AAR is something wrong.

Guys, I was reconsidering my AAR Bombardment sorcerer’s devotion tree,
after doing that, I realized this…

“it’s something wrong with the AAR’s energy consumption.”

chk the first two screencaptures.

it has -10% skill energy cost and 190% casting speed,
therefore, my AAR has 102253 sheet DPS and using 1045 energy/sec
let’s call this [case 1].

and plz chk the other 2 captures.

it has -25% skill energy cost and 197% casting speed,
and my AAR has 106020 sheet dps and using 1083.5/sec at that time.
and let’s name that [case 2].

for convinience, I will calculate [case 2] 's AAR mana usage as 1083.

so here’s the formula for conclusion.
I wanna know the relationship between Cast Speed and AAR’s energy consumption/sec. so let’s equal the -% skill energy cost.

terms in used

TY: Thank You
WTF: What’s This Fancy
SEC: Skill Energy Cost
A: AAR’s energy/sec value of [case 1] (before -% SEC calcuated)
B: AAR’s energy/sec value of [case 2] (before -% SEC calcuated)
CS: Casting Speed

A0.9 = 1045 / DPS : 102253 CS:190%
B
0.75 =1083 / DPS : 106020 CS:197%

A = 1161
B = 1444

so we can see, with increasing 7% casting speed,
AAR’s DPS was also slightly increased.
and the energy/sec was increased nearly f**king 300. WTF??

and there’s one more thing.
I dont know why the mental alacrity doesn’t affect OFF, and Thermite mine, devastation’s skill energy cost.

I hope my english is good to understand. TY for reading.

We should have B = 197/190*A right?

we want to know the issue between AAR and CS, so the CS differs.

I’m showing you with 7% more CS, how AAR’s DPS, it’s energy consumption/sec changes.

sry. I calculated this with the skill “mental alacrity” so the -% skill energy cost is interrupting calculation.
so I made that equal to exclude -% SEC, in order to know the issue just between AAR and CS.

in conclusion,

7% more CS, AAR’s sheet DPS increases very little,
but it’s energy consumption icnreases like hell. that’s all.

sry for my english and shabby calucation.

-% energy cost will not display on the tooltip.

Is this a known bug? Or came with recent patch?

Just been that way forever.

:eek::eek:

I should probably start paying attention to these things

hmm, so the difference between value from 7% CS, not including energy cost reduction?

damn, then I was doing all the shit alone?
no… at least I proved the inconvenience of skill tooltip…

this game’s skill tooltip is something wrong.
What’s This Fancy!

Yea, energy cost manipulation doesn’t show in tooltips.

Otherwise, my PBlades build that had 97% energy cost redux on P-blades would be implying the base energy cost of P-blades is 8666 per cast or such.

I mean, P-blades is an energy whore, I won’t dispute that, but pretty sure it isn’t demanding 8666 energy per cast.

And yea, Tooltips are shit. They won’t even adjust for any conversion you do. If you for example have double-warpfire for 100% cold > Fire conversion, OFF will still list itself as cold damage, not fire.

Wouldn’t the sheet and/or tooltip utilize the same calculations that the skill itself would use? Obviously it can’t take into account the enemy resistances and whatnot, but everything else should be accounted for. If there is an equation or algorithm being used to calculate real damage, wouldn’t it be able to return a value for that exact damage on paper relatively easily?

I’m not trying to be combative or condescending here, it’s honestly mostly from ignorance on my part, so don’t misinterpret and attack me.

It should, yes, but this is well over a 10 year old engine that is an archaic PoS by modern standards. Crate is an indie company that got permissions to use the Titan’s Quest game engine, and it’s age shows. Odds are if they ever make a GD 2, they will be making their own engine from scratch to do it.

There was no sign GD would do anywhere near as good as it did, this was an indie game dev making a game for a niche market, in all rights GD probably should have never exploded into such a good game, but the devs did an absolutely insane job and as such it did.
