[1.1.1.2] Retaliation Warlord +85SR, godmode

Hello, I don’t feel confident enough to call it guide, it’s just a build and experiences I want to share with you and I hope you will help me improve it - I’m not the best builder and player, made it mostly with trials and errors so there can be some mistakes  I’m new on the forum so i don’t know every rules here, if topic’s form is not correct, please don’t blame me.

Build is capable to go +85 (I guess over 90 is possible in good hands) with basically with no effort, just need some good RNG with bosses (I’m looking at you Kaisan ). Consumables or shrines are not needed.

Concepts:
I’m trying to get tankiest nobrain setup as possible - with some damage sacrafice if necessary. Help me improve it if you could

EDIT: Thanks to Belzzzz and Ptirodaktill i have improved some things.
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/gZwOpvXZ - no greens

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/O2GmjQXZ - MI’s rings, easy for GD stash  Mythical Reforged Chains of Oleron can be sweep for Mythical Tinker’s Ingenuity versus Kaisan or even for perma use - damage lose is not really noticable and it provides a lot of poison resists.

Edit:
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RVvO44EZ - last setup, reached 90 with it, no consumables/shrines. Seal of Might in Shield swept for Purifiet Salt, helped a lot vs Alexander and Shaper of Realm which i met first time in 89, he hit likes truck. Also life leech resistance is nice vs some Vampiric suffix heroes. Mythical Sanctus Crest swept for Mythical Markovian’s Strategem - more damage and elemental monsters are not so dangerous so it can be better choice. Rune of Displacement swept for Rune of Amatoh’s Breath - faster animation, less cooldown, i have stopped locking myself on monsters for some reason, can go past them. Took points from Consecration to Hearth of Wrath and Crushing Verdict, it helped A LOT in multicheesing bosses like Grava’thul, Reaper of Lost and Alexander pulled all together - I can’t stood and atack them so trauma damage and more retaliation did slow job.

I took Bat because in my experience it provides great sustain, in +80 with screen full of heroes and some nemesis life is jumping like crazy due to lifesteal but god mode is still on. It can be wrong choice, i can feel placebo effect - feel free to correct me.

Gameplay:
Shards:
Between boss rooms you can face tank everything, just walk trough the map pulling everything and do not stop if there are no mobs on whole screen - everything should die anyway while following you and it’s faster. It’s worth to stop only versus some meele nemesis (like reaper) who will die faster. Try to avoid Grava’thul and Kaisan, they are the ones dangerous. If you pull their agro, just ignore them and keep walking killing trashes and heroes. Kubacapbra can be annyoing but he is not dangerous himself, ignore him too, he will eventually die during following you.

Boss rooms:
Don’t jump exactly into all bosses, this build has mediocre kiting potential. Walk slowly on edges of the room and try to bait 1v1 bosses which don’t need any kiting - pull Grava’thul and Kaisan as last(kuba should be low priority too) because in most cases you can’t just facetank them and fighting them will bait another bosses making fight a lot of harder/even impossible.

Dangerous enemies:
Kaisan - in high shards it’s gg if he pull agro at start, especially in small arena. His crystals are very hard to destroy, he spams them on whole room and it requires kiting - you pull other bosses, personally i can’t manage that. Maybe you guys have some tactic on him in +80, please share it with me if so.

Grava’thul - due his mana and buffs vaporizing you can’t facetank him. He is less problematic than Kaisan anyway, used to kill 2x gravas and some additional bosses without pulling in 80s without dying. Just run in circles, spam your Judgment and Vire casscade (do not stop), he will die slowly. Always pull him as last boss.

Kubacabra - not dangerous in terms of damage dealing, just very annyoing and need kiting so he can destroy your progress if he starts following you at start. You can still kite him on the edges of the map (just don’t show yourself to other bosses) with teleport and staying for a seconds in his pools, he shouldn’t heal himself enough. Run as rarely as possible. It can take a while but it’s safest method in my opinion.

Valdaraan - not dangerous either, he can just teleport you on the middle so in consequences you are gonna facing other bosses.

Alexander - he is going to be dangerous over 85s, his metheor can one shot me from full hp to 0 in some cases. He has few seconds cooldown on meteor, running around him without stopping helped me to dodge it. Discovered some cheese method, in some places you can just stand and his one shot meteor will hit the wall. Place on teleport arena: https://imgur.com/BATvgtr. There is place like that in Lava arena too but hadn’t take screenshot yet. Without his one shot mechanic he is basically harmless and can be facetanked without moving.

Hero monsters with Arcane suffix - they have some mana/buffs burn mechanics like Grava’thul, try to not fight them in group on monsters, let them follow you and do not stop.

Hero monsters with Vampiric suffix - due to their lifesteal it’s not worth to fight them in most cases. Just skip.

Rest bosses are not a problem, pull them 1 by 1 anyway for easier experience. Including bosses mentioned above i don’t see any difference between 65 and 80s SRs as example, they still do not damage, just killing time is a little bit slower. E: after 85 everything should be taken seriously.

Some positioning trick which helped me when i thought situation is worthless and passing fight is not possible:
You can position bosses if they started agro on you in group for taking them 1vs1 again. Just run on farthest edge of the map from spawn point and suicide after all of them group on you. After going to arena for the second time they can lost interest in you/can change their positions and you can bait them one by one again.

I don’t record and screenshots runs usually, took one for example from last run:
https://imgur.com/DRKVq9J - 85 with almost 10 minutes left, no deaths/consumables/shrines. Before Kaisan who jumped on me with other boss right after entering arena, couldn’t even pull enemies 1 by 1. Got totally wrecked, with some RNG and in better hands build can definitely go above without much troubles.

E: https://imgur.com/FKi69G1 - reached 90, there were only one easy boss left in the arena and GAME CRASHED, GG Crate, i won’t attempt high push anymore until crashing problem is solved.

That’s everything what i would like to share with you, please give me some advices how to improve builds (both purple/green setups) if you have any
Sorry for some possible grammar mistakes, english is not my national language but i hope everything is understable.

Your explanation were perfect and this could easily be a guide. Nice work

Some more questions/thoughts :

  • (Devo) Why Targo (Shield Wall) over Obelisk (Stoneform) ?
  • Soft maxing Celestial Presence and/or Overguard would help ?
  • Shattering Smash seems unnecessary with War Cry providing the flat RR.

Swap some equipment when facing Kaisan. There is a belt that provide +7% max poison resist and a medal .

  1. Good point! Didn’t realize i can take it  Obelisk would be definitely better, gonna change it later.
  2. Celestial Presence is not necessary imo, damage is enough. For Overguard i would need to unlevel some other skills, what would be good choice in your opinion?
  3. Doesn’t that 1 point helps a little? I’m not mechanic specialists, still learning, why is it unnecessary?

Ptirodaktill - after getting some free time on the evening i’m going to try setup like that, i will post my experiences after, thanks for advice

Shatt.Smash is only a wps, doesn’t proc very often and doesn’t do that much damage. War Cry, that you took, has better resistance reduction and will overwrite ShSm one (the best “flat number Reduced Target’s Physical Resistance” wins).
You could do something more like this :

Made some changes, thank you guys very much for advices.

Only I have no idea what medal Ptirodaktill has in mind. Can’t find any with +max poison recistances and there are no suffixes/prefixes in rares for that.

Im pretty new how do you dw shields

You don’t need to be experienced to post a guide mate, just information.

If you fleshed it out a little more (e.g. devotion pathing and the rationale behind it, piloting advice, etc.) it would make a great guide.

A+, sir.

thank you sir

Reached 90, could go higher if not gentle game crash. Added setup which gave me best results and some tactics.

Most interesting thing I discovered was cheese for Alexander’s meteor making him hit the wall all the time and making fight very easy. https://imgur.com/BATvgtr. Possible in Lava arena but hadn’t take screenshot yet.

Nice build, added to my thread.
