[1.3.0.8] Happy Bleeding Kangaroo Zealot - Leap spamming skater, SR 30-31 5:30

As a heavy Skater addict back in FG, I was literally unable to play any build that doesn’t spam Vire’s Might, but praise Crate we now have Leap as an alternative!

And what if we use both Vire’s Might and Leap? We get a Happy Kangaroo build.

The build

Damage-wise this build is not top-tier, but it is probably one of the fastest builds in terms of travelling speed. This makes it a good choice for farming totems, treasure troves, MIs, roguelike dungeons, materials etc.

Also it makes skater addicts happy. :smirk:

Explanation of the build

The build is quite straightforward:

  • Conduit + Volcanic Stride + High OA = Frequent Leap CDR procs
    • the Conduit is purely for its “30% Chance on Critical Attack to reduce cooldown of Leap by 1 Second” modifier
    • Volcanic Stride multi-hits nearby targets every second, making it highly efficient at proccing Conduit’s CDR, even against single target
  • Ragrathar’s Horn offhand = Additional Leap CDR and charges
    • Since the CDR from both the Conduit and the offhand relies on RNG, the +1 charge is actually huge and makes chaining Leap much smoother
  • Jarldin set = +240% Weapon Damage to Leap
    • at 26/16 we get 585% total WD, which is good for amplifying flat bleeding damage from Bloodborne, Presence of Virture, gears, and devotions
  • Because our main damage type is bleeding, which is never converted, we don’t need to worry about those conflicting damage conversions on the gears

Videos

Curious about the happy part of the build? Just have a look at the videos below:

Fighting new Mogdrogen

SR 30-31 5:30

Yeah it is not the hardest-hitting build, but it will definitely satisfy the urge of constantly moving around for any skater addicts. It’s also very user-friendly, you don’t need to point your mouse at the target accurately, which is very helpful if you are heavily drunk can’t see the screen clearly for some reasons.

Budget version

You actually don’t need the full gear setup to become kangaroo, you’ll get 95% of the mobility as soon as you get the offhand + conduit, which are one of the most accessible gears in the game.

Where to get them, spoiler alerts
  • Ragrathar’s Horn is dropped by, obviously, Ragrathar in Asterkarn Valley in the base game. You can farm this as soon as you have progressed to Fort Ikon in Normal difficulty
  • You can buy blueprints of Conduits at the NPC vendor in FG roguelike dungeon

With these two pieces and some random cheap gears you can already do most of the contents in ascendant mode, e.g.

Remarks

On piloting the build
  • It is highly advised to keep pressing down “Force Move” key during fighting. Otherwise very often your character just stands still doing nothing in spite of you repeatedly smashing the Leap key. This is a known issue since FG skater builds
  • My key bindings FYI:
    • Alt: Force Move
    • C: Leap
    • LMB: Move To
    • RMB: Vire’s Might
    • Z X V A S D: other active skills
  • Jumping back and forth like the videos above is actually not needed, it’s just a habit left over from when I used to play skater builds
  • Although Vire’s Might doesn’t provide much damage in this build, as explained above it is crucial for Leap CDR, so don’t forget to recast it often. And when casting Vire’s Might you do need to travel through the target like the videos
On DPS of Leap
  • If simply regarded as a pure bleeding skill, Leap is probably quite far from the best choices. Comparing to other bleeding skills such as CD Blade Arc / Circle of Slaughter, the base bleeding damage of Leap (+ Fault Line) per skill point is much lower, and neither does it have +% crit damage bonus like other choices.
  • Semi-spamming Leap as a bleeding skill is probably also a suboptimal choice because the DoT just doesn’t stack. A physical or cold kangaroo build is possibly much more efficient in relating Leap CDR to DPS.
  • Another possibility to boost DPS of the build is adding Onslaught stack to it. Because the Conduit CDR is binded to Werewolf, which makes the Onslaught skill unavailable, the best remaining choice seems to be Beronath relic. Unfortunately I don’t have the blueprint and haven’t tried it out yet. Also, adding a spammable skill into the build makes it less kangarooism.
  • That being said, the current setup still provides adaquate damage in boss fighting, and when playing Ascendant mode the overall QoL improvement it provides is just so significant compared to builds that still run, so I’m still quite satisfied at its current status ATM. Maybe I’ll try a physical or hybrid setup later, if I had the time.
PC performance issue
  • I actually have quite serious framerate drop issue when playing this build in some FoA and SR maps. My guess to the reason is that Fault Line creating too many visual effects or collision checks when spamming Leap. When recording the videos I had to tune down most of graphic settings and turn off damage and enemy health display, but FPS still dropped to 10ish in crowded regions. Any suggestion on this issue is greatly appreciated

Final notes

Don’t try this build if you still want to play other builds that run on foot :fist_right::boom::crazy_face:
