Hello, I am Doom, and I have wanted the poo-themed items to be good in Grim Dawn for a long time.
Back in 2016, when I was modding the game, I considered it and then never got around to it.
Back in 2020, I believe I had brought up more than a few times that the secret poo-themed items should be part of a set and made decently functional.

Thank you @mardoman from Discord for putting together the entire build’s starting point in gear and devotion, listening to my feedback and absurd requests for help compensating some purposefully less optimal choices to make sure it didn’t sacrifice memeyness for strength where it didn’t have to. Thank you to the rest of the people on and off Discord who gave me more feedback, or told me about their experiences and attempts to build the set, what felt good, what didn’t. You guys are helping me complete the dream I had 10 years ago of a almost strong poopy . Finally, thank you Zantai and the entire Crate team for making my favorite game!!!)
My sh!tty thoughts on the build:
Itemization and Gameplay Summary
You run around, curse at people, throw feces at them, vomit on them (seal of blight), fart on them, then run away pissing yourself (my transmog choices are near mandatory; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Those boots are magical pee boots).
The build is very clunky because there are a lot of active skills. Dreeg’s afflicted spines feel a bit clunky to use. Swapping between using throw feces and Acid Purge is also clunky. Acid Purge has more sustain via lifesteal, but the sustain is not great.
The build is as squishy as the poo you fling; damage absorb ascension bonuses to possession feel unfortunately necessary. I’m still trying to get more instances of it on my gear.

Ascension item bonuses
Ascension bonuses aside from posession that I do not want to get rid of:
- Blood of Dreeg chance to reduce cooldown on getting hit. This brings up my heal quite a bit more often actually. I am happy only having ONE instance of this on my gear.
- 5% lifesteal and 25OA. With the low % weapon damage on acid purge, hard to tell if this is worth it, but I’m considering chasing another instance of it on my gear because sustain is lacking.
- More resist reduction to curse of frailty is always welcome, but I prefer trying to squeeze more survivability onto possession personally.
- Everything else I’m looking to replace with possession or more of the above.
Changes to the set I'd like to see
- The more I play the set, the more I feel some of the intended charm is that it’s a bit underpowered, it’s a poop set after all, and you have to double ascend with good bonuses your gear to get it to be able to squeeze through ult with some comfort and maybe do ascendant with deaths here and there. What do you expect? It’s sh!t! For those who want to challenge a ranged character, that also feels kind of like a good puzzle to solve, this might actually be the build for you. Some bosses are just tough to deal with in challenge content, but others this build clears no problem. I’m still getting used to piloting it. I’ll have feedback maybe once I better understand what the dev intends for the set and after I’ve played it through harder content more.
FAQ
- Wouldn’t spam DEE be better?
Yes, but then why play spam throw feces and acid purge at all? The goal was to focus on the theme but still function through ultimate and higher SR at least. - I hate farming that ring, any alternative?
- Awakened ring of eternal rot (thanks for suggestion @Ceno), better offensively, but you will have to shift resist augments around.
