A huge FoA supporter here (playing GD since 2018). I would really love and I am 100% sure others will, please make Winds of Asterkarn an one-time cast skill just like you did with Wind Devil. Currently the skill is not efficient and you have to stop and cast other skills and then Winds of Asterkarn again. It’s a horrible loop that in my opinion can be altered to perfection. Just my 2 cents on the matter. Of course you can nerf it a bit for that matter.
Or just make the radius scale faster and make it bigger
I am more behind the idea of it being like Wind Devil or let’s say like a temp buff e.g. Pneumatic burst or Rallying Cry (60 seconds duration with 12 seconds cooldown).
I think a better implementation would be for it to build stacks like savagery and the radius scales but the number of stacks. That way when you stop casting WoA, you don’t have to totally restart.
Lots of interest in this skill. I think it’s the most talked about skill in the expansion and nobody’s happy with it.
This is an honest question, and not trying to argue with anyone. I’m genuinely curious as I haven’t used it yet: but what’s the deal here? Is it that good, and would the many proposed changes OP it – especially considering synergies with other masteries? I’m sort of getting the feeling that there was a reason this skill reached “nerfed” and limited to us from day 0.
I think this would probably be the more “balanced” approach to making the skill not feel as jank.
I would personally like it to be what you suggested + having it linger and follow you after you stop casting, but decreasing in size as the stacks fall off.
Thematically it makes sense too. Winter storms don’t just immediately die off.
One aspect that might make it too good is leech and onslaught stacks. The stormfang set is already a good set so making it linger and still be able to gain onslaught stacks while moving around sounds kinda busted. Something like 3 seconds of decay rate wouldn’t feel too insane theoretically.
That is actually a great idea!
idk, to me it doesn’t feel jankier than any other channeling skill. On the surface this is not meant to be a “support” skill that you use alongside other main skills, its meant to be your main damage button. For that purpose I think it works fine.
I think the main offender here is the Eastern set and the interaction with TSS that creates this unsatisfying play pattern for the skill where you want to interrupt casting every 1.5 seconds
Imagine AAR building up reach
This is my favourite skill from the berserker. I think it is totally fine how it is. I use it with my Thane, with blood knight set, it annihilates all mobs with ease on ascendant mode. Facetanks most things, the odd nemesis or boss you have to kite but overall love this skill
I’m not against the idea of it being tuned, I just hope we don’t see it fundamentally changed from being a channel skill, as it is the first time I’m enjoying a channeler other than conflagration.
I do believe the majority of complaints is precisely that it allows you to facetank most things.
Can you elaborate?
I thought the complaints were that once you stop channeling it - it takes time for its radius to build up again which means you HAVE TO facetank
Give it a transmuter that makes it cast at your cursor instead but with greatly reduced area as the tradeoff.
Yeah it’s pretty rough in a dlc where ‘the floor is lava’ or ‘giant rock is being thrown at you’ constantly so have to dodge/reposition a lot. Either facetank a crazy amount of damage or do no damage yourself. Just the dread as one example. Stomp interrupts with petrify. Ball interrupts with goo on floor. Sunder forces dodge. Feels bad
That works well? I would’ve thought lack of rr on masteries would be a problem when I looked at it. But tankiness of soldier and leech with vit must help with holding your ground
