A couple of quick questions

Despite my extensive familiarity with Titan Quest, some things in Grim Dawn still allude me. As much as I love the game, I actually feel like a lot of the deeper aspects of the game are poorly explained, or not explained at all. I seem to have to spend a lot of time poking around on the internet to figure out things that should be clear in the game. Maybe this stuff IS explained in the game somewhere, but if so, it’s not easily found. Or maybe I’ve just grown used to games like Diablo 3 where everything is laid out clearly.

Anyway, I’m not trying to bash or anything, as I said, I love the game. Here are some quick questions:

1.) I was poking around on the Grim Dawn Wikia for some recipe stuff and I came across some info that said each Blacksmith gives a different random bonus affix when crafting, and also has some gear unique to that particular NPC. Is that really a thing? Or is it old info that hasn’t been updated? I’m not at home to test it, but if this is true, I’ve never known it and it’s a bit irksome. That’s exactly the kind of thing that should be very clearly explained by the game so that you can make informed crafting decisions.

2.) I’ve noticed that the final tier of the Faction Vendors you can buy a Mandate which increases reputation gained by for that faction. My question is…why would I need that? If I’m already at maximum reputation, why do I need a bonus to reputation gain? Is it an account wide bonus or something?

It’s the little things like this that I wish were more clearly explained. I also wish the mini map had much more visible icons for the NPC’s. Not all of us have played for hundreds/thousands of hours yet and can memorize where everyone is (especially in places like Homestead) and those icons do not exactly jump out at you on the mini map.

Any answers to the above questions are appreciated!

I cant actually tell you, what the differences between the two blacksmiths are, but if you talk to them during the questline, Arngrim will tell you, that one is more focused on physical attributes, while the other is focused on magical attributes.

As for the writs, you can buy them with one character and use them on another character, which is pretty self-explanatory if you read the text below the writ.

Thanks for clarification guys.

Mmm…no.

It is for ONE character, but you can apply it to other characters that are just starting out to expedite the faction-gain progress.

Also not true. Duncan and Angrim have different starting blueprints and all blacksmiths have different blacksmith bonuses from one another.

  1. yes, every blacksmith has different crafting bonuses, not to be confused with bonuses from affixes. As far as different items are concerned, that is true for Angrim and the other one between which you choose, but it is only the case for 3 or so starter items each, everything else anyone can craft

  2. so you can give it to another char to help him reach the reputation faster

The a tale of two blacksmiths quest gives you many hints about their crafting style when you talk to them.

Also you can hover all the smiths craft icon and it will list their bonuses.

Elude.

Elude.

Autocorrect continues to elude actually being correct.

And the blacksmith bonuses are pretty much ignorable until endgame ennui sets in, and you decide to try for rolling doubles into your random stat slots.
