Boo to patch 1.0.0.7 or whatever number that was justws patches
Killed +5400 dps from my duel wielding pistol elementalist from just above 17k to just above 12k. These kind of changes irratate me to know end. I got my character to homestead ultimate level 84 1/2. Thought maybe at 17k dps I might be able to kill atherial nemesis but now its like I’m a level 74 again not going to try. So now dps is up to luck and rng as one more level isn’t going to give me that lost dps.
My level 65 sabatuer lost 400dps.
Don’t turn into diablo 3 and kill builds with every patch its a turn off. Imagine if in the 80’s nintendo patched all there games the way games are now…video games would have died.
Depending on what skills you used, the DPS calculation for some abilities was changed as it was previously inaccurate.
Similarly, some damage was shuffled between Fire Strike and Explosive Strike, which is a minimal DPS change against single target.
Before you panic at a DPS value change, better to actually see how it feels in practice. You may find that your output has not changed as much as you think.
There have been significant QoL changes. Yes there were some nerfs. If your build got nerfed then optimize it to the new changes accordingly rather than whining about it.
You’re insulting the game by saying it’s turning into D3. They’re not killing builds (although i still don’t like the warpfire change). If you go line by line on the patch notes you’d notice how nice the changes are this patch.
I’m running a Fire Strike Commando (Rifle) and just got into Elite this morning. My sheet DPS has decreased about 1500…but I’m not really noticing a change. Probably early for me, but meh.
I did read the patch notes not line by line as most of it I don’t care about such as tech notes and bug fixes. I read about the new dungeon and them scrolled down to read demo, shaman, and nightblade changes. The first thing I noticed when I turned game on was the drop in dps so thats not a initial good feeling toward changes. What you say about adjust your build and not whine about it is not my intentions. Yet when developers change the game slightly over time that you have to change how you like to play to make it viable, this is a prime example of how not to patch things as its essentially patching a play our way mentality.
I did not say the game is turning into d3, far from it this game is fun. I said “don’t” turn the game into d3 by constant changes to the game that forces people to change how they like to play to how the developers choose the game to play at a current time.
Did the patch affect my build? Hard to say I still cover the screen in a firey mayham and now at level 85 I don’t care if or how many times I die.
On a side note of another character of mine the visual change in the crab devtion skill is fantastic.
I think it is understandable a lot of people don’t understand what really happened with the DPS calc. That thing is generally very inaccurate, but a lot of players don’t know that. They see a DPS number and assume it is correct. Considering the change of explosive strike’s damage being a secondary effect now and not being calculated with the DPS calc, a lot of people saw massive losses on their DPS number on the char sheet. I know my sorc lost 10k on the sheet, but still feels the same in practice.
You would need to be really plugged in on how the game’s mechanics and ui work to understand that even with a detailed explanation from the devs or players. It’s an unfortunate situation, but these posts will always happen because of the engine limitations related to secondary effects and the DPS calc.
Edit:@OP I would say just be cautious of basing your assumptions of changes based on the DPS calc on the character sheet. It is very inaccurate and does not take a lot of abilities and effects into account.
Guess I’ll farm elite nemesis for Ulzuins Headgear plan as I can’t even get a shot off on ultimate before the atherial guy teleports stun and one shots me.
