[1.1.9.3] SSF Dreeg's Evil Eye Sentinel - leveling and beginner build

Can’t believe, I missed this build initially!

Looking at the new column in the beginner’s compendium - sort by author and there’s one by TqFan and I didn’t remember seeing it.

It’s very stylish guide obviously, with huge amounts of information and after long journey of buffs acid DEE Sentinel is fine build.

Also that book of yours in the screenshot s have really evil eyes. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hmmm… I really enjoyed leveling the OP build (that’s why I even finished it) but I don’t think it’s as powerful as lightning builds.
Here’s @RektbyProtoss killing Lokarr in 24s with a beginner Ranged PS Druid whereas it took me 1min 6s to do it with beginner DEE.
Druid, Level 100 (GD 1.1.9.1) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Hey there, tqFan. I met an opinion that DEE is probably the weakest spell in GD. But here in your guide i Can see very impressive results, so what have been change? Latest buffs of DEE make it much stronger?

Basically

I listed buffs from 1.1.9.2 in the guide. They are significant:

1.1.9.2 buffs to DEE
  • main nod’s damage increase:

    • Acid from 252 to 300 (at 22)
    • Poison from 690 to 765 (at 22)
  • fixing Blood Burst not working reliably on main target (?)

  • making DEE proc devotions on multiple targets not only the main one

  • redistribution (and small decrease) of Blood Burst’s energy cost to Terrifying Gaze and Vile Eruption

  • buffs to leveling items:

    • Leafmane Horn off-hand new mods to DEE:

      • full Vit → Acid conversion (not working on Vile Eruption)
      • Poison damage
    • Wendigo Barb:

      • Vit → Acid conversion

and there were buffs before that. Still not the top, especially if you build more defensively like me, but good enough and I liked leveling with it even before the 1.1.9.2 buffs.

is non-ssf build updated? not sure why there is a change in off hand

The Weapon Damage off-hand is still better for the endgame build, conversion modifier added to the off-hand from the beginner build is not needed and are at 100% anyway with Rings of Shuroth.

thank you so much! gatta try out this build, more GREEN plz

Unfortunately Sigil is not green in those builds so if anyone’s interested I can send a file that changes its default color to :faction_dreeg:.

Oh, i found out why i missed it, it was hidden in maaany layers of spoilers :sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

Thanks for this, I have been looking for a DEE build for some time, but all of them were end game ones, with no leveling info. Is this viable for HC as well? If not, what should I change to make it viable?

Hmmm… I’m not a hardcore player. Most game was pretty easy except the 2nd part of FG since I went there with a not finished setup so I think one should definitely complete a character beforehand on HC.

I’d max Ascension sooner, maybe even Clarity of Purpose if lacking CC resists. Obviously Possession too.

Devotion I’d like to see Scales of Ulcama as we have Vit → Acid conversion there instead of Manticore but the build would lose damage and might not work properly.

At the end of the day I cannot recommend it as I’m not a HC player. I specifically did all the journey, farming, crafting, testing etc to be 100% sure it’s doable but on SC and that’s what I can recommend. I would only recommend it to experienced HC players that can adjust the build on their own properly. If you are a new player that happens to play HC then I’d follow a HC guide.

Also there’s a lot of randomness in it

  • Reduced Target’s Damage from devotion is random
  • Ascension absorption is not permanent
  • Fumble / Impaired Aim from the Blight relic is random

and this randomness is not very well suited for HC I think. For some enemies it’s super tanky, I can basically facetank Mogdrogen but others, such as Lokarr, I need to kite hard because his spells destroy me.

Thank you for the insight. I will continue this, and tweak it myself. It will be a journey for me too

Resetting Marris Kas for the first time and I needed to use your method of waiting 10 - 15s.
15+ works for me. While for Vinelton as I said I didn’t have to.

Hello I just started playing GD and I’ve been following your guide (for the most part, still lvl 34), I’m currently trying to get GDAutocast to work with this build, would you mind sharing your settings/hotkeys? Thanks!

I’ve sent you a private message.

If anyone interested, the build and guide works great in 1.1.9.6.
I’m leveling this toon atm and it’s a blast, DEE is extremely strong early on. I remember it was very meh back in the days but that’s in the past.
Just want to point out the Corruption is a nice first relic here (if anyone doesn’t want to cheat the Rovers… I mean, they’re screwed anyway, why make it worse), that tiny bit of RR is nice to have, and the corrupion itself behaves like bloody pox (i.e. contagious and spreads even by corpses); besides all that it’s a required part of the Blight craft, so…
Thanks @tqFan , very much appreciated.

Is this viable in 1.2?

I can’t think of a reason why it wouldn’t be
Some gear changes I’d make

  • not Sandstorm prefix on off-hand but some good Acid prefix because Sandstorm was nerfed a lot
(some double Acid Rare affix one [vendor farmed from Vinelton of course])

  • if SSF I’d try to farm totems at around level 58 for Dreeg's Affliction - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database blueprint instead of the relic I have. Farm till you get a bunch of 60 level relic blueprints, there’s a decent chance Dreeg’s Affliction will be amongst them. But if they stop dropping, it’s getting increasingly hard to get another 60 level relic blueprint (I think because of the available relic pool getting smaller) I’d stop the farming and just move on even if not finding it.

Hi, I have a question on Death’s Vigil faction. Why we should betray Kymon’s Chosen to switch to Death’s Vigil?
Thank you
