I like finding things on my own. I truly do. However, I am really curious about the Transcendent Relic Recipes. I can’t seem to find any from the faction vendors. I don’t remember where I found the ones that I have. I have quite a few, but not for lightning damage. I am playing a Shaman atm (no dual class for now, might go Druid) and I am searching for anything that will boost my lightning output. Right now I am blowing up the screen with Primal Strike as my primary attack option.
Is there one? For lightning damage? Or do I use the elemental damage one?
Do they drop in a specific area? Or are they all random world drops?
Do they only drop from chests? If so, where and which chest would I keep an eye on?
Bounties? If so, which faction? Or any? All?
Is there a specific monster type, rarity, or level?
The more powerful relic recipes won’t drop on veteran difficulty at all, nor will the rarer component recipes (e.g. antivenom salve, shard of Beronath etc). Some of them will start dropping on elite difficulty and some can only be found on ultimate difficulty (e.g. Deathstalker).
For a transcendent Relic, you’re looking for Desolation and for a mythical relic Eye of the Storm. Those are the pure lightning relics, but on mythical Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm is fire/lightning in equal measure and a good fit especially for an elementalist. Desolation should drop on veteran difficulty, but you won’t find for sale.
IIRC you can buy them from Vinelton, but I didn’t get antivenom salve until Elite difficulty and that was on the third char I played for any length of time. It was long ago, though. Might have changed at some point.
But yeah, the relic recipes usually drop from boss monsters, treasure troves and totems.
depending on your definition of powerful, a handful of endgame relics can drop on veteran (Solael’s Decimation comes to mind since i got that one myself on veteran whhile running the councilmen) due to items in GD not being locked by difficulty, but rather by level
Antivenom salve is a default recipe and it’s a lvl 20 component at that too, and bero shard is lvl 60 so it’s 100% obtainable on veteran
again, not difficulty locked, and since (according to GT) some areas scale up to lvl 90 on elite it’s possible to find Deathstalker on elite
I have Elite unlocked, but I am still in the process of playing different class combos. My Ranged Fire Damage Commando is the highest level at 58. My 2-Hander Lightning Damage Druid id 55. My Dual Wield Blademaster is 50. My newest edition is a Death Knight that hasn’t reached level 15 yet.
Once I get the DK to the end of Vanilla, I will split my classes. 2 will go into Ashes and 2 will start over in Elite. I guess it’s my way of prolonging a game. Also, I want to see which characters find new recipes so I can make more Transcendent Relics.
Of course crafting purples would be fun as well. So far I can only craft one. Dread Mask of Gurgoth. I am using it on the Druid for the lightning damage. At least I can focus my attention on that too, especially since the purples I have found so far are meh at best.
