[1.2.1.6] Pollarized Lightning Dagallon Purifier

Greetings, comrades:

I return to this temple of wisdom to share with you this build, created with the items I had stored away (I know they can be improved). Let’s get started.

PROS:

  • Sublime wave clearing.
  • Offensive capacity to the moon.
  • +19k health, more than enough.
  • +2600 defensive capacity, enough to avoid critical hits.
  • +2300 armor, for a gunslinger, that’s pretty good.
  • Easy to play (only two buttons).
  • All attacks are piercing.
  • -135% Lightning RR

CONS:

  • Only one lifesaving skill.
  • Like all gunslingers with two weapons, it feels weak (in HC).
  • You have to know how to position yourself.

SAFE VERSION:

Well, having said all that, to clarify, use the rune you like best (I recommend Amatok’s).

In this case, unlike the previous build I brought, which was total theorycrafting, I’m currently using this one, and the truth is that the massive damage it does is surprisingly good. I haven’t tried it with the secret bosses or the superbosses yet, I’ll leave that for when I level up all the active skills of the constellations.

Even when everything is done, I don’t know if it will be capable, considering that I always play in hardcore mode. When I see a danger to my life, I hit Alt+F4. If anyone wants to try it in softcore mode and is capable of doing the classic ravager+callagadra+crate, let me know.

Thank you for reading this far. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Looks nice, except for that 160% attack speed
I’d also put ultos on thermite mines probably. I haven’t tested it, but seems like crit on a wps doesn’t happen that consistently/often. Mines trigger once per sec so should be better?

You may be right, if I equip it to the mines it will be more efficient, and regarding attack speed, it may be partially solved with Emberguard Grips with good attributes, but I don’t have any, and those gloves add an active skill that deals free damage.

Why not just invest more points in Vindictive Flame? It grants total speed. Sweet spot is 11 points, after that the gains slow down. (But can still be worth it, though maybe not on this character.) You probably don’t need that many points in Steel Resolve, or could take some from Arcane Empowerment, or leave Blast Shield at 10. (Another sweet spot, 10 ranks boosts max resistance by 1)

And of course Consecrated Wrappings in the hand armour is a bit of a no-brainer, 8% extra attack speed. (costs a bit of poison resistance, but you can fix that by using the Rover poison resistance augment instead of all those that give Pierce Res. Your pierce resistance is a bit overkill)

I’d also overcap Thermite Mines. More RR is better than another few percent damage from those other skills.

Oh, and why Oleron’s in the gun instead of Seal of the Void? The seal will also max out your WPS but it actually deals and boosts fire damage. Okay, nevermind that. Because this is a lightning attack build.
Oh, and I’d invest another point in Storm Spread/bursting round, to give you exactly 100% WPS chance.

And on devotions: Do note that Viper and Ultos RR do not stack. Still, Viper does give nice OA and Ultos is good in general, so it’s not that big a deal.

Thanks Jason for the critique, you have a point.

I thought that when RR was in %, it accumulated, but what didn’t accumulate were the numerical RRs, without the %. That’s why I put it in.

I put in Oleron to increase my pool of WPS, to reach 100% and make sure they all pierce.

So I’ll take your advice about Vindictive Flame and give it a try.

Thanks again.

Almost. But there are THREE types of RR:

  • x reduced target’s foo resistances (AKA flat RR) → does not stack.
  • x% reduced target’s foo resistance → does not stack
  • -x% foo resistance → DOES stack

The second type (which is the one viper and Ultos give) is rarest and also least impactful because it is applied multiplicatively in the calculation after the third type. So generally not as big a deal.

Shorthand: Look for the - sign, that is the one that stacks.

After 6,000 hours, I’m still learning.

This is how it would look after a few minor adjustments. It loses some vitality, but I think it’s more balanced.

It is not how many hours in the game that counts, is how many hours you have spent in grim tools that matters

And on this forum.

I would never have figured half of this out without reading about it here. Also got a bunch from some old Titan Quest mechanics videos. (Which aren’t always exactly the same, but this game sure has a lot of titan quest genetics in it.) And I still regularly discover I got something wrong…

Looks much nicer! (To my journeyman-level eyes, that is.) That high OA should ensure a lot of Deadly Aim procs, which seems important as I don’t think you have any other sources of flat RR.

My first character was a purifier, and I tried Dagallon’s set after I finally got her to level 94. (By which time I’d already gotten three other characters there…) Didn’t like it and ended up using the Stronghold set instead. But that was before they added the polarised guns, single-damage channel version looks a lot better.

I do note your devotions are very offensively oriented. I never did manage to get both Tempest and Spear of the Heavens in a single character, I like having my turtles and crabs and whatnot too much. But hey, see if it works for you. (Although in hardcore I might think otherwise… but I don’t play that so I don’t really know.)
