I join the ranks of the lurkers posting their first probably bad theory build in anticipation of the new patch.
I’ve been wanting to build an Apostate for ages, but could never decide on a damage type that didn’t feel like it would be better done by another combo. Thanks to some shiny newtoys however I’ve been inspired.
This is my theorycrafted Aether Apostate which I hope to be able to test once the xpac comes out. I’m pretty happy with it on paper, though I’m fairly certain it can be further optimized by people with more exhaustive game knowledge than me.
Feel free to comment, critique, mock, etc. Here’s to fresh game content!
Edit: Made some changes based on @GIJW pointing out where I probably screwed up. Changes include more speed, less layered RNG on the devotions, and basic lvl 55 or lower magic affixes picked out for the greens. Anyone got thoughts on if it’d be worth to swap Serenity for Salvation to try and help the armor out?
Are arcane currents good chance to proc from WPS?
Reaping strike has 26% chance to activate, and arcane currents 25% (according to GT might be different in game) that means every 16th strike you will proc arcane currents. But arcane currents has very short cool down so it would function better on a ticking skill like storm box.
Phoenix fire has duration, you can bind it to WoP.
Not sure why so many points in word of agony. You can dtich those points into ranged expertice for more speed.
Physical res and armor is very bad, but life pool is decent.
OA is very low, hopefully you can get “of attack” suffixes on belt and medal.
The arcane currents placement was from a devo layout that didn’t have phoenix, thanks for catching that.
The greens definitely need OA and some targeted resistance farming. Possibly change the pants to dreeg-sect or one of the nemesis pants that give OA to have more slots I’m stat-sticking in.
As for WoA- that’s probably me overvaluing the increased impaired aim chance post soft-cap. I’ll drain points from one to the other and see how it turns out.
Funny enough, the set gun reduces the target’s damage by up to 19% which is why i didn’t pick the horn to begin with. I’d read on the forums that “x% reduced whatever” doesn’t stack.
I’d use Rune of Haggard over the other one, it has far, far more DA shred, and Crit damage helps a lot. Anyhow, this is what I’d do:
Change the augments to give more health as well, since the overcap on pierce and acid was way over what’s actually needed. Also added Ill Omen and Mark of Torment for added survivability. As remember, Ill Omen gets everything you’re not firing on and lasts for the whole time it effects enemies While moved points into Cunning to get much needed OA for increase chance to Crit.
Oh and used “Impervious” as the suffix for the medal, which covers both acid and pierce resist far better, meaning even MOAR health is possible to be stacked :3
You also forgot the Completion bonus on the relic, which the one for all attributes is often best in slot. And everything should be crafted for physique% too provided freeze resist is close enough to 80%. Which means DA can get closer to 3000.
Though I suspect Marauder’s Talisman might be the better relic per others experiences with dual pistol WPS builds. Especially as this build doesn’t stack much cooldown reduction.
Main difference compare to other attempts - you need soul harvest and 20\10 wps for damage, otherwise build would be too weak. Recent inq seal buffs helps this build too.
