so, but this is probably how I would level it today: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=460705&postcount=43. Maxed out Nightfall is a real nuke if you can get it early.
Nex is great. I used to have it on this character before I changed and focused on frostburn.
You could make a variation of this build with two Nex and stack up attack speed. I also have a lot of hopes for the 8th Mastery. If it has vitality/cold support, replace Arcanist with it and get these shinny Nex ready!
For attacking…I have VoS and IEE up. I get into a pack and pop OFF (never realized how cheese it makes things early). I just default attack as filler between OFF. Anything I could assign to LMB to help things?
I guess you could use a maxed out ABB and go less far in the Arcanist Mastery.
Sorry to bug you so much…with 1pt in ABB, what were/are you using it for in your combat rotation?
Oh no that’s some leftover.
I have Dryad’s Blessing bound to Scourge Strike, but back when I played some Crucible I used the Juggernaut relic instead of Scourge for its great health regeneration, so I needed another LMB skill and used one point in ABB. No more Crucible now so this skill point could be refunded.
Did you ever try this with lox’s daggers?
