If you want more consistent Rumor procs, you bind it to Righteous Fervor.
And then you can put Guardian’s Gaze on Vire’s Might or even Guardians of Empyrion (the orbs will still heal you, but the Guardians attack too infrequently and move too slowly to be consistent).
In my opinion: For most content, especially campaign farming and low SR, you don’t need 100% uptime on Rumor, and the safety from multiple Orbs floating around you is just very comfy.
But if you want better SR times or fight Ravager, put Rumor on RF.
Tainted Eruption doesn’t do much for this build, I tried it and leveled it all the way and it never felt impactful.
This build doesn’t do “poison” damage very well, just “acid”.
For Tainted Eruption, you probably want a build with more than 2 Guardians so you can stack the effect.
But try it out if you are curious, just level the skill while leveling up and if it doesn’t perform, it’s just one point to respec.
I went on a quest, to make a version that can bring down Celestials easier.
Long story short:
Friendship with Venomblade Set ended.
Deathguard Set new best friend.
Ravager of Minds & Calla:
Calla is still very sketchy, possibly some additional tuning needed. Or better piloting.
Build does respectable 6:30 rounds in SR as well, which is about as fast as I could run it with the Venomblade version.
The changes to the endgame build are pretty extensive and tailored for Celestial fights, so I’ll have to spend some more time, to see if how much I want to adapt the leveling/budget version.
Hey there, ty for renewing acid derv, love him a lot.
You said this guide is update to SD’s virulent, so i have a “?”. SD uses Wendigo Jawbone as ultimate weapon for his guide. You suggest to use gannar’s. Curious if gannar’s showing best results in terms of speed and QoL while farming?
Dragon’s guide was made 5 years ago, when farming for green MIs was still very frustrating, and the bonuses for Gannar’s weapon were also lower back then.
So he recommends the crafted blue rings and the blue weapon from the shop instead.
But farming MIs was buffed, especially from bosses, and the items were also improved.
So now you can run to Viloth and Gannar 2-3 times and you will have better rings and weapons with very little effort.
Hello, I have a little problem with the guide and I wanted to ask for help First, this was the first guide I followed and it went really, really well, I got easy through the game.
But now, I am in sr 45 and dying constantly to things like aetherfire on the ground, enemies with sunder and other stuff. Is this normal? In the guide it states “before completing sr” so I shouldn’t have any trouble right?
The only things that differ really are my amulet and relic, but it said in the guide that I can substitute them like this and I also have higher resistances.
What I noticed is the difference in DA and physique…why is my physique lower? Is this the reason I’m dying so fast to sunder, mines, aetherfire on the ground etc.? Or is it normal to have difficulties in ultimate sr with this build? I’m relly confused…
SR will eventually get difficult, if you don’t have a somewhat optimized build.
Let’s see if we can make some improvements, to get you through that:
Your HP are low, I would not recommend anything lower than 17-18k. You can fix that by crafting better boots:
Look for prefixes that have %-based HP, like “Cleric’s”, “Consecrated”, “Survivalist’s”, or even “Vigorous”, and the flat HP boost Suffix “of Vitality”.
Another slot which can give you a good HP boost are the components on your rings, which are currently missing. Corpse Dust is cheap and quite solid for that.
Replace the Antivenom Salve in the hat with a Runestone (BP sold by Rovers). Now your should have your Elemental res fixed and some extra Aether res and dmg vs aetherials.
Resistances have some holes, because you are missing resistance augments on most of your armor pieces.
Try to fix your pierce and acid res with Kingsguard Powder from the Black Legion and overcap your chaos res a bit more with Coven Black Ash. Remaining pierce res can be adressed with the augment from Bysmiel.
Now you should no longer need the Impervious prefix on the boots and can use anything you want.
Farming up better rings: Some of the pieces here are not fitted with great affixes.
Hit Viloth the Corruptor a few more times, until you get a rare acid prefix like “Maniacal”, “Blighted” or a defensive prefix like Stalwart, Consecrated, Harmonious etc.
And then a suffix like “of Readiness”, “of Protection”, “of Attack” or “of Alacrity”.
Farm 2 new weapons, both should ideally have attack speed, best realistic combination of affixes is “Corrosive // of the Venomclaw”.
If you want to try, you can also farm up a Rift Scourge Slicer from the “Guardian of Dreeg” area, or the Temple of the Three (final part of the Hidden Path). The Slicer will give you more attack speed and might feel better overall, see for yourself.
(Keep in mind that you will have extra skill points in Lethal Assault to redistribute, if you get Venomclaw affixes)
The lastly you could improve your body armor and belt, yours only have magic affixes and you can get the chaos res on several rare affixes, or fix it with armor augments. Ideal Suffix on the armor would be “of Vitality” for more HP, with any rare prefix that’s useful.
Your Wayward Soul devotion proc is not bound to anything. Not sure if that is an import error with GT, but better check if that is on sth like Path of the Three of Presence of Virtue.
Your amulet lacks an augment, too. I’d throw on Arcanum Dust from the Malmouth resistance for the extra defensive ability.
Drink a potion to reset your stat points, put Spirit at the bare minimum for your chest armor, everything else into physique, that will get you some more DA and HP.
So with some (fictional) item changes (one ring, better affixes on the armor and boots, better weapons) and after applying all augments and components, your build might look sth like this:
Try to aim for ~18k HP, 3000+ OA, 2700+ DA and 30 overcaps on the resistances. If you don’t hit every benchmark, that’s usually still workable, but missing 300 DA and 5000 HP will have the result you showed in your video.
(Tbh, the boss rooms in SR 45-55 are harder imo, because they are so tiny. The bosses are easier, but pulling two at the same time will make it more difficult. Oh, and don’t charge into Benn’Jahr’s crystals, when they explode all at once, each one will deal damage, so you’ll easily take 5x 3000 or 4000 dmg.)
Sorry for the long reply
Hope this helps to get the build back on the road.
Thank you so much, I don’t mind a long answer, it’s better if it’s detailed
To address the points, I’m embarassed I forgot about the augments…when I farmed the last time, I still needed the rep, got it and forgot WHY I wanted the rep…
In the mean time before this answer, I got to reddit and respecced my devotions (turtle and ghoul) according to some users, crafted new boots and belt, gave my rings corpse dusts and it now feels more dfensive, but also slower I will respecc my devotions to your guide again and farm the rest of the gear, since I now have the augments, I just didn’t equip them for the most part…
My wayward Soul was indeed not bound (gosh darn…)
I already drank one potion and respecced but it didn’t change, I’d put the minimum in spirit and I also controlled it with your lvl 100 GT link, we dropped the points the same way but somehow, I have lower physique, I don’t get this really
the stats are not fully correct (I have 2% more resistance in Pierce for example, I don’t know why it doesn’t copy it correctly), but nonetheless, this is 99% what it looks like right now
hello there, following your build as a 1st timer on a dual wield build and enjoying a lot the dynamic and speed of attack.
question please, if you can, in the beggining i notice that our main damage source is cold and piercing. why the devotion Eye of the Guardian early that enhances poison? i see that we only start using poison damage at around almost 50 or something.
The build swaps to acid damage around level ~40-50 (when you get to Forgotten Gods). Then you already have the Guardian’s Gaze proc leveled up, as well as Murmur.
Minimal respec required.
Feel free to experiment with devotions as much as you want, that’s part of the fun of Grim Dawn.
Thanks for the input, understood now. so you don’t have a specific devotion order as i see, but it should be self explanatory on your GT links of the character.
Another thing, pre-poison/acid phase i assume i would focus more on cold and piercing, and about the spectral weapons, would you say its best to use swords which apparenlty boost Shadow Strike instead of axes which boost Whirling Death? Or… 1 of each maybe?
Thanks and sorry for all these questions, i’m really enjoying the hack and slashing of mobs and want to try to be the most effective possible on my choices if it makes sense.
