We’re mostly in the fine-tuning phase at this point. So some suggestions for the long term.
Dawnshard gloves would be a better fit since you’re not converting that vitality damage.
Stormbearer boots would also be better here.
Mythical thread of Mortality amulet would help you with health regen and you would still have 26/16 on guardians without the bonus to Oathkeeper.
Very long term: crafting another relic to get the bonus to celestial presence would be ideal.
Maybe try to get another pair of pants with better affixes (though the one you have right now is very good)
Those 2 points in Ghoul don’t help you as much as you think. Better place them in Ulo for more health and more elemental resist. I’ve also moved a few points around to get viper for more OA and stackable elemental resist reduction.
Use a tonic of reshaping to move those points out of cunning. You don,t need them there anymore since you don’t use a gun. Place them all into spirit.
And lastly: if you were to use armor augments to complete your resistances, it would free up component space to put more useful things.
I really do like the health regen, it helps me stay alive!! Cant always see whats going on or whats under my feet sometimes with all the things on the screen, so health pool and health regen are my greatest safety net!!
Im working on getting reputations squared away so I can have access to the more gooder augments! Ill go searching in my stash of all the things to see if I have those items you suggested, thanks DeputyChuck for all your help, your time, and your patience, I truely appreciate it.
Ohhh Pyrans set you say, Lemme go check the box of all things… i think i have 1 or 2 pieces of that around somewhere…ohh box of all things had 2 of them, yay! ok lemme get to work on that, thanks man!
That should be enough as you can transmute and/or craft what you’re missing.
The next important thing is to farm a GOOD Barthollem’s Gavel.
It’s tedious because he’s at the end of a dungeon, and only if you’ve picked to side with the order, and half the time he drops the other mace that boosts fire strike instead…
I have the chest and the shoulders, and campaign wise im just rolling into ft Ikon on Elite difficulty, so ill definately spend some farming time on new hammer.
Edit: A Wild Nemesis appears… and I stood there whilst the minion army went ham… Iron Maiden obliged us by dropping the Pryan’s plan, yay!
So while im farming up reputation and gear and whatnot, my brain started to wander.
It went back to the original subject of this thread to an extent. What would be the toughest, no button (well except for heal potion / evade / and move to command)?
Ive seen the lazy no button build that ive started on, think it was a nightblade/inquisitor for the dual auras which seems fun.
What would the be the tanky’est (probably shield and something else) build to put together to be able to do “most” of the things outside of the few things mentioned? Im sure ive read the combo somewhere, and my brain aint braining =)
I’ve still got a ways to go on the EG/WD army here, reps to gind out and whatnot, but if some gear drops that i should be keeping an eye out for, ill stow it away!
Shameless self-plug, but this one is pretty tough to crack. Sports over 4k hp regen and around 800k retaliation damage on (mostly) affixless greens and faction gear. I am sure it would work mostly as a passivist as well. It is not killing regenerators though, so I am pretty sure it does not clear all content, at least without getting some nice drops. I hope to finish leveling it someday.
Ohhh, I have started that one Thuter, ill keep it in mind.
I’ve been rolling the idea around in my head of using Thuters idea of Counter Strike paired with either an aura of some sort, or some type of player scaling pets (Blade Spirits, WD’s, EG’
s ect).
Im thinking on trying out a soldier oath keeper and see how that goes. It would use some of the same gear im using with the archon build, and perhaps one of the same devotion tree’s we came up with earlier in the thread. It would be a shield build for retaliation with the collosial shield thinget, and probably using a magi helm for an extra EG.
I’ve also pondered that question, and my conclusion is that most combos that look good end up with damage type issues. But I’ve only worked through the lens of trying to make this with health regen. If you were to find a different way to get sustain, you will likely find a decent solution. (something like @thuter’s porcupine build is in that category)
The 5 masteries with a significant amount of health regen are Shaman, Soldier, Demolitionist, Nightblade, and Occultist. If you want this to remain strictly passive, then Nightblade and Occultist have to go as their health regen is tied to their heal skill.
Of the remaining 3, only one has a player-scaled-pet available: Shaman.
2 have a retort-type skill: Soldier (counterstrike) and Demolitionist (Vindictive flame)
Neither of those have a pet to rely on.
While both are great skills that can deal a significant amount of sdamage, they are dependent on enemy attack speed and behavior, kinda forcing you to position yourself in a way that forces enemies to do what you want them to… while pets can actively seek out enemies and take them out. So the most “active” of the passive skills actually allow you to be more passive in a way, so I tend to favor these personally.
Soldier has both a retort-type skill and the most health regen. Conveniently, it also has a set dedicated to that skill in the Blood knight set. That’s a great starting point IMO. You will want to combine that with one of the classes that has a pet.
Option 1: Shaman is a nice fit, but the damage types don’t really line up… unless you go for the Dawnbreaker set, which changes counterstrike to lightning. That build is REALLY tanky and can actually compete quite well with Blood Knight.
Option 2: Nightblade with Blade spirit. Less tanky, but way better damage overall. Blade spirit is really only asking for 16 skill points and your off-hand slot to crank out major damage. It also offers passive bleed and vitality damage, as well as massive cunning bonus. No RR though, sadly.
Option 3: Oathkeeper doesn’t offer any health regen, but the guardians can be made to dish out vitality damage, and give off RR for both vitality and bleed, fitting really well with Blood Knight. It also offers passive damage for holding a shield, which is nice. I have an old build of mine that leverages that combo quite well. It’s not passive, but it wouldn’t take a lot of tweaking to make it so.
There are other combos out there, but I think those are the most effective. (I have a chaos/fire saboteur I’m working on that’s almost passive, using vindictive flame and blade spirit for great damage and health regen, but I think it would fall apart without Pneumatic burst.
Edit: almost forgot: The Chillwhisper set offers great sustain in the form of life leach on blade spirit. Combining that with increased cold damage, health regen and elementall RR (All 3 of which Shaman has) and you would have a pretty tanky build there as well. Here’s another of my work in progress that’s not quite completely passive, but not very far from it.
It does offer healing increase (in Haven). So stuff like Ulzuin’s wrath will heal you more, but it’s really a minor thing for passive skills. It would work well with wendigo totem… but that’s not really passive anymore.
Right on, Ill let that marinate in my mind for a bit. I do recall you saying something earlier about theory crafting a blood knight build, Im game for being the test subject You just point in the general direction folks, and ill give it a go!
Also, I’d like to take a moment, and apologize to everyone for some of my really non optimal communication and errant posts here. I wont make any excuses.
I have multiple TBI’s from surviving arguments with Gravity and the Ground, and those two did indeed take that personally
Long story short, If I dont get out what is on my mind WHEN its on my mind, its lost, and that leads to scatter braining some real nonsense from time to time. If i keep asking the same thing over and over again, its not that i’m being a jerk or trolling or anything of the sort. It’s simply that i just sadly dont remember.
I really appreciate all of you taking your time to assist me, and for putting up with me, I honestly dont have the words to express that properly, so, again, thank you all!
Ya know, come to think of it, I believe DeputyCuck, that the idea i had when I became a member of this community and asked for ideas, was that I do have a warden, and was trying to figure out how to craft it with counter strike, WD’s and all the regen and the counter strike shield.
I dont remember what level that warden is, but when im done getting all the rep ground out on my archon here, and finish Ultimate on it (for the first time even going into Ultimate), ill get back to that character and we can see what happens from there. Either that, or just make another warden muahahaha… erm, is there a character slot limit i should be aware of?
Got into Ultimate, finished act 1. Promptly run to the Shattered Realms, remembers to start small at only shard 20… and was promptly glad i had kept the mace and shield in the weapon swap.
Got beat down so hard by those halberd things, the Map Room Protectors, that i had to change back to the 1handed and shield skill tree and devotion tree DeputyChuck had worked up earlier lol.
So now I work on gear and whatnot. Question, is it better to work for the Pyrans Helm to get that juicy juicy 3rd set piece bonus for all the heals, or start working on the last 3 pieces of the Blightlords set? I currently have 3 of the celestial lotus, so was wondering if healing from pyrans then continue farming for blightlords =)
