Hey everyone.
This build is a pretty gear-dependant, very button-mashy, glass cannon caster, focused on high Grenado damage, and paired with Time Dilation + Ulzuin’s Chosen to allow for (sometimes) many repeated Grenados. This build is heavily inspired by FluorineWizard’s Time Dilation/Doom Bolt Warlock, and a bit by Superfluff’s Full Ulzuin Sorcerer, so kudos to them!
This build is pretty good, but doesn’t have as high damage as the popular SS coldbreakers, and is probably too squishy to reliably clear Gladiator Crucible, but it is a lot of fun nonetheless.

Overview
These stats are shown with the constant auras up.
http://www.grimtools.com/calc/dVbDnYNJ
A few things to note:
- 7700 health is preeeetty low, but we do have three circuit breakers and high Mirror of Ereoctes uptime to somewhat offset this.
- 0% stun resist is kinda spooky, so you can swap the Prismatic Diamond for a Leathery Hide if you wish. I have been trying to figure out how to get the first point in Empty Throne without losing out on too much other stuff, but haven’t been able to so far. Stun also usually hits through Mirror and the circuit breakers, so it is possible to get stun locked to death.
- 12/12 Flashbang reduces enemy DA by 250, giving us an effective 2850 OA.
- 12/12 BWC reduces enemy OA by 144, giving us an effective 2350 DA.
[ul]Grenado damage variance is pretty high, it can hit anywhere from 30k up to 200k. With all the debuffs up on a legitimate boss, Grenado usually hits for around 120k.

Gear
As I said before, this build is quite gear dependant. I went for the 4 pieces of the Ulzuin’s Set, as they offer decent resist options, as well as the juicy +2 to all Demo skills set bonus. The rest is mostly to cover resists, and give bonus damage. The only really necessary items are Warpfire and Ulzuin’s Headguard, but the build won’t work as well without the rest of the items.
Weapons:
Main Hand: Warpfire - Definitely required, the +1 to all Demo and Arcanist skills is great, the passive RR proc is amazing, and it gives a buttload of bonus damage.
Offhand: Aldanar’s Vanity - This is the only offhand that I have tried, but I think Tome of the Arcane Wastes would probably work just fine too. Before I had tested the build in practice, I was thinking that I could use Skyreach Bulwark for some tankiness, but then I realized that it didn’t offer any CDR, and it wouldn’t let me use Devastation. It could still work though. The proc from Aldanar’s Vanity is sometimes relevant in longer fights, but it usually procs off the initial fight setup, which isn’t particularly useful.
Armor:
Head: Ulzuin’s Headguard - Definitely required, the 15% passive RR is really good, and it has CDR, solid resists, OA and damage bonuses. Note: you can use Prismatic Diamond for the neat circuit breaker, or Leathery Hide for the stun resist, it’s up to you.
Shoulders: Ulzuin’s Shoulderguard - Another piece of the Ulzuin set, that’s really all it’s there for.
Chest: Ulzuin’s Chestguard - Also another piece of the Ulzuin set.
Legs: Stonehide Solael-Sect Legguards - Probably not 100% needed, but definitely makes resist capping much easier. If you have an of Kings suffix as well, then all the power to you.
Hands: Light’s Defender Gauntlets - Probably the best hands in the game. The proc is great, the resists are great, the cast speed is great, can’t go wrong with these. You could alternatively use Wyrmbone Handguards, as they have more relevant + skills, more health, and OA.
Feet: Golemborn Greaves - Mainly there for the sweet pierce resist.
Waist: Ulzuin’s Torment - Mainly there for the +1 to all Demo skills.
Jewelry:
Amulet: Heart of Ulzuin - Another piece of the Ulzuin’s set, has decent resists I guess.
Ring 1: Invoker’s Burning Hand - Good resists and cast speed, and some bonus damage.
Ring 2: Entropic Coil - Same as the Burning Hand, but different.
Medal: Mark of Divinity - The passive is our last line of defense, and we actually make use of the + skills to Ulzuin’s Chosen!
Relic: Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm - Of course.
Skills
The points are surprisingly tight, considering that we have +6 to all Demo skills. Also 90 Physique.
Actives:
Grenado - The main damage skill, what the build is focused around. It does a lot of damage.
BWC - Decent AOE damage, can be used to deal with weaker trash mobs. Good debuffs and good at applying Eldritch Fire.
Flashbang - Good debuff
Thermite Mines - Good debuff.
Devastation - Can be used for annoying large packs of trash, or against bosses with large hitboxes.
Callidor’s Tempest + Wrath of Agrivix - Used for the 100% chance to proc Time Dilation, plus it is a very fast casting skill. Also used to apply Viper.
Mirror of Ereoctes - The main form of defense for the build. Always remember to use Mirror before activating Time Dilation.
Nullification - Good for removing annoying enemy auras like Madqueen’s.
Passives:
Flame Touched - Tons of bonus damage and OA. I actually don’t grab Temper, even though it goes to 12/12 with one point, as the point is more useful elsewhere. Feel free to put a point into Temper though.
Vindictive Flame - Good speed bonus pretty much.
Ulzuin’s Chosen - The key to the build. This allows us to cast multiple Grenados back-to-back, giving some pretty insane damage. I have it maxed because each percent for the cooldown reset is pretty relevant. Unfortunately, the bonus only applies to Grenado, but that’s really all that matters.
Blast Shield - The first circuit breaker, one of the primary lines of defense.
Iksandra’s Elemental Exchange + Elemental Balance - Mostly for the +% crit damage, this is one of the flex spots for skillpoints.
Inner Focus - Good OA and spirit bonus.
Arcane Will - A decent one point wonder, can be dropped for something else though.
Mental Alacrity - Another one point wonder, the build can run into energy issues without it though. Also droppable.
Star Pact - The cold conversion is unfortunate, but the bonus lightning damage and CDR more than make up for it.
Devotion:
Most of the constellations are there to reach Time Dilation. Arcane Bomb and Eldritch Fire are great sources of RR, and Giant’s Blood is a heal. I would like to squeeze in some health nodes and the first node of Empty Throne, but I haven’t figured out how to yet. Maybe when the expansion hits
Gameplay
The general fight goes like this:
Chaos strike in (or don’t) which applies Viper
Devastation
Two applications of Thermite Mines
Flashbang
BWC
Try to spam Grenado as many times as possible
Mirror
Callidor’s Tempest to reset everything
Grenado some more
One tip for stringing Grenados together is to watch the Grenado skill icon, and whenever it is in the greyed-out “currently casting” state for a little longer than it should be, that means that the cooldown has reset because of Ulzuin’s Chosen, and you can recast it. It definitely takes some getting used to, but this seems to be the fastest way of determining if Grenado cooldown resets. I suppose you could also listen for the dude that tells you when you’re skill isn’t ready, but I rarely play with sound on, so that isn’t useful
Leveling
It’s a sorcerer, just use OFF and fireballs/CT to level until 50, then use Grenados. Or whatever, really.
