Foreword

How long has it been? - Twenty years…

Oh man, coming back to posting builds is surely sth. And let’s start with some banger - or, should I say, bonker?

Vitality Upheaval Ritualist is definitely one of the best vit melees and a very strong build overall. Core of the build is the Spectral Warmaul, which got reworked in the latest PT.

The build has very high solo damage (which can be boosted furthermore by potion mods) combined with big RR, which makes it an excellent Celestial killer. Only things holding this one back are the lack of movement skills and pretty low aoe.

Gear

  • Helmet - Ravager is a budget choice. Can replace it with a well-rolled Dread mask.

  • Shoulders - I ended up with Dread Shadow instead of Korvan pauldrons because of dr proc (ditched Omen for blood pact) and overall good stats.

Other pieces of gear are pretty much obvious with certain freedom in affixes.

What about Ascended affixes?

I got pretty lucky with rolling a lot of + chances to Upheaval - our biggest wps - on almost 1st rolls. If you’re not as lucky as me myself, + chance to NE will do too, although build’s overall damage will be lower. AS/CS affix on weapon is very good. OA/DA affixes will do too since the build lacks OA a bit.

What about potion modifiers?

I use Sansochromatis+Sanginis for healing pot and Primordis+Ventorus for energy one. Sanginis amplifies our damage even further; one can replace it with Amplicorum which I don’t have atm yet. Ventorus is very good for extra ms since we have no native moveskill. Primordis is mostly for Bobr fight but can be replaced literally with anything.

Build is good. Very good. Sure, it may cost you a little fortune to roll all the needed ascended affixes but the result will absolutely be worth it.

Yeah I have a “budget/beginner” sketch Ritualist, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
Problem is you have to be hostile with Barrowholm to farm the medal. You can go hostile in normal/elite and farm a good one - then you go friends in Ultimate to fight ravager. Or, farm it in Shattered Realm

This maul is really much better than it was on 1.2.1.6, happy to see what this changes hit live. Can you please a little elaborate about “well rolled Dread mask”? What affixes will be bis?

Been playing a build very similar to this, hits hard and it is fun to just bonk stuff

sth like aggressive/stalwart of the void harbinger/theurgist of sth (theurgist will probably be bis). also with current rerolling system, I think it’s real to roll double rare one too.

With the massive nerf to the Harbinger set for Onslaught + Doom Bolt Mystics, is this now the only known build capable of beating uber N’erf?

nah, i don’t think so. Harbinger still should be able to do it (given that Uber Nerf’s health was… nerfed a bit) + there are pet builds and casters + really a ton of still unexplored or simply untested ones.

Quick question here. Following the build as you have provided, what would general prioritization be with Skills?

So far I have been prioritizing Upheaval, Savagery, Spectral Binding and Spectral Wrath. Would it be better for the build to go straight for Harbinger of Souls for the Vit Damage and the Life Steal or should I aim to pump points into Devouring Swarm for the RR? I already have the Spectral Warmaul which should give the Spectral Wrath a 42% Vit RR but I’m wondering if I should bother going the full 90% RR on Normal mode (seems a little excessive. I know in Ultimate that RR is a bigger deal).

as long as you have one source of RR before going into ultimate you are fine, go for Harbringer of souls over swarm i’d say. Get one point swarm just to get the game play loop into your muscle memory

Using your budget set-up I leveled a character and farmed some gear. I reached 100 a bit before homestead in ultimate and have been playing on ascendant mode with it. Just killed karroz and made it to fort ikon. Very strong, bonk/10.

Hi, trying to make this build on a fresh start. Leveling as shaman primal strike atm, what level you think is good to switch to this assuming i have the maul?

well, probably as soon as you have all/most of the needed gear at least for the budget setup @GIJW linked above. till that you can play vit ps or vit caster, w/e suits you better.

I sided with death’s vigil as leveling, big mistake, now I cannot get the amulet lol

buy it in blood grove “secret” vendor or farm with an old char

You can either farm it on another char, or buy it from Benevald, or just side with Kymon on the next difficulty, unless you’re already on ultimate.

Thank you, so far the build seems really good, a lot of HP while leveling, feels insane and hard to die
