I have waited for diablo 3 for like 5 years and I bought it 2 years ago… Today I visited the site and read about the game being online fare collection.
Ever since I played Diablo 2 with LAN connection with my friends I have had this love for Action Role Playing Games, but there will be no Offline mode for diablo 3… When i found out about Grim Dawn, I noticed that there are still game Creators that care for the players and not only about their money:) I really gotta invest on this game, since its thought about games is so PURE!
Since TQ was such a good game considering all the factors, I really wanna see what this game is gonna be like. I have my hopes up… I wish I dont need to be disappointed:)
My opinion about what could be done better since titan quest:
Bosses that use no resources in their abilities (like mana… It was annoying to have the team burn the mana of a boss out and have him just wave his staff instead of doing something cool and challenging)
More balanced classes/skills (as an example: a character focusing on defense would practically do nothing)
More difficult game or just chance to change the difficulty
a Larger number of practical skills/abilities/spells (in titan quest there were many skills that would do practically nothing)
and well… The rest of the game was just frigging awesome
All of the things you mentioned as needing improvement in TQ are things we’ve worked to address in Grim Dawn and will continue to improve after release if we find there are imbalance that need to be corrected.
TQ was only properly supported for a few months after release because it was owned by the publisher and that is all they cared to put into it. With Grim Dawn, it is our game and we will keep supporting throughout the years.
Just like my Dream/Ghost build that was based around Lifestealing. I mean I could kill them but I was extremely squishy so I often died when I couldnt attack and lifesteal. Was massive fun though…except against armies of undead.
Welcome to carnivallll! I also joined this community because there are still developers like Crate entertainment that listen to their fans.
I’m also a diablo fan. I’m testing the beta this weekend but i’m a skill builder aholic and suffer from Altitis. Because i Wont be able to build a skill tree and won’t be able to make any mistakes i don’t think i’ll be able to enjoy the third chapter as much.
hello and welcome, and enjoy the camp fire, (But at this rate, I think we need a bigger bonfire )
but there are many of us here, so we are all acros the world, Im still trying to download the D3 beta so I can check it out myself, but I won’t be bothering to get it, even Torchlight 2 has fallen off my radar a lot)
but with the KS project up and running, I think this has drawn a lot of new and old fans alike, we still I think on track to hit the goal
but yeah, GD will be awesome, anything less then awesome and you might end up been added to the sacrifice list :p:D
I played Titan Quest again this weekend and i was really annoyed about the spirit mastery tree… You had actually only one proper spell(worked only against non-undead creatures) and then these pathetic spells against undead, but that wasn’t the main point of my agrovation. The worst thing was that you could summon a liche king that would do the casting for you and the creature would have 3 spell which could be MINE:furious:
That was a real bad low blow since my ego cannot tolerate my pet to be stronger and more complex than ME!
I think that the pets(especially for the mages) should be tanky meat shields and if you play over lan with like 3 friends, you will need no pets… So PLEASE don’t make pets take your spells
What comes to buying the grim dawn:
The more i play titan quest, the more i want this game
the more i listen to these forums, the more i lust for this game:D(you are better brain washers than the communists, but in a good way:D)
I got no money, so i gotta loan from my brother to get this game(cannot wait to pay, so gotta loan :D)
Well i think that the bosses could have something like a huge mana pool to be burnt, but it is so pathetic that when the enemy has no mana it cannot cast anything, so i think that they require a mana pool but they shouldn’t use mana for their cool skills(expect for something like a shield that goes down when the monsters mana is depleted or something like that)
There was this one boss that would clone itself, well he cloned himself once and then started waving his staff… The first boss that would do something actually cool would be hindered by imbalanced manaburn
hah… had to make a forum account to reply to this post.
first, hi there.
second, i’d like to throw in the devil’s advocate response to this. i know you’re probably writing this half-facetiously, but let’s consider the people who played TQ solo – then the lich king is pretty cool, because he’s got more than one card up his sleeve. after he gets the spirit shell thingy that makes him less squishy, he’s a good buddy that follows you around and keeps an eye on you when you’re getting mobbed.
sounds like you have a couple of buddies who have your back online. my friends all went to coachella this weekend while i tried out the d3 beta. they wouldn’t touch a computer game with a ten foot pole… and i’m pretty tired of getting my ears blown out by speakers and listening to drunk people say things they’ll forget in twenty minutes lol.
so my ‘friends’ online were the WD’s zombie dogs and random humans in public games. the dogs were noticeably more talkative. =]
anyways, here’s my vote to more summons like the LK for those of us who like pet builds. (occultist is looking pretty badass at this point).
Those are some good arguments. It is true that i have been playing over lan all the time and with my mates, but still it is so stupid that the lich king has 3 cool abilities like Death nova and arcane blast, but you are left with life drain and some stupid undead killer spells. I didn’t want to build a necromancer that would rely in his pet, so i kinda had to remake the character… As an example of a mastery tree that works with pets is fire: The core dweller is a cool and for all that i know pretty useful pet, yet you have like 4 cool spells in that mastery. I suggest a compromise:
You are allowed to have cool and strong pets, but you are also allowed to have cool and strong spells in the same skill tree. Neither of these should exclude the other.(but if there will be a summoning mastery tree for some reason, i wont be saying something like: “WTF OMFG Where is the Fireball?”)
I’ve met a bunch of those.
They are especially common in games with automatic match-making / LFG tools.
Never used those systems if given half a chance. If someone can’t be bothered to talk to me at all, what’s the point of being in a party?
Of course, there are some parties that just… click. When the puller goes from bringing singles to pairs, to entire crowds, and waves of mobs break on this rocky shore. When everyone plays in a zenlike state, words cease to matter. But these are rare events…
@ Gazz: ‘mobs break on this rocky shore’… arpg poetry, nice lol. yeah, i noticed most of the matchmaking was like that, especially on the SK run. it was quietly efficient. run at him, grab loot, tp out and then exit game.
i guess there’s that one integral step missing that i remember from d2, where you look for the name of a game and try to glean something of what you were stepping into when you hopped in. then saying hi and asking for a tp to go help out wherever they were. icebreaker stuff. ah well, it was fun anyways.
@ Shadowknight: i understand. seemed like the LK was stealing all the glory. sneaky lil bastard, ain’t he? =]
That’s one bit that is too streamlined in Diablo 3.
Clicking on someone’s banner to teleport there removes the initial interaction. (even if it was only gibberish like TP PLZ(*))
Stranger joins, pops up beside you, kills some monsters, leaves, another stranger joins…
That’s not multiplayer but rather some sort of strange dream episode.
(*) Pet peeve of mine: If you can’t bring yourself to typing “please”, you’re not getting the meaning.
right, that’s what i was feeling too. the banner mechanic was effective, but impersonal. it’ll work great for the console players though, who can’t wait for social mannerisms (and lack of keyboard) to get into the fray.
strange dream indeed. i hope the process of going through a longer campaign of multiple acts will instill some camaraderie. otherwise it’ll just be ‘u gt nething gud?’ after each boss/champ drop. =]
as for the peeve, yeah, at least an ‘s’ at the end, if one is trying to abbreviate, right? the ‘z’ doesn’t make it 733t lol…
I normally don’t respond to posts about TQ anymore, but I thought I’d post a little about Spirit mastery. It happens to be one of my favorite masteries in TQ and it’s very very versatile.
If your interested in a spell caster, note that Poinas on the TQ forums has a great post about how to use a maxed out Ternion to kill things super quick. You have a better spell than your liche king by far. Max out Ternion, get a good staff and you’ll do awesome.
If you want to go melee, this is where spirit really shines. There a bunch of great combos for it, but dream is probably the best. You’ll need some monkey runes and the soul shiver artifact to truly rock, but you can break vitality resistance without special equipment which is huge for any character that does vitality damage. Then load up on vitality damage weapons and eq and you’ll power through faster than your pet can.
