[1.2.1.2] Lazy Farmer - Strolling and Killing with ZERO dps

This is my first try at making a build. So let me know what you think.

Why this build? I’m lazy, more so after a long day at lab and just want to have a good relaxing time. After searching, even though there are some builds that are quite lazy (mostly retaliation, pets, etc.), they require some sort of piano-ing and multiple active skills.

I don’t want that. I also found there are aura builds, but most of them are quite old, so here it is.

Backbone theory: Relax
Let aura do the killing, you walk around, rest, and pick up stuff.
After some combination of the aura skills out there, Aura of censure (AoC) and Night’s Chill (NC) works the best for me, dealing fire and cold damage. Equipment and devotion are all working around this.

The main difference of the two versions is how lazy are you whether to have Word of Pain as another skill. Your choice. You can also take all points of the Word of Pain series and put into blade spirit for extra damage, although they don’t really benefit from anything.

I-still-want-to-push-one-more-button version

I-want-to-scratch-my-dog-cause-I’m-braindead version

Here’s the proof that dps is zero

Skills

  • AoC and NC will do the main damage, most of the other skills are passive boost, protection, or healing. Word of pain is also a big aoe, an extra boost if you want to kill faster when farming.
  • Inquisitor’s Seal for +61% health regen and some atk boost
  • Penumatic Burst heals 40% hp and give all-around boost.
  • Word of Renewal is the second heal, which I actually rarely use it as I don’t need to.

Equipment

  • Mageslayer set is the core, mainly boosting Veil of Shadow and NC, and gives nice fire and elemental RR.
  • Hyrian Shield - nice boost to AoC with flat element damage (You can substitute this with Wradlith Bulwark)
  • Malakor’s Infusion - AoC, extra elemental RR, and periodic healing on enemy death
  • Ring - Change from Lorekeepr to Reign of ice and fire for damage and small heal on attack proc.
  • Medal - AoC, also CC
  • Fateweaver chest - passive aura for all-around resistance boost.
  • Vestment of Mourning chest - After a closer look, the passive aura from Fateweaver is actually pretty wasted. Vestment of Mourning gives a good lightning to cold damage conversion, boosting the NC levels, so better aura damage.
  • Magegurad leg - skill boost and knockdown CC
  • Fiendflesh shoes - It’s for pet build, but the 12000 damage absorption is too sweet to pass, pretty much a second life.
  • Ignarffar relic - extra elemental RR on proc on attack

Devotion
Pretty straight forward. I didn’t get viper because the RR is too little. Hyrian is great for all-around boost on damage, shield block, armor, hp, and damage that proc on hit. Behemoth is for extra hp and heal, and Blind sage and Mirage are for the big elemental damage boost. Word of pain can still benefit from lightning damage, but other than that lightning damage is sadly wasted.

If you decide to go with the first version that has word of pain, you can get Elemental seeker on Blind Sage for extra damage.

Factions
Cult of Dreeg for the augments on weapon and shield, and for DA.

Leveling
Leveling only with aura is actually much slower than if you have an active skill, like shadow strike or word of pain. Refer to 9th and 10th level of this post for more details.

Comments
A total of -103% -32 cold and -84% -32 fire RR for your aura killing from the following:
-43% elemental from Aura of Censure
-16% elemental and -15% fire from Veil of Shadow
-34% cold from Night’s Chill
-10% elemental from relic
32 elemental from Crown

Video of a run on the popular totem farming route: Lazy Aura farmer

Video of running into beast nemesis: Standing around and kill nemesis

In my first video, notice that I didn’t use ANY skill on the skill bar, just walking around with LMB and drop down Inquisitor’s seal with RMB, lazy does it. Notice that I don’t even have blade barrier on the skill bar? So grab a coffee, walk around, and stare into the boss’s eyes and watch him die while doing nothing

Obviously, this is NOT for super boss. You can, but will be slow and tricky. I did tried with Ravager. I can tank about 3 or 4 hits inside the inquisitor’s seal, and damaging is very slow (cause no single-target active skill, all aoe) while running around a lot. In Crucible I did get to 150+ the other day. I will upload that some other time. I have not run SC that much, so will need to try on that.

As a returning player of GD, it’s quite fun make/improving a build for myself. If you see something unclear or can be improved, feel free to ask and suggest. Thanks for reading!

Hey @polmed your auramancer here looks great! There were a couple things I would suggest changing that you could try out to see if it improves your build.

  • You could switch your rings to the Elemental Harmony ring set (Infiltrator, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator) to get the Fire/Cold Elemental Force proc to boost your “aura” damage. The other option would be to use two Mythical Reigns of Fire & Ice rings (Infiltrator, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator) for a different Fire/Cold proc (once from each ring) that will damage and heal you (just a little bit).
  • You may notice I removed all but 1 point from Deadly Aim as your crit chance was pretty low to begin with. I also took a point from here and there to boost your Aura of Censure back up to 22/12 and to max Vigor for more Health as well as Death Sentence for more Elemental Damage from WoP.
  • I also maxed Veil of Shadow for the extra radius and for more -OA reduction against enemies.
  • I removed Spirit down to minimun requirement and did a Cunning dump as well as swapping the ring/amulet Augments to Osyr’s Wisdom to further boost the OA. Much more OA overall, so your procs can benefit from that juicy Crit Damage % you’ve got! :sunglasses:

Hope that helps! Excellent job here overall. :+1:

Really cool trick!

Tiny thing. You can move one point scropi to mogdrogen in your devotion for extra health and oa :stuck_out_tongue:

@RxJunkie

  • The reigns of fire & ice rings seems interesting. Since aura does aoe the attack proc on attack is quite often even at the mere 10%. Those proc does seem pretty nice.
  • For deadly aim, I’m mainly looking at the 20%, about 400 OA boost, not the crit chance. And since aoe procs it all the time, 400 OA makes quite a difference. And you need the extra OA to have high crit rate and crit dmg %, so it gets a bit tricky.
  • Comparing the OA after your adjustment, even though OA increased a lot, the fire/cold/lightning damages and % modified becomes lower. So I guess it’s a compromise or personal preference.

So that’s where it is!! knew I had one extra point but just couldn’t find it!!

Agreed. The numbers will work out about the same. :man_shrugging:

The ring change to either option will help though overall.

Nice build! Aura builds are among my favorite build archetypes.
I once made an Aura Infiltrator that focuses on cold damage, the only thing in common with yours is the mageslayer set. And it’s not quite as lazy since it uses Chillspikes for some additional damage and devo triggering. Last time I checked, SR75 was no problem so I’m confident yours will be around that ballpark as well.

Check this out, we tried and succeeded to make total passivist builds which never use any active skills at all, except evade. Can’t get anymore lazy than that!

Yup, that we did, as lazy as we can get

I didn’t know that passivist challenge is a thing. Although technically speaking, my aura infiltrator can’t really count, as I use pneumatic burst and inquisitor’s seal for buff the damage, but whatever :stuck_out_tongue:

This looks like just the build for me! Awesome.

Might you be persuaded to dive a bit into how you would level this build for beginners? Or is it absolutely not beginner-friendly?

if you insist as levelling as aurafil
veil of shadow items Grim Dawn Item Database
censure items Grim Dawn Item Database
potential seal helmet Grim Dawn Item Database
passive buff/pneumatic burst boosters Grim Dawn Item Database

*filtered to lvl 94 to skip duplicates, items exists in various versions ranging down to level 20-40(doesnt’ mean you’ll obtain them this early)
**iirc Rektbyprotoss did a video on levelling as aura infiltrator?
***this will be a much slower affair than just regular cold or pierce infiltrator levelling

Item suggestions from Gnomish_inquisition are really good. Also the Wradlith Bulwark as I mentioned in my guide is good as well.

For me, I actually level with shadow strike, equip with Spectral Longsword - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database and Wradlith's Bulwark - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database from level 20, a combo focuses on cold damage, with good movement speed and the attack power, or dual wielding swords.

The sword is pretty easy to get, or you can buy from Benevald - Strange Wares, a hidden merchant located in the Blood Grove. The shield is easy to farm as well. Focus on cold damage and adjust the devotion and gears accordingly will probably give you an easier time than going both aura from the beginning.

Until you get to level 85 or 90, start the totem farming route I showed in video and farm for the mageslayer set and other gears.

All right. Thanks for your replies!

Finally have some time and edited a bit.

  • 2 versions of the same build.
  • Equipment adjustment, mainly the chest piece Fateweaver to Vestment of Mourning, and the Lordkeeper to Reign of ice and fire rings. Also the components and augments accordingly.
  • some texting and orders
