Cadence is superior to ToC as long as you have a weapon with of Abyss suffix. It was already superior before but after Zolhan nerf the gap was widened.
Thanks. Was testing past evening and came to a similar conclusion. Lots of SR farming got me a void touched servitors of the abyss and void touched naren kurs of the abyss
Hey everyone, I came back to Grim Dawn after years with the new DLC and decided to remake the build I did the original playthrough with. I was hoping some of you may help me optimize it more and show me the mistakes I’m making. Here’s the grim tools link
I am worried about some resists of the build:
primary and secondary ones
- bleeding res +1% overcap only
- piercing res +6% overcap only
- chaos res +12% overcap only
- aether res +13% overcap only
- poison res +27% overcap only
tertiary ones
- trap res 0%
If you plan doing any “alternative” setup, I would take into consideration these items:
- Naren Kur’s Blade (green, proper affixes needed)
- Mythical Horns of Eternal Nightmare (legendary, crafted only)
- Sigil of the World Devourer (legendary, can be crafted, or dropped specifically)
- Mythical Demonbone Legplates (legendary, random drop)
- Mythical Bloodmist Boots (legendary, random drop)
If going for Cadence, I’d drop rahzin set and take custom items instead (severed faith chest, avatar of chaos ammy). Leave wps as 1-pointers or w/e.
And do more cunning dump instead of spirit.
Bleed is w/e, chaos should be higher indeed. Trap res can be fixed a bit with Oleron’s chains.
Thanks guys, I felt that the defenses weren’t quite there but didn’t know what things exactly needed to be fixed. Was it health pool total or some resists, but now I know.
Also, from my own testing I was getting the feeling that splitting myself between zolhan’s technique and cadence is weakening both, so I’m gonna drop the Rah’zin part and go full into cadence.
Another thing about the Rah’zin ammy is how does the -10 enemy chaos res compare to avatar of chaos flat damage and cadence modifier. What kinds of -enemy res stack and is there some kind of cap of how much you can get of it.
@Smoot From my perspective, which may differ from @afanasenkov26 , I don’t think Rah’Zin set is that bad… Unless you find adequate replacements… I am going to dig deep into items to see, what I can find.
Ascended Bonuses - try to build your character so they are viable / sturdy enough without those bonuses. Because having ingredients for those bonuses is not that easy and remember the chance to get your desired bonus is not that high… And re-rolling them is pain in the rear end…
Resist redux - you always want (and stack) the -X% resist… in this case -X% chaos resist. You also want -X resistances over Y seconds, and you want only one value of this, highest as possible.
Do remember that chaos damage is one of the least (if not the least) resisted damage types. (On the other hand vitality damage is very resisted).
The health pool (almost 20K in GrimTools) looks fine to me.
Also, remember that converting Physical damage into Chaos damage will leave the Internal Trauma Damage untouched, because Chaos damage doesn’t have any DoT part!
I will try to do the build with some optimizations and if it gets better, I will post the link here!
Alright!
I tried a bit different setup, and I got into very same play results. The builds are a bit different, but the playstyle and survivability is almost the same. Strong, but a bit squishy, I would say.
My take (GT link): Witchblade, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.7) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
Apart from what is aforementioned above, I would recommend you using “Seal of the Void” instead of “Riftstone”. Riftstone is great for levelling, but when the level 75 is met, switch into Seal of the Void, it gives better chaos damage, and it gives WPS (16%) and 4% attack speed! x2 = 32% WPS and 8% attack speed! Even some non-chaos builds take Seal of the Void because of the WPS and attack speed bonus!
I tested both builds on: Ultimate Krieg, Ultimate Theodin Marcell and Ultimate Korvaak. I am sure you have your “methodology” how to test the builds, so you can grab your one and the one of mine and compared those two.
Aura-wise both builds have the same amount of Auras. But those two “Void Weapons”, I switched for Entropic Presence from Amulet Mythical Avatar of Chaos, and the second aura is Desolate Ash from Armor Mythical Cuirass of Desolate Ash.
Thanks man, I was messing with the planer and came up with this setup
Now you have three different approaches to the build. Try to come with the best of those three.
And don’t forget about the resistances to have 80% base +30% overcap!
25% WPS you have the WPS from the Relic, which is a DW enabler, and 16% (x2) = 32% you have from the Seal of the Void component, so you have to cover 43% with Markovian and Zolhan, which is not that hard!
And as I mentioned earlier - try to make the build “ready” (sturdy, viable, comfortable to play) without the Ascended Bonuses, which you can use to give the build “extra spice” (more Offensive Ability, more Defensive Ability, more ADCTH (Attack Damage Converted to Health), or more Health), but nothing crucial, like solving resists…
