Here is my spin on an Elementalist right clicker build. I had no intentions of making this build when I set out leveling my Elementalist. Originally I thought I’d try to do some bomb spam with barrelsmith’s set and canister bombs, but this kinda fell into my lap.
I’m not sure if any of this gear is best in slot but it’s what I had stumbled across at the time. It’s a mix of Ultos and Cyclone set as you can see. Admittedly the OA/DA is low without the sealed fate buff from Hand of Mercy/Fist of Vengeance, however that buff is almost permanently on. I could try to respec attributes and pull more out of spirit into physique and see how that feels. I wanted to post a screenshot showing OA/DA with the buff up but as a new poster I can’t link more than one. But it comes in at 3054 and 2886 with Savagery buffs going and the Sealed Fate buff.
Even on bosses many of them have minion summons that will activate this buff, and with all the AoE this build has you don’t have to divert any attention to killing those.
What I love about this build is it does high damage but is also extremely durable with massive hp regen at 1109, a lot of hp and decent armor, and 44% physical resist. Again, as a new poster these numbers are impressive to me, but may be puny for all I know
One area this build really struggles (at least for me) is bosses you can’t face tank well, especially Grava’Thul the Voiddrinker and Grand Priest Zarthuzellan. On my Blademaster I can easily avoid their big animated attacks but with the Elementalist there is are so many lightning effects going on I can’t see anything! Since this build is also really dependent on its buffs from Mogdrogen’s and Temper, Grava’Thul’s debuff attack will about insta gib you every time. My solution: switch over to a ranged build for those. I simply swap out Ultos Stormseeker axe for Raka’Jax.
The swap is seamless since all my Shaman skills work of 2h ranged as well. Then I can kite as needed and spam primal strike on cooldown while keeping savagery buff up. The downside to this is more investment into cunning attribute than I would like, but it’s not like extra OA is a bad thing. And actually if you prefer to play a ranged build entirely you can do that with this setup.
So far I completed an SR run on ultimate going from 70-75 timed with no issues. I’m very confident it can farm SR 75-76 on ultimate and fairly confident it can do SR 80 but I’ll have to try it out. For now I was too excited to post it.
Down to the details- Skill choices
It may seem weird to use Savagery as the main attack and not max it out, but most of this builds damage I believe comes from procs and Primal Strike, thus I invested minimally in Savagery. I put Tenacity of the Boar and Storm Touched closer to their soft caps for the OA and attack speed they provide.
I’m not 100% certain the points I put in the Brute Force path are ideal, but I like the hp buff off Brute Force and the lifesteal AoE on Feral Hunger is great. I soft capped Raging Tempest, as more with the less resistance reduction per point isn’t worth it when I have Thermite mines on the Demolitionist tree instead. Wind Devil is all the way up at +11 point modifiers from gear so 1 point in there is all I need.
Back to the Demolitionist tree:
Everything is pretty normal here, just of matter of taste of where to divvy up the points. I would have liked more DA shred in flashbang but just don’t have the points to do it. I also took a couple points off Thermite Mine to get more into Temper since my DA seemed low without it.
Quick gear notes:
I don’t have the full Ultos set which is why is a mix of Cyclone in there. I do have the amulet but Thread of Mortality with the +1 to Shaman and Demo felt a lot stronger without completing Ultos set.
The ring choice is debatable but I don’t have many good lightning rings in my possession, and these provide a lot of juicy non damage stats like HP, DA, resists. How do people feel about that ring set in general? Is it used often?
The rest of my gear I think is pretty basic/standard shaman choices. Arcane Harmony Leggings with the disrupt protection are pretty essential for an attacker build that needs to sustain life steal.
Devotion quick notes:
I found this setup off reddit I think, it was a way to get crown and ultos into the same build. My question is, I am overlapping a lot of elemental resist reduction with viper and ultos proc overlapping, and crown and Open Hand of Mercy set bonus overlapping. But I am unsure also of what applies what. Is the ring set applied on all attacks so an AoE proc like ultos would apply that debuff to everything? Or is it just on weapon damage ones or something else? What about my pet cyclones? In totality though this build has a lot of resist reduction. Totals off the top of my head:
- -35% lightning from arcane bomb
- -28% elemental from thermite mine
- -30% elemental from cyclones
- 20% reduction from ultos or viper
- 32 flat reduction from elemental storm
Anyway, the cyclones throwing up elemental storm bubbles everywhere is just outstanding. I put arcane bomb onto Primal Strike because it scales with the cooldown and is at 85% chance to proc, while ultos is every crit so works better on Savagery, in my opinion.
There are two devotion points hanging out that can be moved around. I finished off ultos’ left side with 350 hp and 15% chaos resist, and did one point into Korvaak, 200 hp, 30% damage. Those seemed like excellent stat boost for single points, though if you think of something better please comment.
That about covers it I think. As far as playstyle it’s a pretty basic facetank build. Run in, hit Primal Strike right away to hopefully get an Arcane Bomb up, drop Wendigo Totem, fire off a Flashbang and keep hitting with Savagery. Spam Primal Strike, keep the cyclones up. If you know what hits the fan, rush out, go back in when ready. Don’t stand in the fire! Another cool thing you can do is rush out and spam some fireballs from the seal of destruction ability from a safe range while you wait for debuffs to drop or cooldowns to come back.
I’d love feedback or any suggestions. Thanks!
