At the moment my character is 81, only has a few purple items, and is currently transitioning to acid/poison from a leveling physical/pierce setup (it was my first character), but the above build seems to tick most of the boxes and even in a semi finished state with a lot of resistance gaps, it seems to hold up well in Ultimate mode so far.
I especially like having tainted eruption proccing with ring of steel.
Thanks for the changes, looking at it made me realise that I didn’t need Cadnace at all in the final build - a remnent of my phys/pierce setup.
Taking some insiration from your setup I came up with this idea, which doesn’t change too much in the way of gear, maintains roughly the same resists as before, and improves the OA/DA:
Olreon Rage dosent scale past skill level 12, so you can reduce it to 12/12
Veterancy is useless. Decorated soldier scale terrible, drop to onepointer, put one point in Elemental awakening if you need %ele res. Night chill should be maxed, you need every tiny bit of %RR cause most stuff resist acid/poison. PB,SD and Warcray should be at 12/12
BTW ive tried poison 2H SS BM before SS nerf and it felt terrible - no dmg at all against half of stuff. Should be even worse now.
You’ve got no defensive devotion and no life steal on a blade master ? (well life steal ain’t so usefull on a poison build, but it can help a little)
You’ll be crushed real fast in ultimate, plus devotions on wps is really bad.
Take less offensive devotion and more defensive ones, Behemoth and chariot or ghoul or bat, should be a great help I think.
I don’t think you need eye of the guardian, lion and scholar’s light, they’re all terrible for your build. I would do something more like this : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-SIYns8 (go for devotion setup) the last 5 points are up to you.
Twin fangs on ABB
Scorpion sting on War Cry
Acid spray on shadow strike
Tainted eruption on ring of steel
Oh, and 12/12 war cry, 12/12 field command 1/12 squad tactics (you do not need aspd that much), no markovian advantage (you’re not doing much basic attack anyway, you’ll be more like rotating cd skills).
At least 5 or 6 for menhir’s will, you probably do not need 10/8 on decorated soldier and scars of battle.
Pneumatic burst 12/12 and no breath of belgothian (it works only with dual wield)
You might want to go for Nightfall at 1 point, it gives shadow strike an AOE and a limited CC (it helps to proc devotions).
If you do that, you can try blade spirit with scorpion sting attached (I’m not sure if it will be very usefull though, needs to be tested)
You’ll also probably need to rethink your equipement, but I don’t see how at the time being.
That said, I support you, two handed sword ain’t great, but they’re cool.
I’d really like if you managed to make it work.
I’ve still been working on this build, and since the release of AoM it seems a lot more options became available to my 2h acid build.
So far I have managed to breeze through ultimate all the way upto the final quests of AoM with only a handful of deaths due to unexpected nemesis encounters or over confidence on my part. The character is a lot of fun to play and thrives (literally) on large groups of mobs.
My only concern in the build is with Acid Spray and MA. I’m not sure whether it is worth wasting a skill point in MA just to have Acid Spray rarely proc while MA itself really only going proc during long bouts of toe-to-toe fighting, ie: nemeses. I originally had Acid Spray attached to Whiring Blades but of course, I’ve had to re-adjust since the changes in 1.0.3.0
Should I just ignore the celestial proc and put the skill point back in Menhir’s Will, or should I attach it to War Cry and ignore Scorpion Sting?
Update: I switched Scorpion Sting With Acid Spray and I think it works better this way. MA proc is more noticeable as well with SS attached to it and having AS attached to WC gives it 100% chance which basically gives WC a permanent AoE attack element.
