[1.2.1.6] Budget SSF Cold Phantasmal Blades Spellbreaker [SR32]

Another “budget” SSF-Spellbreaker from me here we go!

One of my favorite classes, always has been. But, back in the days it was all about shadow strike builds (you guys remember Soulrend SS?). These days, I lean more into caster spellbreakers. It is a wonderful class to start out with due to the many strong skills available and easy to obtain items that supports them. In fact, I have one more in progress - stay tuned

Here I have done a Phantasmal blades caster where I wanted to convert as much damage into cold.

Phantasmal blades has several damage types:

  • Pierce (main node)
  • Vitality (second node)
  • Cold & Chaos (third node)
  • Weapon damage (main node)

So to maximize damage we need to convert damage types to cold, have high casting speed, and high +%cold damage and OA in order to use the up to +50% crit damage on the third node. Also, skill ranks is of course important!

Gearing options for conversion

Since chaos to cold is the least common conversion, we are pretty much set in stone to have main hand, off hand and shoulders for this conversion (and skill ranks).

With the belt as a “no brainer” item to use, it pretty much boils down to getting pierce to cold conversion from Cortosian chest, Silver sentinel head. And more conversion on the rings, and gloves

The DPS rating is per blade. We have 6 blades to take this number times 6.
It should be noted that you get 5 blades at 16/16 and 6 blades at 24/16 so make sure to hit at least rank 24 on Phantasmal blades!

The Phantasmal blades skill also has in-built life steal which makes it quite a tanky char.

I used the Haunt relic for its skill which reduces the monsters life steal resistances - making it easier to leech back life from them.

Char is fast and fun, but you need to play decently well.

Here SR 32 is cleared

My set up lacks some stun resistances and could also feel better with a larger life-pool… upgrades will come…

Final build goal should use Harra Set and M Arcanum frigus gun

Special thanks to @tqFan for suggestions and ideas along the way.

Maybe next week I post my third (and final) SSF spellbreaker :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks

It was fun to make, but tricky to get you know from “ok I have a build that can clear totems in Ultimate” to “now I have a build that can clear SR25+”

I went with dual spectral blades with casting speed until I could by the faction weapon and off-hand. DPS went down when I equipped them… so I switched back and farmed Kra’vall in normal for decent shoulders and gargoyle belts in normal… once I had those I farmed totems a bit more until I got a silver sentinel chest piece → transformed to helmet for pierce to cold conversion… and then I took it from there. Gladly there are quite many options for conversion and + to relevant skills

Yeah, I was thinking here about how tricky the leveling should be until you’re able to obtain some items, fresh new players may struggle a bit

As long as you have two spectral longswords with casting speed + gargoyle belt + kra’vall shoulders you’ll be fine.

Rest is just a matter of farming and upgrading percentages at the time. At least Silver sentinel helmet is easy to get since it is able to be transmuted to (but offer no skills etc, maybe I should just stick with fettan mask tbh).

But just the transition from “I can do any totem in ultimate” to “I can play SR25 almost blindely”, getting that gear took some hours. Still not that much farming compared to other builds and other games… I think the result was “worth” it

As I wrote, as soon as you get Harran helmet blueprint, just devote your life in getting the entire set from craft and transmutes xD
