[1.2.1.5] The Blood Mage: bleeding Conjurer

Hi, I’m new to the forum and also a newcomer to Grim Dawn, as this was the first game I’ve played of this game.

Before starting with the build, I wanted to comment that my English level isn´t very good, sorry.

Damage

This is a conjurer (Occultist + Shaman) focused in bleeding damage, a type of DoT. The damage comes from:

    • Stacking as much -RR as you can:
  • Devouring Swarm(-43%) + Curse of Frailty (-47%) + Rend (-32%) + Boneblade (-10%) + Mythical Maw of the Dawned (-10%)

  • Tip the Scales (20%) when procs.

    • And stacking different sources of bleeding damage:
  • Bloody Pox, Hungering Maw, Decapitate, Falcon Swoop, Howl of Mogdrogen, Devouring Swarm, Blood Spine, Blood of the Sands and Rune of Violent Delights (when used).

Sustain

  • 15% Reduced target´s Damage from Rune of Korvan Swiftness (when used)

  • 18% Damage Absorption from Primal Bond

  • Dryad´s Blessing

  • Mend Wounds (from Wendigo Totem)

  • Blood of Dreeg

  • ADCtH from Devouring Swarm and Hungering Maw

  • ≈ 40% Physical Resistance

  • ≈ 20k HP

Leveling Build

Basic Gear

Factions

Prioritize raising your reputation with the Malmouth Resistance and the Cult of Solael to buy the chest armor, shoulders and craft the belt.

Side with Kymon´s Chosen on normal and Elite, and after buying all their important stuff, like Kymon’s Fury, you can switch sides to join Death’s Vigil or not.

Friendly with Barrowholm.

Leveling

Level 10: Shaman, Level 10 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 20: Conjurer, Level 20 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 35: Conjurer, Level 35 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 50: Conjurer, Level 50 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 75: Conjurer, Level 75 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 100: Conjurer, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Once you have reached level 100, complete the game’s main quests (if you have not already done so) and those that reward skill or attribute points, including the first SR levels.

With this budget setup you can farm all skeleton keys dungeons, totems and bosses.

Then you can start farming to get the final equipment.

Shattered Realm

Starting at level 20, if you’re new to the game like me, try to fight the bosses 1vs1 in the boss rooms and you’ll be fine.

Up to SR 33 it works very well, I haven’t tried to go beyond that: https://imgur.com/a/a6FVaHL

You can change Living Armor for Chains of Oleron when Benn’Jarr starts to appear, but I didn’t need it and use a Hoarfrost Ointment against Moosilauke.

Celestials

Bourbon Clones: Enter and exit the room so as not to fight all the clones at the same time.

Lokarr and Crate: The 2 die very quickly but against Crate, an aether cluster saved me from dying.

Crate: https://imgur.com/a/W9rQXHi

Against Mogdrogen, Callagadra and Ravager of Souls it took me about the same time to defeat them, between 7 and 8 minutes.

Modgrogen: I would have liked to repeat the fight as I made a lot of mistakes, and I probably should have tanked more.

Callagadra: https://imgur.com/a/0qGF4kK

Ravager of Souls: The most difficult combat in the game. He hits hard and fast, like Callagadra, but also, his summons are very, very annoying and killed me several times.

Thanks for reading.

:+1: since you have character snapshots from leveling, consider adding even more info (maybe even videos but you probably don’t have a snapshot after reaching level 100 to make one) and adding a beginner build from it for 🔰 Beginner Build Compendium - 103 guides for AoM & FG expansions if it was fun to play that is. We don’t have Pox leveling build iirc. Your English is fine.

curious why you didn’t take shadows, both as extra bleed source but also DR not relying on rune use

Thank you for your feedback tqFan. I think all the stuff I have is here but i´ll try to do it.

Gnomish_Inquisition Yes Shadows is very good but I had problems with my OA against the big bosses.

Not sure how much you’d like to use these melee abilities from components but it I think if would be safer, at least against superbosses you need to kite against, to bind Dryad to Curse of Frailty for example and put bind Falcon to 1p Wind Devils (they also cause some Impaired Aim). This when you don’t need to fight in melee range to heal with Dryad.

I think Gnomish_I. meant the following so I assume you meant Energy Regen this node provides rather than OA

I have observed that many players really like Pox so they would like a beginner build around it.

I usually had the Rune of Korvan Swiftness bound to Dryad, but the Grimtools link reflects the setup I used in the last fight I did in the game, which was against Crate, in which I switched runes and used the Rune of Displacement, which can’t be bound to Dryad, I linked it to Hungering Maw instead. I forgot to change it back (edited).

And about Living Shadow, it often fails because I don’t have enough OA to consistently land critical hits.
