So I see a lot of ‘Pokemon’ builds were the summons do all the work and you might as well watch reruns of Seinfeld while they clear the dungeon for you but are there any great synergies that would encourage you to take an active part in the fight?
Fighting alongside your pets ranged or melee would be great. Or casting, but more than just a bunch of curses on the same pack of enemies. Of course, viable for endgame difficulties and with decent clear speeds.
Anyone has a build to share or some ideas to throw?
I reckon there’s lots of scope for a great 2-H Necro / Shadowblade character. I’d add in the Blight pet and work on the poision / cold synergies between the characters with maybe a little tiertiary vitality.
I’m seeing lots of reports saying Deathknight is meh, but I’m not sure why that should be the case. Again, a S&B cadence build with a powerful pet and lots of physical damage seems like it would work.
i watched a few streams since release and i saw three types of characters :
Ranged Inqui
Summon Necro
pre-AoM builds in AoM
which means that the vast majority of the players is immediatly interested by the big changes the new masteries bring to the game (playing ranged efficiently and lead a hoard of nasty monsters), no wonder here.
on topic the Necro is a very versatile mastery. there’s some obvious synergies with Shaman for vitality casters, Occ for Vitality/Poison (the most obvious on paper), Arc for aether… probably Reapers can do decent cold/vitality casters too
as for an hybrid playstyle, it’s generally considered as UP in GD, but i don’t know if it’s still the case in AoM. We will have to wait for hardened players to polish their top-tier builds i guess
Im waiting for some more active Builds too. At the moment I´m just pushing my sekeltons/Abo and looking for +dmg/res/vit on pets on my gear.
Because of the lack of active used Skills i really dont know what gear i have to use. Bonus to pets seems obvious. But are there any other relevant effects on my gear that effect my Pets too? Aside from the Pet-Bonus i dont know, if i have to look for something other than 100% Defense on my gear. Does any other attribute/+dmg/+elemental etc. effect my pets?
Not tried it and haven’t planned any devotions yet, but I had a quick look at having both Necromancer’s pets, Master of Death and Call of the Grave coupled with Inquisitor’s ranged skills - all maxed. Hopefully with pets on aggressive they charge in while I stand back and shoot.
Having fun with my Death Knight. Only other build I have personally played that uses the Revenant proc well. (In fact he doesn’t even use Raise Skeleton.)
Haven’t found the best item support for it yet though.
For necro summoners, the simplest path to making a hybrid seems to run through using the possible synergies from resistance reduction for vit / aether damage.
For example, with inquisitor as a second mastery, widow and manticore for further -res for aether, and perhaps Rattosh for -vit resists, plus -res from spectral wraith (necro mastery, -vit & -aether resistance) and word of pain (inquisitor, -aether resist) and a huge DA debuff from rune of hagarrad’s “biting cold”, you’ll have a mastery combo and set of devotion skills that heavily debuffs enemies. Add in flat vit damage for pets from soul harvest (necro) and you may have an effective hybrid on your hands.
My best guess is that ranged attacks with pistols would be the most natural way to make an inquisitor hybrid, although perhaps focusing on soul harvest or soul siphon / drain essence would work out better in the end. Another possibility would be storm box of elgeloth (inq) with the aether transmuter, as that not only does damage, but also debuffs enemies to make them easier prey for your pets.
I can’t speak to the itemization, as I haven’t researched that angle, and that’s likely to be crucial.
I also have a sense that this ends up being a weaker version of DaShiv’s Pyromancer hybrid pet / caster build because of less flat damage added to pets. I could be wrong, though, of course, given that necro brings more pets into play.
Im hoping to build a melee aether damage Necro+Soldier that has skeletons, forcewave and bone harvest
I dont know if its possible, only level 20 now having fun with max skeletons and bone harvest, by the time I reach a resonable level to make my build there will be a lot of toptier posted here
I hope somebody can make a summon/cold/vitality build. I’m leveling mostly summon but most the cold/vitality skills look fun. Using Bone Harvest maxed and it procs Shepherd’s Call easily plus does an okay amount of damage and looks cool. I can see a lot of the others meshing well too.
I know I’m trying to work out an artillerist Defiler. As in, your pets keep the goons at bay while you sling out bullets and grenades. As usual, I don’t have a computer that can run GD, but I can at least theorycraft (…maybe). A bare sketch of what I have in mind is here: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/4VxJDaN5 . Only problem is, I can’t figure out how to focus the demolitionist side (never mind that I imagine people will immediately call out that I didn’t put anything into Spectral Binding…).
I did a Forcewave + Bone Harvest Vitality Forcewave Death Knight and there’s not enough skill points for skeletons. Unless you sacrifice a lot of stuff to get skeletons.
I trying to work out what weapon components to help out the necro pets. Vitriolic Gallstone can boost blight fiend but I don’t see one along the same lines that can do vitality for the normal skeletons. I was starting to lean to the wrathstone for aether but I’m not really sure what ones to get for the necro pets.
I put points into skeletons first so up to level 20 they were doing most of the work, but now I’m level 30 and doing respectable damage alongside them (which also heals me). I think they’re doing 300-1000 damage per attack while I’m doing 250 every 0.2 seconds plus proccing the Bat celestial power.
The focus of my build is on me doing lots of damage and self-healing with Drain Essence but while also having a full group of skeletons that don’t suck. My skeletons sure won’t be as strong as a full summon-focused build, but I shouldn’t be sacrificing any significant damage to my attack to boost them. There are a few constellations with good boosts to vitality or aether damage that also boost pets.
You could do something similar with another attack if you don’t like Drain Essence. If you’d rather use attacks than spells, then simply combine necro with another class. I think fully maxed skeleton line is pretty decent even without a boost to pet stats because many of them are ranged and you can summon 3 at a time.
I like your way of thinking, I also want to help my pets for killing everything. I am Necro / Occultist and since I am leveling I am wondering if it is possible to be an hybrid Cabalist.
I am doing some significant damages with Bones Harvest but I don’t know if it is the best idea to play with Occ (I die quickly but I am lvl 30 without any devotions). Maybe I should focus more on the Vitality side?
And according to you guys; to play a Bones Harvest Build should I play Cabalist or Death Knight? I like my skeletons so I would like to play with them too
