When it comes to armor absorb, the objective is to get somewhere between 92% and 100%
I almost always get scale hide in the pants and either living armor or sacred plating in the shoulder. Sometimes I’ll put another one of those in the chest to get it up to 100%
I’ll sometimes use the ancient armor, usually because I’m planning to get Obelisk or I’m playing soldier and have some points in Scars of battle to compensate. Going past 100% absorb is pointless. Scale hide in the pants is almost an auto-include IMO
oh snap, didnt even know about scaled hide, man thanks a bunch!
Well, Nemesis bosses spawn in the campaign and the secret ones are also there, they’re not in a different section of the game. Nemesis bosses only spawn when you have Nemesis status with hostile factions. Some of the secret bosses listed here are only available from secret quests on Ultimate difficulty only.
If you are still looking for options for Archon, I still want to one day try a build that focuses on maxing Guardians, using Barthollem’s Gavel and the Magi Visage for 6 summons (if you can get the skill to 24/16). Not sure how it will perform, but the Guardians carried me in my Dervish challenge.
I’ve got this theorycraft laying around that I’ve been meaning to try. Not 6 guardians, but the ones I have should hit like a truck:
Not sure if dual wielding pandemic is better than using this: Word of Solael - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database
Oppressor will also give you more vit rr, but not much else (if pacifist). ![]()
Would have to try both to compare. The idea was to stack massive DoTs, but maybe a 5th guardian would be equivalent.
The other thing I wanted to try (but might be totally shit) is dual wielding ascendant authority
for a +50% total speed to the guardians ![]()
I see. You also have 8%rr extra with the double pandemic. I thought the book also helps convert 50% acid to vit.
It does, but I’m already trying to do the opposite through the belt and shoulders. That allows me to have more RR through veil of shadow, as well as benefit from merciless repertoire
Hah, I missed that. ![]()
Mythical Tome of Names sacrifices only 5% speed for not having to dual wield, massive %phys damage and extra RR on crit. Might be an option.
Alright, just finished Malmouth, getting ready to start the Korvan Basin (shattered realms?) quest line.
Here is where im at so far with the character. Was wondering, do i go for the Obelisk of Menhier, or find some more health regen somewhere, or some dps thinget in the devotion tree? Suggestions / advice welcome =)
Looks pretty solid.
Right now, I would move some points from Safeguard to guardians to make them more potent.
Your components are a bit dated, since you’re now over level 75, you have access to Ugdenbog leather, Living armor, Sacred plating, silvercore bolt, Seal of ancestry, and bloodied crystal.
You should also be revered (or close) with Devil’s crossing. You’ll be able to get some good augments, starting with Survivor’s ingenuity for your rings and amulet, but also Mogdrogen’s blessing for some more resist basically for free. Eventually, you’ll want Osyr’s wisdom or the equivalent, but for now it’s a good way to boost your dual-damage character. For weapons/shield, what you have right now is decent, but you want to have Solael’s vision later (Once you’re revered with Solael’s cult)
Divine mandate and Stormcaller’s pact give you basically the same bonus, but one boosts Guardians, the other Wind devil. You should think about using Divine mandate for now as you’ll have to fill out the mastery bar on Oathkeeper anyway. That way you can reclaim the last 10 Shaman points and put them there.
Your gun is frankly horrible
Spend a bit of time looking over vendors for anything boosting lightning, fire or elemental damage, right now it’s not doing much for you, and any other affixes would help more. There are a few interesting options in crafting, especially once you hit level 90, you’ll have access to Stormsurge pistol that gives you an extra wind devil.
Don’t forget to scan the blacksmiths. search for things like “elemental damage” or “fire damage” or “medal” to see what you have available.
Don’t be too attached to guns right now: if you find a good melee weapon, just move the points out of Hydra for now. If you do (or when you have more points) Crab would be an excellent place to put those points
It should look like this : Archon, Level 85 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
(On your gun, I just removed the affixes and places just one normal (non-rare) suffix that helps… but you can get MUCH better in a matter of minutes)
I think ive seen folks here debate Wind Devils VS Guardians, and i do have one of them 2handers for +2 more Guardians, however I dunno bout using a 2hander, as i love the tanky from shields, so on the fence about that.
There’s nothing like giving it a try. What are the affixes on the one you have ?
They are incredibly similar. The real difference comes from what gear exist to modify them.
But right now, your build isn’t a “finished product” so … basically anything you have access to (Like that 2-hander) makes one miles ahead of the other. Also, that mace gives you acess to Brute force, which means extra health, and access to Kraken (instead of Hydra) which is more damage on top. If that mace is any good, it’s a no-brainer IMO
Also, the extra points in Guardians it could give you might give you another extra one (you get another one if the skill reaches 24/16)
Its in the weapon swap on the build guide, i also have another one in the bank sec while i get my brain to braining
Ah!
… it’s not that great, but it’s perfectly usable for now.
But the good thing is that you can go back and farm another one.
Ideally you would get a suffix that boosts fire and burn damage, and a prefix that adds flat stats like Offensive ability.
Consider crafting a new belt that boosts Oathkeeper and an amulet that does the same thing to get Guardians to 24/16 so you can have 5 dudes out at once
Ok, the other one i have is: the lvl 55 one with fire, extra fire damage, phys to fire etc
Probably best to do a few runs to find a new better one instead
Regarding the amulet, killing Bolvar in the blood grove is a guaranteed drop. It’s not really a good fit, but it’s +1 oathkeeper level regardless. As for the belt, you can probably craft one of the Dreeg’s belt by now.
