[1.2.1.2] [HC] Immor(t)al Porcupine (Counter Strike + Vindictive Flame Retaliation Commando)

So, not at peak power obviously, but Ultimate Zarthuzellan took 1:52, so just under two minutes with this version of the build: Commando, Level 71 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator (VF is overcapped, I know ^^" )

Facetanked all the way, Blast Shield didn’t even trigger. Funnily enough, the Cursed Trials took 1:22, and would’ve been quicker if the stupid Skeletal Priest had not healed one of the hero mobs. So three waves of heroes < 1 caster boss with this build. Alkamos took 1:04, didn’t even hit a single sunder. As a reward he dropped Touch of Dread and the Vanquisher piece lol.

I am confident the build and its kill-times will only improve from here.

Testing and levelling continues

Any new updates on the build?

Yeah, added the level 75 snapshot. Though I am finishing my thesis at the moment, so I don’t have a lot of time for gaming

I will also try the immoral porcupine

Oh, hey, I was running a similar build a few months back. Still on random found gear, though I suspect these shoulders and maybe gloves are best in slot:

Commando, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Unfortunately, I have to put this character on the back burner until I find the Mythical Mask of Infernal Truth blueprint. Without more RATA cooldowns, there are some bosses that I literally can’t kill (Van Aldritch, Lokarr, and regenerators above SR 30ish). Of course, they can’t kill me either, so I guess it comes out in the wash.

I’m curious to see if the full Counter Strike cooldown plan works out for you… if you can actually get it to go off 5 times a second, it might just do enough.

Good items, for sure. The problem is hardcapping Ulzuin’s wrath is not easy, and since is is one of our 2 main skill, I figured to hardcap it. I am not sure whether that is worth it over heavy retal gear, and it also depends on the enemy type I thnk. But good find!

Hi there, been following the build and having a ton of fun, level 60 now ready to start Elite. I have a bad wrist and was looking for a “as few buttons as possible” build and stumbled upon this thread. Worth every minute.

By any chance, do you plan on updating the build or with the “theoretical endgame” plan is enough for, maybe, decently high floors of Shattered Realms to farm for my future builds? I know I won’t be killing ultra-endgame bosses so my expectations are realistic.

Welcome! The build is surely something else. If you want a build that is even easier on the wrists, have a look at the Passivist builds we came up with; they do not use buttons at all (as a challenge, the builds are by no means top contenders).

I haven’t been playing the game as much lately, so I doubt I will update this soon. As for the theoretical endgame setup, I scrounged the database for stuff that improves Counter Strike and Vindictive Flame, with the goal of reducing the cooldown of both as much as possible. The thing runs on 3.3k hp regen and 3.4k DA, with 66% block chance for 7.4k with over 100% reduced block cooldown. This is affixless and without components and augments, so I doubt it will die against anything really.

That being said, I have no idea on how this performs since I never got to this point. What I do know is that this build thrives against hordes of trash, but takes considerably longer to kill singular enemies, especially if they do not attack in melee and have slow attacks. From a purely theoretical standpoint, I think this build could survive SR and Crucible, but I have no idea how fast you will be killing the bosses.
