That is good idea with that medal, because the lightning conversion is useless anyway thanks to AAR transmuter
Yes, it is possible (another Chaos AAR build used that medal, if I remember correctly. Look in Compendium). I prefer my current medal though.
You can take Fiend, Imp, Magi - all are good. Again, it is up to personal preferences and available optional gear.
This one [1.1.7.2-1.1.8.0] Chaos Ray Warlock (SR 100, 4:48 Fastest Crucible, Crate, Callagadra, Ravager of Minds) uses Ulzuin medal.
Patch 1.1.9.1 does not contain any changes for this build . And no AAR nerfs… strange.
Hello again, my Chaotic friends . Time to blow some dust from this old build of mine and see if it is still fit for current 1.1.9.6 patch.
The main topic was updated with new Grimtools link, as well as some information adjustment. Offensive and defensive setups were obsolete, so I removed them for good. Sorry if someone used them to make their own AAR obliterators . Oh, and here is SR 75 video in 1.1.9.6 patch, of course (a little bit rusty, forgot how to play AAR builds properly
).
Damage is okay, somewhat squishy for SR75+, most comfortable for 65-66 range farming. The rest of endgame content should not be much harder.
What more to say? Just play and see. Have fun .

- Mythical Aethereach: added % Vitality damage added 24 Vitality damage modifier for Albrecht’s Aether Ray
- Mythical Essence of the Grim Dawn: increased % Attack damage Converted to Health modifiers for Albrecht’s Aether Ray and Flames of Ignaffar to 5%
- Aspect of the Guardian: increased base % Physical Resist by 2% and increased % All Retaliation damage scaling with rank
- Arcane Will: increased Defensive Ability scaling with rank to 200 by rank 10, 380 by max ultimate rank
- Maiven’s Sphere of Protection: increased % Damage Absorb scaling with rank to 22% by rank 12, 32% by max ultimate rank
Some defense bump and even small QoL/Damage for our AAR. Great! Maybe there is even more in last remaining patches, who knows? Until next time!

- Mythical Essence of the Grim Dawn: added 344 Health. Increased % Attack damage Converted to Health modifiers for Albrecht’s Aether Ray and Flames of Ignaffar to 8% and increased their Chaos damage modifiers to 28 and 65, respectively.
- Solael’s Witchfire: increased Defensive Ability to 40
- Solemn Watcher: replaced % Cold Resist with 18% Chaos Resist
- Bloody Pox: increased Bleed damage scaling with rank
- Wasting: increased Vitality damage scaling at ultimate ranks. Increased % Bleed damage scaling with rank to 144% by rank 12, 264% by max ultimate rank
- Black Death: increased % Bleed and % Vitality damage scaling with rank to 144% by rank 12, 264% by max ultimate rank

My first posted endgame build is about to close my updating work for 1.2.0.3 patch. That was a long journey, yeah . Anyway, what do we have?
- Mythical Voidwalker Footpads: reduced Cooldown on the granted skill
- Black Scorch Covenant: increased Duration modifier for Sigil of Consumption to +3s
- Abomination: increased Health to 800 and Offensive Ability to 120
- Candle: reduced Energy Regeneration to 2.5
- Dying God: added 8-20 Chaos damage for pets and increased Defensive Ability to 55
- Ghoul: increased Health Regeneration to 16 and % Health Regeneration to 30%
- Raven: reduced Energy Regeneration to 1.0 and increased Lightning damage for pets to 9
- Ghoulish Hunger: added % Increased Healing (Forgotten Gods only) and added % Cast Speed
- Blood of Dreeg: reduced Cooldown to 12s and increased Duration to 60s. Increased Energy Cost and Health Regeneration scaling with rank. Increased % Heal at scaling at ultimate ranks.
- Possession: increased % Absorption scaling with rank to 18% by rank 12, 25% by max ultimate rank
- Arcane Will: increased Defensive Ability scaling with rank to 250 by rank 10, 500 by max ultimate rank

For this Chaos build I decided to use my standard devotion setup, Abomination + Dying god with Revenant and Ghoul. Main topic has been cleared, with new GT link, videos except for Mogdrogen with addition of new ones (Callagadra - normal fight, Crate and Clones of Bourbon).
All right then, time to rest and make another Warlord until Crate creates something new .

I was wondering how much the ADcth healed on AAR is it ~ 2.4k per second? I was considering the amulet for arcane whisper’s but I don’t think it will sustain enough - have you tested that item? My guess was somewhere in the region of 1k per second but I’m not great with game mechanics of how it would all calculate.

Edit: Can get up to 22% quite easily and that start’s getting close, before Ghoul proc - I don’t know if my maths is way off though! By my guess it adds about 3k weapon damage to AAR and life steals for about 2k/s; Warlock, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
Solaels decimation adds tonnes of OA, eldritch patch gives bit more flat dmg/%chaos, or serenity seems more defensive with freeze res - I’d love to hear your thoughts

Lifesteal scales with weapon damage (%WD), up to 100%. If you add a portion of %WD to a skill - like 16% through Conduit - your lifeleech will be scaled to 16%. You have 11%, AAR will heal 11*0.16 = 1.76%, this is without Life Leech Resistance - which can be pretty high, like 93% for Celestials. So numbers are too small. And Essence amulet just adds 10% lifeleech to AAR, this is bigger than 1.76% .
Solael’s Witchfire ability gives flat Chaos Damage, it is also scales with %WD. For 16% you have it is not worth investing - Bloody Pox is better for defense and procing stuff (unless you do not want to press another button ). Also I do not like using movement runes to proc devotions, but this is a personal taste (one exception - 2H Melee Aether Templar, but there are no good options left).
Second one. I have good enough damage and sometimes require defense, on Warlocks especially. So I prefer Serenity here. Use Eldritch Pact, Solael’s Decimation or Agrivix’s Malice instead of it for damage .
Thanks for this breakdown - I hadn’t even thought of life leach res (didn’t really know of it despite seeing the stat!) I think my calculations weren’t a mile off then but I may of misunderstand how it’s applied.
This may be outdated but I looked at your screenshot for AAR DPS and it say’s ~33.5k is that 10% ADCtH only reduced by life leach resist, or is it further reduced by chaos , vit and life leach resist?
I think this is were my assumptions have gone wrong I multiplied 16% of my WD and then multiplied it by 3 for the (each tick of AAR) but is the weapon damage already multiplied by attacks per second? It gives wildly different numbers…I also thought this gave a good buff to raw dps. I got up to 27% life steal with soleal sect leggurds which handily come with freeze res - it’s all irrelevant though if the weapon damage calc. is scuffed:
My initial assumption was: WD (~20K) * 0.16 (whispers) * Life steal (0.27) * 3.03 (aar) = up to 2.6k life leach
but…if the WD is already per second (which I now think it might be) it’s like 800/s which is trash!
Ye I went away from bloody pox so as not to interrupt channel but as you point out you lose a good proccer - as I had avoided it I didn’t really see where else to put points knowing the limitations of 16% weapon damage.
I’m in the process of levelling and just wanted to say thanks for sharing a fun build! PS sorry for the terrible formatting
10% ADCtH is reduced by enemy’s Chaos, Vitality Res - less damage, less lifeleech - and, of course, Life Leech Res. So 16% WD ADCtH too. But you need 160% ADCtH to get Essence of the Grim Dawn amulet numbers with Conduit . Also, DPS numbers for AAR in character sheet does not count enemy’s defense, as tooltip says. It can be bigger or higher against different mobs.
Edit. Sorry for wrong calculations . You need 62.5% ADCtH - 62.5*0.16 = 10%. Still a big number, better take Essence amulet.
