[1.1.9.8] The Illusionist - Theorycrafter fun with Dodge/Deflect - SR 76, Cr 170

GrimTools: Infiltrator, Level 100 (GD 1.1.9.8) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

The 68% / 90% dodge/deflect in this screenshot is without proc buffs. With proc buffs it becomes 98% / 100%

I went revisiting an old idea - “How much can I stack Dodge and Deflect”? About this much. It is possible to get another 2% to either if I use a sword, but this seemed enough for a test run. So I did a test run!

As I understand it, this build has a DA of ~3600,with an OA shred of about 274. With this, it should have a 40% chance to dodge or deflect almost all attacks, and severely reduces chances of being critically hit. Then, the build has a dodge chance of 68%, and a deflect chance of 90%. On top of this, the build provides 28% fumble chance and 20% impaired aim chance to enemies.

I think this is a multiplicative equation, so the chances of melee hits landing is something like ~13.8%, and the chances of projectile hits landing is something like 4.8%. Or, an 86.2% chance for enemies to miss in melee, and a 95.2% to ignore projectiles.

This build has quite low damage, but it’s tankiness is unquestionable which also features having a decent HP pool, damage reduction to enemies and Inquisitor Seals. I was concerned about healing frequency with very low attack damage converted to health, but between having Pneumatic Burst, Word of Renewal and Health Potions, it seems to do ok on that front. Blade Barrier also works nicely when you need a breather, or to let your heals come off cool down. If I was a less lazy theorycrafter, I might have also changed some of the devotions to include Time Dilation, which would also keep all of the survival skills more available.

To witness the tankiness in action, check out 6:15 in this video where it facetanks Korvaak Phase 2, Iron Maiden, Fabius, and two Reapers of the Lost. The fight is slow, but the tankiness is amazing.

Or, check out the bit at 1:18 where I can stand still and entirely ignore the Mad Queen’s shotgun spikes…

Enjoy~

Hello, @WyreZ! May I ask a question? Damage reduction from Aura of Censure and Horn of Gandarr do not stack, what is the point of keeping them together?

Hi! You’re right. I use Aura for the Elemental RR, and Horn for the damage reduction, seeings it gives 25% reduction, whereas Aura of Censure only gives 17% at that rank
