This is my first try at making a build. So let me know what you think.
Why this build? I’m lazy, more so after a long day at lab and just want to have a good relaxing time. After searching, even though there are some builds that are quite lazy (mostly retaliation, pets, etc.), they require some sort of piano-ing and multiple active skills.
I don’t want that. I also found there are aura builds, but most of them are quite old, so here it is.
Backbone theory: Relax
Let aura do the killing, you walk around, rest, and pick up stuff.
After some combination of the aura skills out there, Aura of censure (AoC) and Night’s Chill (NC) works the best for me, dealing fire and cold damage. Equipment and devotion are all working around this.
The main difference of the two versions is how lazy are you whether to have Word of Pain as another skill. Your choice. You can also take all points of the Word of Pain series and put into blade spirit for extra damage, although they don’t really benefit from anything.
I-still-want-to-push-one-more-button version
I-want-to-scratch-my-dog-cause-I’m-braindead version
Here’s the proof that dps is zero
Skills
- AoC and NC will do the main damage, most of the other skills are passive boost, protection, or healing. Word of pain is also a big aoe, an extra boost if you want to kill faster when farming.
- Inquisitor’s Seal for +61% health regen and some atk boost
- Penumatic Burst heals 40% hp and give all-around boost.
- Word of Renewal is the second heal, which I actually rarely use it as I don’t need to.
Equipment
- Mageslayer set is the core, mainly boosting Veil of Shadow and NC, and gives nice fire and elemental RR.
- Hyrian Shield - nice boost to AoC with flat element damage (You can substitute this with Wradlith Bulwark)
- Malakor’s Infusion - AoC, extra elemental RR, and periodic healing on enemy death
- Ring - Change from Lorekeepr to Reign of ice and fire for damage and small heal on attack proc.
- Medal - AoC, also CC
Fateweaver chest - passive aura for all-around resistance boost.- Vestment of Mourning chest - After a closer look, the passive aura from Fateweaver is actually pretty wasted. Vestment of Mourning gives a good lightning to cold damage conversion, boosting the NC levels, so better aura damage.
- Magegurad leg - skill boost and knockdown CC
- Fiendflesh shoes - It’s for pet build, but the 12000 damage absorption is too sweet to pass, pretty much a second life.
- Ignarffar relic - extra elemental RR on proc on attack
Devotion
Pretty straight forward. I didn’t get viper because the RR is too little. Hyrian is great for all-around boost on damage, shield block, armor, hp, and damage that proc on hit. Behemoth is for extra hp and heal, and Blind sage and Mirage are for the big elemental damage boost. Word of pain can still benefit from lightning damage, but other than that lightning damage is sadly wasted.
If you decide to go with the first version that has word of pain, you can get Elemental seeker on Blind Sage for extra damage.
Factions
Cult of Dreeg for the augments on weapon and shield, and for DA.
Leveling
Leveling only with aura is actually much slower than if you have an active skill, like shadow strike or word of pain. Refer to 9th and 10th level of this post for more details.
Comments
A total of -103% -32 cold and -84% -32 fire RR for your aura killing from the following:
-43% elemental from Aura of Censure
-16% elemental and -15% fire from Veil of Shadow
-34% cold from Night’s Chill
-10% elemental from relic
32 elemental from Crown

In my first video, notice that I didn’t use ANY skill on the skill bar, just walking around with LMB and drop down Inquisitor’s seal with RMB, lazy does it. Notice that I don’t even have blade barrier on the skill bar? So grab a coffee, walk around, and stare into the boss’s eyes and watch him die while doing nothing
Obviously, this is NOT for super boss. You can, but will be slow and tricky. I did tried with Ravager. I can tank about 3 or 4 hits inside the inquisitor’s seal, and damaging is very slow (cause no single-target active skill, all aoe) while running around a lot. In Crucible I did get to 150+ the other day. I will upload that some other time. I have not run SC that much, so will need to try on that.
As a returning player of GD, it’s quite fun make/improving a build for myself. If you see something unclear or can be improved, feel free to ask and suggest. Thanks for reading!
