[1.2.0.5] Detail boxes not displaying until input

Hey all. I am having some issues with tool tips/detail boxes not showing up. Some background info: I am playing on the PC - Steam version, build 1.2.0.5. I play with a Dualshock 4 controller, so I launch the game from Steam Big Picture mode and use Steam controller input with the developer control layout. In the game, I have the Use Non-Steam controller option checked. Most things work well enough with the controller, but there are a few instances where functionality is breaking:

  1. When viewing my inventory, if I hover over an item with the cursor, I do not get the tool tip/item detail box that normally pops up. I have to pick up the item (interact button) and then place it back in my inventory, then the item detail tool tip box will pop up. I have to do this for each individual item. This is more of a hassle than anything, but would be nice to not have to do this for each item.

  2. Similar for shops, I cannot see the item details for any shop item. I assume that if I purchase an item that the item detail box will then pop up, but I haven’t been able to verify this. This one is a big deal since it pretty much eliminates being able to use vendors all together, there is just no way I can buy every item to see what they are (if that even ends up working).

  3. When spending mastery points upon leveling up, I cannot see the skill detail box when hovering over the skills. I have to click the interact button (thereby spending a skill point) and then the skill detail box will pop up. I can undo points, but it makes building the character more tedious since I don’t have all the skills memorized.

  4. On the devotion screen, I cannot see the devotion detail tool tip when hovering over the points. I have to spend a point and then the devotion detail box pops up. This makes choosing devotions incredibly frustrating.

After doing some testing, I believe I have found the issue. For my setup, I primarily use a controller exclusively, however I have a wireless keyboard with a built-in trackpad whenever I need to use a mouse or keyboard. If I start the game with only the controller connected (no mouse connected), it seems to break the mouse functionality. I can turn on my keyboard in-game and move the cursor around, but the mouse buttons don’t do anything. It doesn’t seem to be the mouse offset issue that other people have either. However, if I connect the keyboard/mouse along with the controller and then start the game, the mouse functionality is restored. The mouse clicks work just fine. Additionally, the detail boxes/tool tips pop up normally. Each of the four situations listed in the first post above now work. Also, I can then disconnect the keyboard/mouse and my controller cursor will continue working correctly. I can see the tool tips with only the controller enabled.

It seems that starting the game without a mouse connected breaks the cursor until the game is restarted. This should be simple to reproduce/verify if anyone on the dev team comes across this. Hopefully this can be patched/modded one day.
