The core concept of this build seems so obvious, yet GT entries for it are surprisingly sparse. Vitality Damage Drain Essence with Sigil of Consumption support. Cut and dry… or is it?
The gearing for this build features standard DE gear: Ascendant Source, Gul’Amash, Riftwarped Grasp. The standout piece that I feel needs to be mentioned is the Conduit: 24% Weapon Damage for Drain Essence? Seems mid. Rest assured, it is anything but. Adding Weapon Damage to any skill allows it to benefit from a myriad of flat damage bonuses. This includes Gear, Augments, Devotions, and one of the most powerful sources of flat damage available to any class: Soul Harvest. With all these bonuses and maxed out Casting Speed, flat damage bonuses add up REAL fast.
This leads to what I believe to be the highest sheet DPS I have ever seen:
DPS shown is with Dying God, Blood of Dreeg and Soul Harvest bonuses.
Many of the gear choices featured here are in keeping with the idea of stacking up as much flat damage onto our Drain Essence as possible. The affixes on the MIs are fairly unimportant. Overcapping Resistances is priority. I have cleared SR 34 with virtually no difficulty, and didn’t take it further simply because I was itching to open some loot chests. Seals of Resonance and Chain of Oleron are present to try and max out as many CC Resists as possible.
Playstyle is extremely simple: Curse of Frailty, drop a Sigil of Consumption, cast Bone Harvest, and initiate Big Succ. With our extremely high damage output, the massive AdctH from Drain Essence and our high health pool, we can afford to be fairly aggressive in both skill selection and Devotions. This is why I went with Harbinger of Souls instead of Possession.
The only weakness I have observed in my testing is that if you tend to play the piano and spam your skills whenever they come off cooldown, you will run out of energy pretty fast. Be mindful of Buff and Debuff timers.
