Hey, first time posting here but I’ve looked around for a while and just wanted to put a build out there to share and get some feedback and work on optimizing a bit more.
Originally built as a theme build based on my favorite Vermitide 2 character - Victor Saltzspyre, specifically his Bounty Hunter class that does ranged exploding crits with a crossbow, lots of fun.
I’ve taken a liking to the build and wanted to push it from meme to higher performance. I’ve taken a fair bit of inspiration from Mad_Lee’s piercing gunslinger Paladin (which I’ve played a fair bit and had some good fun on, Thanks!). I’ve spent quite some time trying different arrangements of gear and devotions, and it has felt pretty good overall in my time of playing around with the different versions.
usual disclaimer of this is an endgame build (and probably a pain to farm for)
Got to have the piercing crossbow, though I think the Messenger rifle is likely better especially since it fully converts the elemental damage and more resist reduction
Korvaak helm is great here, the original theme build had the blue Bounty Hunter’s Hat
Gunslinger chest is a no-brainer
Grava legs for important stats and Death Sentence
Vengeance Relic seems like the best option
Treacherous belt for conversion and good stats, maybe some other +1 belt would be better
Bladetwister seems great, and fancy Vine ring for all the stats
Mogara neck always seemed best to me, but maybe could be tweaked
Wendigo Eye for WoP is crazy good
Quickdrawn seems great
Iron Maiden shoulders for more upheaval, probably the Moosi shoulders for more safety
Warboots to sneak in the stun resist and some more cunning, tried out Windshear in previous versions
I have futzed with so many different devotion variations but the gear has been pretty consistent
I’ve tried to push the OA up on this version, other versions had maybe 100-200 less, the one aggressive over another cutthroat does some extra I think. The DA has been great on the build, always over 2.7k. HP and resists have looked good once I stopped tricking myself in the builder with Inqu-Seal giving ele resist.
GT link updated and save file available, let me know if the save has issues.
Secondly, just a heads-up: In the upcoming patch (Which will release with the next expansion, I hear) upheaval is set to be changed to become a normal WPS skill.
So that would require reworking this build. You’d need to get points in Storm Spread, Feral Hunger, etc. instead to get to 100% WPS. Which I imagine would still work fine, but it would change how the build feels with all the pyrotechnics on the various inquisitor WPS skills.
Interesting to know about 1.3/FoA. I’m excited for the patch and expansion but have intentionally not looked at any of the patch notes yet.
I have tried WPS versions of the build (they were much better AoE at the time) but I did want to stay on theme and the current upheaval is just too on point to not use.
Here is the save file if people want to try it out, should be good but let me know if there are issues _Victor Saltzpyre.zip (815.2 KB)
still can’t edit my post but it isn’t a big deal just wish I could edit the title, I r guud spelr
I can edit now!
Yeah, I liked using the seal bonus for always having it up, likely something I would shuffle a point into if I was doing lots of SR on the build. I do find the build is quite sturdy without the seal so it can go both ways, and I’m torn on what to take the points out of.
Scales not being attached is just an oopsies, any permanent buff is fine though, I think the save has it on Mogdrogen’s.
Did some minor adjustments for 1.3 since Upheaval is now a WPS so you need as close to 100% as possible.
Also, having some DA shred = MOAR DAMAGE, as does having some Crit+ added in. So Rune of Haggrad + Arcane Empowerment = greatly increased effective DPS.
Otherwise, you did pretty well all up, and it’s good to see that Crossbow getting some much needed use :3
